I cant see this coin on coinwarz.

also this incredibly unprofitable coin has so many miners, and such high hash rate which makes diff high.

with no profit at all why are so many people mining this coin?

I am not trying to spread FUD. Coin is great and innovative. (being anonymous is awesome)

But from the miners perspective is terrible.

I am just looking for some serious answers.

with no profit at all why are so many people mining this coin?

Maybe most of them believe that the coin will prove profitable later when the price is going to rise.

possible explanation:

if you buy darkcoins with bitcoins and bitcoin isnt anonymous somebody could trace back that you bought darkcoins

if you mine them there is a higher grade of being anonymous

just a guess

You have to remember, that darkcoin has 3.1 times the hashrate than scrypt and therefore the difficulty directly compared to vertcoin, dogecoin etc. is rather high. But if you take the factor in your calculation, it is about even.

Serious answers . .

Not every miner is completely broke and living paycheck to paycheck. There's quite a few people who look to crypto for more than immediate profit. Some like to think they're participating in something incredible, and that this doesn't need to make them rich tomorrow . . or even ever if that's how it ends up playing out.

The mining profitability is still > than the power required to mine this coin . . by quite a bit.

This means that people who aren't broke and mine are actually saving money by not buying directly.

Additionally, these same people can understand that profitability and wealth don't come overnight . . or even in a week.

With that in mind . . the need to rush to the market and buy some right now this second is not really there . . because there's plenty of time to invest in this coin . . or any other coin that's worth it.

And if it doesn't get profitable . . it's not that much money to lose on power.

By mining other pumpy coins you're directly participating in something that cheapens the entire idea of cryptocurrencies . . because those that do are telling the world that that is what this is all about . . tricking people into losing all their money and pocketing it as fast as possible. It's not about that though.

I hope anyone that doesn't see the inherent value of supporting something fantastic by mining this or something that brings a lot to the table instead of garbage can find something they really believe in some day. It doesn't have to be one particular coin . . but really just the ones that really bring something to the table.

Anyone know why the new wallett isnt syncing?

I updated yesterday, it synced pretty fast, woke up now and it just wont bother even after a restart.

I just redownloaded the QT, deleted everything except wallet.dat and it gets stuck at the same point @ 16 hours left. Does it have anything to do with the fork?

we are growing, come and help mine darkcoin, and get a chance of winning the lottery pool.

once a week 50% of the fees, will be drawn,
to one lucky winner... is it your turn next?

Pool Pays Witdrawal fee: 0.0
Please spread your hashing power, we dont want 1 pool to have >50%

DDOS Protected pool

Come over to the new server, its blasting fast compared to the old server
old miners, your miners have been port forwarded to the new server,
when you get the time, change it to stratum+tcp://lotterymining.com:4444

Those miner who basically "mine and dump" probably left this coin already, because there are other more profitable. Who is mining this coin does it because 2 things, lower electricity consume and less heat, and because they know price will go up, so they are mining it as an investment.

And regarding the price, it's manipulated, someone has a bot setting sell orders to force dumper to sell cheaper and to cover all the selling block at cryptsy (market with the highest DRK volume, so it's leading the coin), they are doing the same with VTC, probably the same person.

so would paying to cloud hash still be cheaper than buying?
I stopped mining after the diff shot up due to GPU mining.

I don't really know. I haven't read much talk about cloud hashing since everyone started implementing and optimizing GPU miners for coins that were originally CPU only.

Not sure what all you people are talking about with regards to profitability. I just did a calculation and for me it came out to ~0.017 BTC/day for DRK @ 8.8 MH/s vs. ~0.017 BTC/day for top scrypts @ 2.5 MH/s. This is at the current DRK price of 0.00125 and with free electricity (which I do have; if you don't then DRK wins by a wide margin).
