Some people have balls selling at these prices wish I had balls to risky for me . I sold my 1500 ltc last year when it kept falling to under a dollar then BANG up to $48 missed out on roughly £65000 not doing that again I'm holding even if it goes under a $ this time and still selling even tho master nodes payment system suzzed on testnet. I'm coming bk in a month can't watch lol

Just some short term thinking donkeys selling. I've owned >1% of all DRK since the start and I will keep owning them till the end, no matter what. End of the year we will be huuuge, not worth doing some short term trading.
Agree with this logic. No way dark should be valued less than ltc in marketcap terms.

That's what I am thinking.  I am not expecting a rise or spike of any kind but with Evan's masternode payment announcement last night, I am surprised people are willing to let go of their coins at these prices.  If anything I would expect us to be going sideways waiting for RC3.

I have also thought about shorting but I always sell in the trough then buy on the peak haha.  Now I'm hanging on for the ride.

DRK may end up being more expensive that Bitcoin due to low coin supply.

On the other hand it might not. I see it going one of 2 ways from here:

[1] - It continues to revalue after RC3 and eventually trump Litecoin which would give it a value of nearer 0.1 BTC. From there is goes to near parity with BTC and becomes the genuine alternative network to Bitcoin - a kind of alternative 'reserve'.

...or...

[2] - This is it. DRK stays in the lead and adds some more value after RC3 etc, but at the same time the entire crypto market starts to get flooded with DRK alternatives and new approaches to anonymity. Existing coins add "anonymity features" such as dark wallet and NXT mixer. They are not as "complete" as DRK so it gives DRK a slight lead but isn't prepared to invest further at such high prices against a background of abundant of anonymous cryptocurrency networks.

Take your pick.

Under scenario 2, each anon coin will have it's own whales and backers. But, Darkcoin will always have first mover advantage. I think it would be somewhat prudent to change name to PrivacyCoin to cement the first mover advantage. Get ordinary people involved by improving the optics, IMHO. But what would I know?

Mate, let it go please. I respect your opinions ever since you hopped on but you don't remember how much this name thing was discussed to death before you joined the thread. It IS the thing a lot of the folks liked about the coin.

do not want to hate here or anything - I still have quite a few darks which I bought early.

The big competitor for dark is NOT existing coins adding coin mixtures, the big competitors are cryptonotes who really offer trustless anonymity.

For me it was a huge turn down when evan said that he is not implementing ring signature - I see his reasoning (it basically makes the economic model of masternodes useless), but still think it is a failure not to add it.

Masternodes have more to give in my opinion. And it's not like the crypto note opposition is surging ahead. Good news (everything nearly ready for the next update) + price drop = market manipulation to me. Get the price down before the the next surge when everything is working (or before)

I do know it was discussed to death. But I'm telling you guys that this is a weakness in the coin preventing even more widespread adoption. I don't expect you guys to listen to me but, as a largish coin holder I want the best for Darkcoin. I have never sold a single darkcoin ever. I do think this issue can be fixed relatively easily.

Short term bottom is definitely in.  I just sold about 50 BTC worth of DRK between 175 and 169 and it got soaked up no problem.  I'm reversing and buying here.

People in this thread are so funny, everyones sayi they buying, people even lying about putting up 100+BTC walls so if everyone buying who is selling. Coin is just manipulated to fuck and you lot cant see it. I just hope I can get back to near my investment and get the fuck out of here. Probably just dwindle down to sub 0.01 though.

Evan says he has something better than ring signatures.  Ring signatures are good for anonymity but they bloat up the block chain (up to 8x of bitcoin) and that will be a major barrier to any kind of large scale adoption.

If Evan's solution is 95% as anonymous and saves us from the bloat then we would be the clear choice over the cryptonote clones from a technical perspective.  His solution is planned for RC4 (July). Good things come to those that wait...

I am using cryptonote coins to get acquainted with them... too many problems... ram use, bloated blockchain, problematic transactions due to size limit, all-around-scaling issues in terms of cpu/ram/disk requirement, problematic adoption from exchanges/merchants etc... the only thing that seems fixable is the gui. All the rest need heavy modification or redesign to even be usable. And that's on a technical level, because on an economic level the inflation of cryptonote coins is killing the investors and those who hedged DRK with them.

I think both drk and cryptonote coins have the same opponent: a cryptonote v2 coin that solves the first generation issues and retains or even improves the anonymity capabilities. And even then it will have the question of "is it robust and safe?" - because it's a new blockchain that hasn't been time-tested as well as bitcoin has.
