The facts will indicate that bitcoin.info uses a standalone centralised coin mixing server requiring trust. Darkwallet is in alpha/beta and has been for months. Moreover, they can only do two party coinjoin. They may get it working eventually. But in mind I keep thinking, why can't we just use masternodes to perform this coinjoin task? Darkcoin is good enough technology with a development path.

There you go right there....a 2 DRK sell at 0.01782 followed immediatelly by a 2.1 DRK buy at 0.01804.

That's one trader wanting the price to go down followed by another wanting it to go up, each of them pushing the price to respective sides of the spread gap for as little money as poss.

Neither is prepared to put any value into their trade.

This is changed days from when people were throwing 10's of Bitcoins onto the asks just to grab anything they could get. Not only that, we are at the tail end of a 4 hour chart correction which would normally be very bullish. I would normally buy in at that point, but the order book is about as lively as a dead sheep right now so I'm not prepared to convert realised BTC for unrealised and neither, buy the looks of it are many others.

I thought the order book was picking up a bit earlier, but I guess it was just that 1000 order you mentioned, seems to be gone now. Back to waiting... thanks again for your perspectives. I hadn't considered manipulation via small orders just to scare up some buyers. It makes sense.

So what I'm getting is I should wait for more serious volume and larger orders before I start calling it a reversal, and to ignore these movements with hardly anything to them.

They may getting working eventually. But in mind I keep thinking, why can't we just use masternodes to perform this complex task? Darkcoin is good enough technology with a development path.

Masternodes, as good as they are, and that's not an inherent weaknesses of the node structure btw, is that they know who is doing the transaction. They could be used in a way where they wouldn't know who is transacting what in order to improve their current weakness which might create other problems. We'll have to wait and see what the next step is regarding development. Perhaps we might even see a multiple implementation in the future like

- Normal send
- StealthSend / Stealth Addresses
- Masternode mixing where the node knows
- Masternode mixing where the node knows (multiplied by X number of mixings so that even if the nodes know, it will become irrelevant)
- Masternode mixing where the node doesn't know

As for Dark Wallet, the demand for BTC mixing is good, so I think it'll get there at some point.

Generally speaking yes, volume leads price. You ideally want to see expansionary volume on breakouts to the upside.

This is true. It would appear to me that at least darkcoin has the proper financial incentives in place to run hundreds if not thousands of these servers that are chosen at random. Will dark wallet be able to do decentralised automatic coin mixing at wallet level without servers whilst obscuring IPs? Long way to go I suspect.

Edit: mostlikely caused by these awesome news that are in the post here above, REALLY !! THE Greg Maxwell Will review the code ... (should have posted a rocket instead of the train Tongue )

Now... he has certain preferences regarding bitcoin vs altcoins and he has a certain philosophy that he has expressed as to why bitcoin-based clones are redundant, scummy, evil or whatever.

...

Almost personal-level criticism I've read about the darkcoin developers has also been uncalled for in some of his past posts.
Aye. Being respected is what makes him king. And he has demonstrated that he will wield that power with little regard to the facts, because in his eyes we are sleazy money making scummy villainous altcoin people that used his coinjoin work. To him, crushing darkcoin or trying to, is the "right" thing or at least inconsequential to the success of bitcoin via the holy grail of coinjoin, which he invented. He sees no need for darkcoin.

Then surely him reviewing darkcoin doesn't even merit trains, let alone rockets. It'd be like hoping for a stock price surge in a lesbian convent porn company based on a coming review by Fred Phelps.

I'd suggest 3 seperate devs, personally.  Maybe Maxwell, Mindfox and..  i dont know a good 3rd.  But comparing and contrasting 3 peoples opinions is better all around that using 1 persons as
gospel.  Let's face it... maxwell is predisposed to be negative about dark.  He's going to pick every nit.  To be honest i can't see him saying anything positive about dark no matter what.  He's made his feelings clear and he won't want his name attached to dark if he says anything positive.  The best dark can expect from maxwell will be a completely neutral review no matter what.

The first thing the king will dislike is not having blind sigs. To him this is a "chokepoint" and means the system is not decentralised, even though masternodes are randomly chosen from a pool of hundreds if not thousands of masternodes. If Evan fixes this in RC4, then maybe he will say that the system is decentralised.

This +100% after reading Maxwells post it seemed pretty clear he will have a really hard time staying neutral.

Edit: how about someone from the litecoin team ?  dont really know Mindfox, who is he ?
EditEdit: lulz you dont mean the dev from XC, do you?

he said in his announcement today that the checkpoint system is a temporary fix until the network is stable. he's aware that he's temporarily centralizing the network, but it's ultimately for a good reason.
