What is the whale doing? Stolen funds or just someone moving about a lot?
Most likely stolen. Just check out the behavior. Always moving the stash to a new address and slowly draining to exchanges and fresh addresses. It looks scripted to run 24/7.
Here is where funds are currently parked:
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/address.dws?XpE6Yfhd3detzyRpL7YQiGBjRLzHBhrKKY.htm
So now you can follow along until he wises up and Darksends them. Smiley

i was just tracking this and came here to post but it looks like everyone is already on top of it.
looks like the mintpal/moolah/mintgox bot has dumped 70k drk on various exchanges in this last week. i tracked it back to an address on 2014-10-07 with 353,787.01000031
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/tx.dws?595614.htm

you can follow the path down to 286,718.03994322  here...
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/address.dws?512845.htm

if you follow it you can see the 70k drk being sent to other exchanges this last week.

looks like they knew they f'ed up a week ago and have been liquidating. criminal?

I would like to go on record and categorically state that we have not executed any form of trade using customer funds, or withdrawn to another address, using customer funds.

Any dumps you have seen are the result of legitimate trades, and are users most likely looking to cash out full stop.

I was wondering why the price dropped so dramatically.  But after reading about the latest mintshit fiasco it all makes sense.  And the price was up almost 20% after I setup a masternode.  Those scoundrels have ruined my moment.  I was ready to claim the "shojayxt effect" on the price.

No worries, I'm still holding what I have and am moving some btc to buy more drk at this very moment.

Price will go back up.  No worries here.

few hundred pages ago I read about 120 DRK are mined each Month
lol this is not true. My masternodes are generating 20 DRK a day in total. I think a few thousand DRK are mined each month.

Are you sure its just a few thousand...? Given that you're getting MN payments of c600DRK a month... (20x30 days) By my math that would mean one of the three:

1. you hold roughly 80% of the masternodes
2. you're massively underestimating the amount of DRK being mined
3. you plucked that whole statement out of thin air...

Lol moolah, reading their twitter feed makes the scam so obvious. Get ready for a further decline in price until theyve dumped everything. Im holding on to my drk, the price will be back to original heights in no time once theyve dumped everything. This scam will hurt altcoins in general though.

Yep. They sure succeeded in doing that.

I've still got about 3800 CLOAK on there from memory. 280,000 Flutter, 1800 Black 25 DRK and god knows what else.

I was lucky that I got out ~12 BTC from there just before they started to level up to Gox mode.
~1.5 BTC from that wasn't too lucky because I throw it at NEOS (which crashed). And now that I mentioned it, I can't even remember what I did with the remaining ~0.5 BTC (-> these are those statements I hope I will be able to laugh about after BTC hits $100000+ "Yeah, I just throw that kind of money away like it was nothing." Cheesy).
The rest went to a Bitfinex trading wallet to grow. I thought about turning a part of the $ profit into DRK but that doesn't count toward to margin trade leverage.

I'm so glad I removed all my drk from shitpal before that whole fiasco. I can't say I'm not surprised to hear moolah is shutting down and I remember reading in this thread that someone predicted this happeneing the day v2 launched and went to crap. I wonder how or if they will repay those who will have lost accounts who still can't recover there coins.

Same here, had a panicky few days when shitpal initially went belly up (no warning about upgrade) but got my 1k+ of coins out as soon as i could. They're nicely stashed away in my masternode set up, and they're going to stay there for the foreseeable.

Shitpal are insisting that coins are safe and that no wallets have been comprimised, I just hope that this is the case. It doesn't look good though.

Me too ! And I spent exactly 1.5 BTC on it, convinced it was going to get a 4x rise at least. Now I'm at a 50% loss !  Shocked

************************************************************************************************************************************
“We’re in talks with an ATM provider right now – we’re looking for point-of-sale type companies that would be willing to support it,” he said.

Duffield added that the rapid expansion of the crypto economy is helpful for altcoin projects like darkcoin, providing a means to both educate the broader market and
assist initiaitves in gaining wider exposure.''
*************************************************************************************************************************************

Interesting.....

There is an open source ATM. Buy the ATM, load your own software to run it. I got in contact with them months ago. They said they were focusing on BTC, but their ATM could be used to support any coin.

So this must be something else. Maybe a distribution partner with DRK pre-loaded - for legal marijuana shops, maybe?

An excellent idea...

if what slex said is true then they are done dumping their private holdings/non-customer funds. i suspect they had a bunch of extra drk that was not owed to customers and thats what they dumped. we'll see.

Most of the volume Mintpal ever had was generated by their own bots. They sold up either because they had fucked up and realised they couldn't cover their short trades, or there simply wasn't enough profit left for them in it. Credit where it's due, they may have been crooked, but they weren't idiots.

Along comes an idiot: Alex@Moolah. Just as crooked, but not nearly as smart. Buys Mintpal for a hefty chunk, too stupid to see that all that volume was imaginary, and doesn't have the team to run it, at all as it turns out, never mind with the profits the previous crooks were raking in by shorting every dunce who left a balance on there, with their own money.

Hilarity ensues.  Grin

Yes, you were all dunces, anyone with one eyeball and two brain cells could see the Mintpal bot legions at work, bleeding fiat out of your crypto, and not only did you dunces get what you deserved, the rest of us saw our holdings decrease in value too. So fuck you.  Tongue

Silver lining - DRK is clearly the cryptocurrency of choice for criminals. Can't get a better recommendation than that.  Wink

I don't normally agree with thelonecrouton... But when I do, it's a +1000...

The only caveat to your statement brother, a lot of n00bs would have gotten ripped off which is a shame...

Good summary of BTC-e Tok. It's certainly an institution (of sorts).

I spent quite a bit of time on the BTC-e troll box in the early part of this year and, in fact, found my way to Darkcoin because of the negative comments about it on there. They often refer to it as DORK. It's truly a fascinating study in human nature to spend time on there and witness the blatant lack of balance and the never ending mis-information that's thrown around (peppered with ad nauseum "arise chikun" and "to da moon" posts....mournfully imbecilic doesn't come close to describing it). It's like the BTC-e troll box is representative of all the issues, anomolies and flaws of crypto in general and you can find dozens of Shojayxt's on there....it's quality central (not!) but it's certainly educational to go on there for a bit.

That was a pretty good summary, I met Shojayxt on the Polo Trollbox, promoting XC & XMR and fudding DRK 24/7...  His mates Pookielax and Lifeing covered the shift 24/7 and ensured there was always someone online to steer people away from DRK.  It definitely was my first experience of a co-ordinated team to steer n00bs in a particular direction...

TrollBoxes certainly are a baptism of fire and you wisen up pretty fast to the sophisticated techniques used to influence people.

I came to the conclusion that if you hear some advice on an exchange chat box, do the opposite...

It is called a trollbox for a reason.

For the record, I have no affiliation with Pookielax and Lifeing.  It's possible that we were all in agreement in the trollbox but that's the extent of my involvement with either of those two characters.

Also, I never promoted XC at all.  I've never been invested in XC for any significant amount.  I managed to ride one of the early pumps and make some BTC but that's about it.  I've never promoted or posted anything regarding XC.

As for XMR, I was an early supporter basically due to the fact that I was mining the coin when nobody else was even looking at the archaic command line interface coin called bitmonero.  I had EC2 instances mining that shit the first week.  I mined tens of thousands.  Because it was an entirely new protocol using Ring Signatures I knew it would pay off and boy did it ever.  I'm still holding some XMR and will continue to do so.  As far as cryptonote coins go, I do hold a significant amount of BBR.  I also mined that in the beginning but not at the level that I did XMR.  I purchased the majority of my BBR with BTC made from the selling of XMR.  My reason for reducing my XMR holdings were due to the arrival of a self appointed king that actually lives in a castle and started dictating the way forward for XMR.  Unfortunately his money and arrogance have done more harm to XMR than good.

I write this only so that you and others can have a better understanding of who I am and why I do the things I do.  It's not much and it's not required but since I apparently elicit anger, frustration, resentment, hatred, and annoyance in so many people, I feel somewhat obligated to provide some of my background.  I'm really not the villain some try and make me out to be.  Like I stated, I allowed personal conflicts with a few individuals to spill over into attacks on Darkcoin.  You were one of those people.  Now you can continue to attack me if you want.  It's up to you.

My focus now is on Darkcoin and doing what I can to support it.  If you're still worrying about me you're wasting your time.

Anyway, for now I'll just sit back, run my masternodes, and buy some more DRK while it's cheap.

i tried using bitfinex but it was way too complicated. i got btc in but could not get it to execute a trade. i sent my btc out of there to my old cryptsy account and luckily got some drk @.00500!
mintpal v1 was great while it lasted but it's done now, i won't be back. i looked at bitrex but was not impressed. i've got a bter account but rarely use it so it's craptsy for me until btc-e steps up. seems like drk and btc-e are the perfect fit.
