Some people on the asset exchange have upwards of 12 stakes. I saw multiple accounts with over 10 just scanning through. Some big holders are beginning to form.
I almost guessed that happening

I almost guessed that happening i dont think it will effect nem that much.. if a whale wants a large amount of a currency.. they will usually acquire it one way or another.. whether its buying up cheap now or manipulation of the market after launch.. so it makes no odds really.. lets just hope these are the type of whales to put up bounties and give donations and fund conferences ect.. yea, that was to be expected ... Later it will be seen, what has been the motivation of the sockpuppets, whales, early birds, and also who they are. Eg. are they coming from this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=12156.0

Whales will buy anyway, it is the cheap sellers that I am worried about.

these are people with little faith in nem.. so i wouldnt say its the worst thing if they sell cheap! Yeah, a self-selecting mechanism seems to be at work.

This is to be expected on the NXT AE, but I think it's only possible to claim 2 stakes once NEM is officially launched to avoid such hoarding. Can someone who's more well informed verify that this is in fact the case. Thanks in advance and dev's keep up the great work!

Just makes it more difficult for the whales to cash out their NEM.

Two stakes was pretty pointless rule introduced, as not only it's easy to create more Nxt account, but there is no way you can ever stop any whale from buying large amount of nem, even after it's officially released.

At least there's some effort to try avoid this type of hoarding, but I understand that it would basically be impossible to avoid this type of action on an AE, it's simply human nature. Anyone know how many of the 1000 tokens have been issued? Also does anyone know how long the NXT AE runs for? I'll be interested to see how the public auction works out on the Bitcoin blockchain.

As of today, 388 people have requested a token ( source). For your second question, Check out this thread. 8. NEMstake tokens will expire and has no more conversion power after the completion of V1 blockchain (about 2 months after the official launch). All NEMstake tokens will be destroyed by sending them back to Nxt genesis block. So the tokens will be valid until September/October time.

It's more about sending an anti-sockpuppet message than being a practical preventative measure.

on the stakeholder list i see some names have tx id and some have other numbers beside them?
I first thought these were the tx of the btc and nxt fees for getting on the shareholder list
However i now notice some of the early numbers have tx id and not the later numbers? this is strange because the first few pages were free so should not have a tx id next to them, and the later ones should have a tx next to them but don't?

Any idea when the public auction will happen or it's still yet to be determined at this point? No problem. The auctioning off of 156 stakes made available from the removal of sockpuppets will happen during the alpha to avoid scam accusations. More information in this post. Considering the alpha has no ETA just yet, the date for the public auction is undetermined.

You're right about the TX ID differences. If people sent BTC for a stake, the TX IDs are strings of letters and numbers. If people sent NXT for a stake, the TX IDs were strings of numbers only, which are shorted automatically by Google Docs to standard form. People could obtain stakes by making logos/videos and writing articles without paying a fee, so these people naturally wouldn't have a transaction ID associated with their name because they didn't send anything.

I read this about another coin. "The transactions in a block are hashed in a Merkle root tree unlike Nxt which just hashed the concatenation. The Merkle root is resistive to quantum cryptography attacks and allows for SPV based clients to be implemented."
In the future if a quantum computer is possible, will NEM have any resistance to a quantum cryptography attack?
Nope.
