PMC started as an experiment and has got this far on it's own merits.
What is it with all this shameless promotion? It's a bit tacky, don't you think?
getmining.info hates memes? Not especially I just think people value PMC on it's own merits rather than some meme. I understand it has had a positive for certain coins but I just think bolting one on now dilutes what PMC set out to try and achieve.

Just an attempt to make some stuff that would raise awareness. Anyone else have an opinion?

I could probably do with investing a BTC or two into a sense of humour, it could be said PMC is an excellent idea. To fast-forward the BTC network and to investigate the value of mining for TX fees only. It is one of the few coins that I would consider to be serious, even if it did begin as an experiment. People have began to take notice and the coin has gathered some value as a result. As always, now there will be dreamers, market manipulators and shameless promoters. However, remembering the original intentions of the experiment I believe there is more value to be added by exposing the results of the following situations: It will be interesting to see attacks against the network. 51%, diff bombs, etc and how it may differ from BTC if it continues to gather momentum, i.e. If it becomes a coin in it's own right: If the community wishes to impose change. For example: mandatory TX fees, difficulty retargeting, etc.. All things that may be discussed when BTC is nearly all mined. My 0.011 PMC

I like PMC because it doesn't have the inevitable group of miners who need to dump coins for electricity costs.

However, remembering the original intentions of the experiment I believe there is more value to be added by exposing the results of the following situations:I fully agree with you on this. I'm 100% on board. That being said, a little humor doesn't hurt, and if people want to make a humorous post I'm all for it. Provided it isn't overdone it doesn't bother me. However, to those that may want to do so, please bear in mind that not everybody shares the same sense of humor, so again, don't over do it. It will be interesting to see attacks against the network. As far as difficulty adjustments go, that is likely to be something we address sometime soon. Before making any drastic changes we will hold out and observe the working of the network at a higher capacity. That is one of the reasons that we have not enforced a min fee, we simply do not know what the price will be, and overcharging for fees can be just as bad, if not worse than undercharging. My theory for diff bombs is this: If the difficulty is run up too high, transactions will slow, and blocks will be much fuller. This will give massive rewards to the miners that hang around and mine. A unique feature of PMC is this: hash too fast and you waste money and electricity. Blocks come too fast, and they will all have 0 fees, hash too slow and the fees get larger, which makes mining more profitable. As long as the coin does not become completely hung, that is ok. Also bear in mind that we have on reserve several hundred GH/s that we have not even applied to the network. As for the dreaded 51% attack, I would expect the results to be identical to BTC, or any other coin for that matter. The direction of the coin will always reflect the desires of the community, and you should always expect improvements to the coin in the future. All said good observations, I do agree.

I'm going to quote you on this. We will discuss this in exactly 30 days. I smell a bet I'm really not the betting type, but I'd place a friendly wager saying it will be over #30 on day 30. If you want to match it for exactly #30 on March 22 2014 5 PMC

If you want to match it for exactly #30 on March 22 2014 5 PMC Ok i will take your bet of 5 PMC. I don't think PMC will reach top 30 within 30 days. Because Other coins in the top 30 will go up in value as well. Maybe PMC will go up only 15 rank. So i will have a higher prob. of winning this bet. 30/70.

To elaborate on this idea, what about a pool bet? Everyone puts in 5 PMC (or however much, must be the same for everyone) to an address (Dev or someone trustworthy), comments a ranking in the transaction, posts their ranking guess and transaction number (guess stored and verifiable), on 03/22/2014 at 3:00 PM Pacific Standard Time (or whenever) www.coinmarketcap.com is screenshot and winners are paid the pot (distributed evenly since everyone put in the same 5 PMC). A Google Spreadsheet could also be setup to track everyone's guesses. And since the ranking guess will be stored in the transaction, there is no need to worry about someone editing their post to say they had the correct guess.

What happened to the Premine faucet? My "earnings" are still there - didn't dispensed them!! Temporary issues with DNS System V2 We're experiencing a DDoS attack on our DNS system at the moment - this means that any domains that are using DNS v2 or FreeDNS nameservers may experience intermittent availability issues. We are currently in the process of mitigating the attack and are working hard to ensure a quick resolution. Please refer to our status blog for updates. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.
