The scammers said they had "consensus" for a fork, when clearly they hadn't.

Wow. Mining the original ethereum blockchain is much more profitable now for eth miners!
Again. stop spamming threads with irrelevant information of other coins.

Wrong this thread is about ETC

If there are any noobs reading this thread:

ETH is currently being used to prove that a BTC HF is a bad idea.

Not every HF is a bad idea.

Ethers of the "attacker" are not equal to Vitalik's ethers! Bad HF are only those that shrink and limit fungibility of the monetary asset. Ethereum HF is the worst possible HF. It not only limits the fungibility of eth coin but didn't add any value in terms of quality, functionality, or robustness!

So you don't buy ETH for ultimate fungibility then. There's Bitcoin for that. Having a criminal sitting on such a vast sum of eth could threaten CASPER. Ethereum is not Crypto Gold, It's not Crypto Silver, It's not even Crypto Bronze. It's a platform for smart contracts. For that you need a community. For that you need developers. Eth Classic has none of those things. Their supporters comprise of Monero and Bitcoin enthusiasts who want to see Ethereum burn.

If you want to ride the ETC train for a couple of days: Go ahead!

If you want to be part of the Dapp / Smart Contract revolution: Look out for some cheap ETH!

Exactly. People that have missed Ethereum when it was created now have the opportunity to buy really cheap classic ethers on the original eth blockchain. What is the point of buying overpriced forked ethers?

@becoin

I hope you understand that this line of argument hurts BTC as well.

The block size HF issue in BTC was dead before this fud storm happened. Now it seems like people think any HF ever is a bad thing.

And we both know BTC will eventually probably need a HF.

btc has lots of bad( mtgox, bterhack and so on) guys holding them but never sold its integity for profit and for not have to handle a setback.
ether got to big too soon the dao desaster shows that but instead of analysing what made the attack posible they focused on saving investment
may the ether classic now find a way to make the  chain more secure.
there are devs there are suporters.

Exactly. People that have missed Ethereum when it was created now have the opportunity to buy really cheap classic ethers on the original eth blockchain. What is the point of buying overpriced forked ethers?

I explained why. Read it again, please.
Nope. You didn't!
Except maybe that eth forked has developers while eth classic doesn't. But that is not true!

Do I need devs that missed a gaping security hole? No.
Do I need devs that act as MLM agents to a failed project like DAO? No.
Do I need other devs like the "attacker" that proved unquestionably he is smarter than all pro-fork eth devs all together? Yes.

So? What do you explain? Read it again, please.

Not all HFs are bad. This was already explained above.
Ethereum HF is a free lesson for us why HFs should not be done for the reason Eth HF was done!

I really wish success to classic ETH. Lets see how this unfolds!

this are exciting times.
etherclassic is the original code which is what the crowdfunding suporters wanted. we put our money on it for a reason.

read what was on the ether page:
Ethereum is a decentralized platform that runs smart contracts: applications that run exactly as programmed without any possibility of downtime, censorship, fraud or third party interference.

These apps run on a custom built blockchain, an enormously powerful shared global infrastructure that can move value around and represent the ownership of property. This enables developers to create markets, store registries of debts or promises, move funds in accordance with instructions given long in the past (like a will or a futures contract) and many other things that have not been invented yet, all without a middle man or counterparty risk.

The project was crowdfunded during August 2014 by fans all around the world. It is developed by the Ethereum Foundation, a Swiss nonprofit, with contributions from great minds across the globe.

i think competition is good.

Miners to Attack Ethereum Classic after Polonix's Listing
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/miners-attack-ethereum-classic-polonixs-listing/

The mining community is not happy about Polos sneaky move.
They will probably suffer from this.
And im guessing Bttrex will be among those now taking over the volume.

Seemed polo shot their own foot here.

ETC/BTC and ETC/ETH #Ethereum Classic markets added.

All users who had an #Ethereum balance at the moment of the fork now have a matching balance of $ETC

What motives has Poloniex for trading the old chain. They could be be in an alliance with the dao hacker. This could go very badly for Poloniex. They are providing a method of exchanging stolen ether.
