Hey guys,
I have just switched to parity because geth doesn't work at all for me. I have synced and opened new mist 0.8.6 but I don't see my balance. What am I doing wrong? How to add an account and show my balance?
Last wallet I have used was 0.8.
Thanks guys

Calm down guys, the attack on Ethereum was all about making profits through crimes. Get a dump going on through a huge theft or network attack, buy up at bottom of a panic dump of ETH and then sell it off when the price rebounds. Trying to connect it up too stuff happening outside of crypto currencies is silly but there was no panic dump. the price didnt fluctuate in a range one would expect with such a long time attack. eth stood above 10 euro even if you cant even transfer it smooth. same in etc. and if i am informed right the attacks do cost gas so they burn there own money doing them. so i cant see what huge shorting could be done. and no i am not just pro etc i watch eth too couse this attacks look like a highlevel chess game. its interesting what the next move might be. i think the motivation is not money its more ideological. the attackers must be very smart. and know blockchain technologie very well. and especialy ethereum blockchain.

Ethereum is as solid as a rock. It will not be swayed with some bitcoin pumps. Those who think it would.....

Yes, but in contrast to bitcoin ETHF pumps don't work. Every attempt is quickly and impatiently sold out.

If all goes well with ethereum this will be bigger than Bitcoin in my opinion. For now it has always experienced growing pains. If it is mature enough and embraced by majority fintech , it is going to be the Berkshire of cryptocurrency.

Is there something wrong with geth? I had switched to parity but now when I start geth or the wallet no blocks load and it will not sync. I am using the latest wallet (6) and geth (18).
Thanks.

More forks https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/58i8e0/update_on_hf_2_and_client_optimizations/?st=iunoy996&sh=8a6ccc70Update on HF 2 and client optimizations Submitted 3 days ago * by vbuterinJust some guy - announcement Geth developers are working on an optimization that will store a direct on-disk table representing account storage, allowing accounts to be accessed in O(1) leveldb reads instead of O(log(n)) leveldb reads as is the case now. Preliminary tests suggest a 5x speedup in processing account reads if this is done. This is a fairly large change to the client (not quite but almost as complex as journaling) so don't expect it out tomorrow, but it will make a large difference. Simpler optimizations on the in-memory trie cache are achieving ~30% speedups. We're looking at simple forms of state tree pruning to allow nodes to reduce their storage size without having to delete the DB and fast sync from scratch. This should increase processing time indirectly. The main debate in the hard fork discussions is whether to implement EIP 158 with section 2 or with (1c) (there is little value in doing both). The two carry different risks; section 2 is more complex from an in-EVM consensus standpoint, whereas (1c) requires more substantial re-architectures in other areas of geth to implement, as iterating through all accounts is not a use case that needed to be supported in all nodes before. We are considering adding replay protection, likely either EIP 155 or a simpler trick involving using the upper bits of the tx nonce as a chain ID, but nothing is yet finalized.

last night I had to stop mining. I saw my 7950 is hashing @2Mhashes instead of 13.5Mhashes. Can any one tell me what happened ? I am facing this sort of problem more frequently now a days.

yes there is i know no one with a working wallet. and i try for a friend to get his ether predao fork out of that wallet. i start thinking his coins are burned. he is another colateral damage of the big daobailoutfork . Why is this a constant problem? Since I started with ETH months ago geth synchronization has been a mess. This is such a fundamental function for any coin. If this doesn;t work how can anyone have any confidence in the coin or the development team that is supporting it? Starting a wallet and having it synch should be automatic and without all the aggravation we get from geth and ETH. I know I am venting but is anyone ever going to fix this?

I have the same problem too with getting to sync geth as I have an error message saying: gas used error. I wonder why this has come up. Now, I would be forced to start over syncing with the network from scratch. If anyone could provide me with a recent blockchain data, in order to speed up the process I would greatly appreciate it.
