I have installed wallet version 0.9 on a new computer and sync blockchain, the total size is almost 300GB  Cry

300 GB, it would cost me 60% from my all storage when i buy new computer. Isn't any lighter wallet than that?

Have you read the previous post above you? It doesn't make sense to see you are just trying to increase your post count. That was obviously true because someone said that to reduce the size of the ethereum wallet.
And you were ignoring it.  Cheesy But the cache already made the wallet become oversize.

So, Ethereum Metropolis Hard Fork to Appear on coming Monday. As I came to know, just metropolis update. Not so much as a hard fork. Right?
Yes, as there is a consensus, no hard fork, just a major update in the code. The update has a positive effect on long term as it is meant Ethereum is well following its road map. So, guys get ready for gains over the next few months.

You're confusing your terms.  The Metropolis update can only be done through a hard fork. It brings new features which break the old consensus, so the chain must fork. This doesn't mean there will be a chain split though. Forking a chain is normal, it's how the tech improves and evolves. A chain split occurs when a minority doesn't want to continue with the new, forked chain.

As you mentioned, there's no contention over the Metropolis update, therefore, there won't be a chain split (there will be a hard fork though).  Cool

Why do people keep trying to pretend that there isn’t support for forking at metro or beyond which looks like it’s going to happen

As metropolis update is coming near and atmosphere is preparing to provide suitable environment for maximum appreciation. Ethereum is looking once again very good as price are surging and lot of volume is available to show support for upcoming updates.

Ethereum Price Analysis: ETH/USD Defies Gravity

Ether found support after a sharp decline towards the $200.00 handle against the US Dollar.
There is a reversal pattern forming on the 6-hour chart of ETH/USD, but needs a close above $272.00 for confirmation.
Gains in ETH/BTC were limited since bitcoin price trimmed most of its losses, keeping ETH/BTC below 0.070BTC.
        https://t.co/i1jg4sI5sr

I think there is no need to worry about the price. If there is good development, the price will rise eventually.
The Ethereum market is always an interesting creature to keep an eye on. To this day, it is still the best-performing cryptocurrency which initially started out as a cryptocurrency ICO. Surpassing the growth Ethereum has seen over the past few years will be very difficult, to say the least. Right now, the Ethereum price is trying to climb back to $300. While hovering around $280 for the time being, it seems the Ethereum price may note some big gains sooner rather than later.

its quite a slow climb for something that has so much potential and uses.

I have installed wallet version 0.9 on a new computer and sync blockchain, the total size is almost 300GB  Cry

If you want to save some space, you can erase the chaindata folder and start geth from cmd.exe using --fast flag.

     * Open cmd.exe
     * Navigate to geth directory by running cd %APPDATA%\Mist\binaries\geth and look for geth.exe
     * Execute the following command: geth.exe --fast --cache 1024

You should be around 30 GB.

How can he have 300GB? What else do you have in the Ethereum folder?

Just checked my geth blockchain is 177GByte 97k files.
And the fast one about 62 GByte but that one is a few days behind now.

Yes he can.

For some time by now, geth is automatically syncing in --fast mode when the chaindata folder is empty. That's why some people are complaining about being stuck on the last few blocks when syncing their wallet for the first time.

On the graph below (source: Etherscan) you can see that the full blockchain is some GB above 300. On another Etherscan graph, you'll see that the freshly --fast downloaded blockchain in at 37.6 GB.

Careful, you confused the terms also.  Roll Eyes

Funny that a minority is ready to chain split again. Doesn't seem like a very good reason though. The group is worried PoW miners will stop mining before PoS starts (because of the reduced block reward)? Slim chance! What their post doesn't explain, is that as miners drop off, PoW difficulty will adjust, such that an equilibrium of value/block/miner will be met. Still, it's nice to see some people worry about such things I guess Smiley

At 2014, the closure of one exchange collapses, bitcoin 10 times, and now closing all exchanges in the state is just a stress test, which lowered the rate by only 20%

that is right. The actual trading volume in China is very small.

The other good news for ethereum is Ethereum posted the highest gain among the top six cryptos during Monday’s marketwide recovery, grabbing more than 12%, taking its price to $286.18 and its market capitalization to more than $27 billion, according to coinmarketcap.com. This rally comes as Ethereum prepares to begin deploying its Metropolis protocol upgrade.

Why the https://www.myetherwallet.com is a bad domain? This is very bad in order to protect against fraud. Domain btc.com was bought for 100 million dollars, but the domain eth.com even free

Hi,

Apologies if I am asking something which has been asked already.

The fork is going to be split in two different coins?

I have my ETH in my ledger Nano S wallet, do I need to do something to keep safe my eth and use them in the future?

Thanks!
