Why not hold both altcoins and Bitcoins? It's not necessary that you should be investing in one coin. Diversifying your investments can make your profits bigger if you know what you are doing, right? For me, I focus on just holding my coins until it increases in value. Because, I don't have that much knowledge when it comes to trading. So, I think that I am doing the right thing for now. (Until I research all about trading and stuff).

if you know the market volatility of the bitcoin then nothing to worry about, as long you have enough knowledge and understanding you can hold bitcoin for a long time, and when the right time comes that the bitcoin is in high value then you can sell it in a profitable price.

but many people say that long-term investment provides a big advantage. I've never done it until now, because I'm not ready for long-term investments yet. right now I just do trading only.

Hold is Bitcoin for long time, there is no much profit. You know why ?

Because if you only hold Bitcoin your balance will grow up only on USD rate. For example you hold 1 BTC . Current price 7500$. It's might 10k after some day. But you still have only 1 BTC.

Now think you have 1 btc and you convert it into BCH. Example for 1 BTC you get 10 BCH. Rate per bch is 0.1 BTC .

After some day if Bitcoin grow up, At the same time BCH also will grow up.
If bch rate grow 1.5 btc then you will have 1.5 BTC.

But before buy alt coin please select best coin to avoid dump.

So what you think. Hold alt coin or Bitcoin ?

In fact, holding Bitcoin will bring less profit than holding Altcoins because the growth rate of Bitcoin is not much like Altcoin. But holding Bitcoin bring the safe feeling more than Altcoin

With this strategy, you can reduce your capital with the same probability as you increase it. Most of those who traded lost money in the end. All those who held, increased their capital in fiat money.

to hold Bitcoin in the long term is not required. because indeed for Bitcoin is also quite good for short term like trading. the profitability that we may achieve will be very capable to make Bitcoin trading and see the great opportunity for considerable profit.

i can agree with holding BCH for long term, but only select very potential coin you should hold it for long term investment. everything can be happened in cryptocurrency, the risk of altcoin to be undervalue was too big rather than bitcoin, since bitcoin are the founder of cryptocurrency and most of laypeople only know bitcoin as cryptocurrency. if you selected very good and potential altcoin the case will be the sae with what OP said, but if you fail you have to bear the risk.

In my opinion, that is a very good reason and it makes sense why many people like it from BTC. If very confident for the next one or two years, and with this long-term investment I am sure I can make a lot of money. if you act wisely, find a good alt that has a good team and is actively being developed, then go in for a good price and be patient.

Holding BTC for very long time may not be wise. But think about it, who can tell BTC will rise to $20,000 when it was only $1,000?

I think you are not quite right to think Bitcoin is not good for long-term investments.
Precisely Bitcoin is great for long-term investments because Bitcoin has the potential to develop well in long-term type.
Usually, Bitcoin increase is very large if it is 6-12 months interval.
My friend has proven if he invested with Bitcoin and for a very long time and he got a lot of profits from the investment.

Yep Bitcoin should not be held for a long time. The reason being that it is one of the most volatile crypto in the market and the sudden huge fluctuation can dig a deep hole and make your investments disappear or lose value in no time. So, I would suggest to invest in Ethereum for long time if you wish to. It is the  most stable of all cryptos. Also, if you are willing to earn money, see below ICO for more details.

If it reduces the rate and the price? If you keep Bitcoin even though its price is down, the overall trend is still up because Bitcoin only has a certain number of people in the world. But with altcoin you can not say anything, it's just a prediction

I don't agree with your idea. I think Bitcoin can be held for a long time. If you believe in cryptocurrency, then you can't deny the status of Bitcoin.

Indeed to trade daily that we can not hold Bitcoin for too long because every Altcoins down we always buy with Bitcoin.
But for the market it is now better to hold Bitcoin because Altcoins nearly 70% lost its price.

My portfolio is also reduced by about 45% and it's painful (but I have to be patient)

think if the bitcoin is going down simply purchase and hold and offer if the bitcoin is pump. Dont completely contribute bitcoin in light of the fact that bitcoin is longterm coin like ethereum . On the off chance that you hold a coin give a tolerance and hold up until pump.

Altcoin (alternative cryptocurrency) that has high liquidity will certainly make traders feel more comfortable to trade with large funds. While the small liquidity altcoins like the example below 25BTC or below 10BTC per 24h, he leveraged the traders to invest with large funds. Although there is potential to generate big profits, but he makes traders always restless and need to more often monitor the state of the market. For that ... the smaller the liquidity of an altcoin market, the greater the risk that must be faced.
Trading the altco market is actually less efficient for now, but it has a lot of chances to bring in big profits if you want to invest more time for more in-depth research

Right! I have shared many times on this forum: Do not keep bitcoin for long periods of time. Because their prices are not stable but up or down erratically. Hold it for long periods. Higher losses are more profitable. It depends much on the market risk.

I do not like long-term investments in the crypto market. It makes more sense to make money by buying and selling.
I make more money by buying and selling.
It is necessary to follow the market constantly.
correctly it is necessary to always monitor the market to be in the black
