Just because you personally did not receive a direct reply, does not make your concerns 100% valid. David Stanfill is GPUHoarder. That's been confirmed by him multiple times. He is a co-founder of Squirrels, LLC. He has publicly stated many times that Squirrelsresearch.com is endorsed and a sister company to Squirrels. This was all public knowledge for quite a while now. So the press release is nice, but this wasn't rocket science.

We already had one FPGA scam (Dwarf) recently and I'm sure there will be others. There is no harm in establishing the identity in more than one way. I've seen David's name mentioned but I don't recall any actual proof and I do follow these FPGA threads. So Phil's concern was 100% valid and now we have something to refer to if this question comes up again.

You are very correct that there is no harm in further establishing identity, and I am all about having multiple confirmations of the information. It just sounded to me that he was saying there was not yet a legitimate confirmation. It has already been well established in this thread that most of the information and activity about these products takes place in the discord. All the facts that I stated have been confirmed via the discord many times. On top of that, this has all been confirmed in the interview that GPUHoarder did.

So please don't take my reply to say that I think the press release is meaningless, I am just expressing that with minimal effort this was easily confirmed. I'm not legendary on these forums, and I'm relatively new to crypto compared to you guys, but I was able to find this information out very easily.

But I am defending this site not discord or youtube.

I watched the youtube video and I can tell you in a court of law it would not be proof  the airsquirrels.com is the parent company of squirrels research.com

It would be proof that the interviewee said that airsquirrels.com is the parent company

today's press release would be proof that airqsuirrels.com is the parent company

at least  IMO.

Fair enough. I prefer things to be confirmed right here though. Not everyone wants or trusts discord. And unless discord does KYC any verification on there is about as meaningless as an anonymous account on this forum claiming to be someone. This has nothing to do with legendaries, which is also not an indication of trust in any way. Just some healthy skepticism.

philipma1957 on the other hand is one of the most trusted people on this forum with his real life identity known etc so any business trying to do anything here would be well advised to listen to him when it comes to things like this.

Having said that, identity verification shouldn't be taken as a guarantee of trustworthiness either. Many things can go wrong here. Now at least we'll know who needs to be sued if that happens Smiley

Look Last time I found a big issue it was GAW miners  I exposed the flaw in their nicehash/westhash miners.   It was the first real chink in their armor and I received multiple emails and pms from them that I considered thinly veiled threats.

I remember that. Garza is awaiting sentencing now. Karma is a fine lady.

To be clear airsquirrels.com has been perfectly polite to me via email  the email is in this thread above.  GPUHOARDER was 100% accommodating when I explained the vetting issue that I had.

He cleared it up in under 1 hour's time by issuing the press release today.  So I will buy 1 of each Acorn 2 model and have some fun with them.

What do you guys think of the numbers of Lyra2Rev2 for both CLE-215 and CLE-215+ ? I am still calculating the cost but I have my doubts. You really need two CLE-215+ for higher end cards and that it will cost $660 (the cost of GTX1080Ti - the prices of which will drop soon). It is not that profitable to mine with Lyra2Rev2 these days.

It's great for efficiency. Not so much for price performance considering you can only fit 3x 1080ti and 6 acorns on a threadripper board. That's $700 USD in mobo/cpu.

I can run 8x 1080ti on $140 8 slot riserless mobo with $40 cpu, not 3, but 8 x 1080ti.

What's lacking is a proper epyc or threadripper mobo to take advantage of acorns.

There's also a chart with two CLE-215+ and one gpu.

heh  I looked at the charts  and these acorns do huge boosts to 1050ti's  very impressive. even better for rx 560's

1050ti.....2.64x   +45%.....53%   1.97x   +18%   26%     the hash rate jumps  from 100 to 264 and power jumps 45%

1060.......2.11x   +15%.....93%   1.89x   +18%   39%
1070.......1.71x   +10%.....100%   1.92x   +7%     52%
1070ti......1.60x   +9%.......93%   1.82x   +7%     61%
1080........1.56x +8%......100%   1.74x   +8%     61%
1080ti......1.39x   +7%.......100%   1.76x   +5%    88%
RX550......2.64x+45%.....100%   2.31x   +50%   12%

RX560.....3.35x+20%......96%   2.49x   +32%   24%  the hash rate jumps from 100 to 335 and power jumps 20%

RX570   2.08x+12%.....100%   2.51x   +9%     42%
RX580   1.85x+8%.......100%   2.60x   +6%     61%
Vega 56   1.44x+5%.......100%   2.55x   +5%    94%
Vega 64   1.36X+5%.......100%   2.36x   +4%    100%

THREAD-RIPPER 1950X

Testing performed on a system with one Acorn and one GPU.

* Gains from Acorn are based on preliminary data and may change prior to product shipment.

As I read this with a 1050ti 53% of the acorn 215+ is used  so a 215+ will cover 2 1050ti's  at pretty much full strength at max setting

This is an error
but on a 1050ti on a lower setting i go from 100% to 197% hash and can cover 4x  1050ti's with a power jump of only 18%

the rx 560 is really nice on the lower setting 1 acorn cover 4 rx560's

jumps hash from 100% to 249% and power cost is 32% more

so I turn 4 rx 560's into 4rx 580's and use less power am I correct here?

AMD Radeon RX560 2/4GB Graphics Card for Monero Mining

XMR Mining hashrate   300 H/s   Overclocked XMR Mining hashrate   N/A
Power consumption   120 W   Recommended PSU Power   500 W
GPU Temperature    63 C   Memory   4 GB
Memory Interface   GDDR5   Bus Support

will do 750 at 158 watts  and I can boost four with the 215+

Before making any further assumptions and purchase decisions, one important information is missing:
How is SQRL-miner speed in comparison with respectable algo fastest miners? I assume increase factors are SQRL-mining hashrates with or without Acorn(s).

Why would you need two of those? For me, I have 2 GTX 1080 Ti, 1 is not enough?
And another question, im using a m.2 as a maindrive so I dont have any slot left. Would this work? https://www.reichelt.de/adapter-usb-3-1-m-2-sata-mit-gehaeuse-delock-42570-p164002.html?PROVID=2788&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-JvaBRDGARIsAFjqkkpT7foY34vGTqYxoMjDAF0dysxef5O3oE7e-bD5ghK12USJPJRvkm0aAo-EEALw_wcB&

as I read the chart

  1 1080ti at higher speed uses 100% of 1 acorn 215+
  1 1080ti at lower speed uses 88% of 1 acorn 215+

the cards that really do well are the 1050ti the 1060 the rx 560

I may be reading the chart wrong.

maybe gpuhoarder will step in and clarify this
Wow, if you really need to buy an Acorn for every GTX 1080Ti, that would be really expensive...
Well, lets wait and hope  Grin

Will see how it goes.

and yes someone mentions the mining software here:

it could be really good compared to old school software
it could be about the same as " " "
or it could suck compared to     " " ".

so pretend an rx 560  does 300 on an  old school monero program  pulling 120 watts
on this software  and 1 acorn2  it may do 750   pulling  158 watts

and 1 acorn 2 would cover 4 of them at the lower setting

so rx560's could get a good boost here

It would be interesting to see what this accelerator would do with older cards such as the R9 380, 280/290, and 7970 series,

This is super exciting.

What gets me is that I will need an Acorn for everyone of my 1060's I have in my rig? I have 2 X 12 of them.
I might get the 215+ and run it as a "FPGA" mining on its own.

Would like to see numbers on equihash etc.
Would like to make those Z9's dumpsterworthy

This is an error on my part.

To go from 100% to 189%. On a 1060 39% of a 215+ would be used

So 3 1060s May jump from 100% to 170%

And 2 1060s would get the boost from 100% to 189%

I read charts wrong

Why would you need two of those? For me, I have 2 GTX 1080 Ti, 1 is not enough?
And another question, im using a m.2 as a maindrive so I dont have any slot left. Would this work? https://www.reichelt.de/adapter-usb-3-1-m-2-sata-mit-gehaeuse-delock-42570-p164002.html?PROVID=2788&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-JvaBRDGARIsAFjqkkpT7foY34vGTqYxoMjDAF0dysxef5O3oE7e-bD5ghK12USJPJRvkm0aAo-EEALw_wcB&

That adapter won't support the Acorn. The slots in it are B key, the Acorn is M key.

Edit: The ASUS Hyper does, if you can find one.

For what it's worth, philipma1957, that's also a good mobo for use with the FPGA.

The way it looks, the Acorn is good at taking over core-intensive tasks. Hence, the weaker your GPU, the more the Acorn will improve hashrate. Furthermore, this also implies (as GPUhoarder mentioned already) that memory intensive algos like EThash will not see much improvement.

Conclusion: If you have RX570's/GTX1060's or weaker, an Acorn or two would be a decent addition. If your rig uses more powerful GPUs it might just not be worth it.
