Either prove it can do what it originally was sold to do or start issuing refunds.

How much skin do you have in this game? Did you purchase Acorns or Nest cards? I have skin in the game and so do others here.

Phil had skin in the game, requested a refund for the gear he ordered, and received it a while ago. Maybe not as fast as he would have liked, but he did receive a refund. Many others have done the same for Acorns, Nests, and BCUs. If you want a refund I'll bet that if you contacted SQRL support they'd refund your money.

I opted to stick it out for basically the same reasons as vapourminer. I went in with my eyes wide open knowing that there were likely to be some hiccups along the way. That's almost always the case with pre-order hardware and software to power it. I'll take my lumps and bumps and see where things go when the bear market reverses Soon(TM).

^^^ Yes, this exactly.  Lots of complaining from people who received refunds.  Once your money is returned, I think that is the end of it.  It hasn't been smooth sailing, but the Discord chatter is promising and hardware has been delivered.  Is it on time?  No.  Is that much of a surprise in Cryptoville?  No.  You want to really piss yourself off, go deal with Obelisk.

Well if you really want me to add it up.  Let’s see I started in March of 2014 learning about mining etc.  spent countless hours all nighters etc keeping up with this drama queen shit.  Not to mention the money.  A farm now that collects dust.  Dectralized they said.  My ass!!  As usual it always filters to whoever has more resources.  Everyone likes to tout that btc had a “fair” start.  Bs.  Only fair launch would be upon a world with equal resources. Every person on earth gets one machine.  Yea I know I’m dreaming. But so are you to think this can ever work.  So there!   Anyway I have actual human effort spent on this.  I don’t have more money than braincells that I can spend more than I can afford to lose.  My situation is such than I can’t afford to lose any more than I got.  This project failed me and countless others.  Don’t be naive. It’s part of its design.  Yes you will be on that list eventually. Mark my words

BR

So are you saying you can't wait for the SQRL Miner to be released?

Yes actually I’d love to see it happen. (Not for me of course)  More people are getting burnt the longer this drags on.  What they didn’t know was this is par for the course in crypto.  At some point this isn’t alpha tech.  FPGA been out many years.  As with the software to mine on these Algos.  Many things went wrong here.  Unproven claims were made and advertised.  Do I think they need sued. No. I honestly think this was well intentioned but to those of us that have seen this time and time again well....   I guess it’s my bad for projecting onto them what I thought they should have known.  Next time instead of assuming they have been in this scene for a minute we all should have asked the proper questions. Like Phil said mfurman asked the hard questions.  That should have set of many red flags for you folks.  A hard lesson learned seems to stick with one the best.  “Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me”!

No rumors of a lawsuit for lack of a miner to be provided. ( I meant mining software )

They had all those acceleration numbers posted in June or July.

They never demo'd an acorn  and no proof that an acorn could do those claims.

I feel lawsuits are coming.

To be fair if the gear can do as claimed maybe ohGodaGirl  fucked him hard and is refusing to give him the software to make it so.

I think she wanted more money for that software he said no and figured they could write it.  So far a real beating to those that purchased the gear.

My thanks to mfurman and his constant attacks on discord I know he is why I bailed out and saved myself 800 usd.

I wonder how many others bailed due to his constant questioning.

Hats off to mfurman!

Hey if ohGodaGirl is holding up the software someone can email me so I will know it is true.

WOW. I did not expect it :-) Thank you. I thought that the miner was a critical proof that the checks had been done. I wanted to try it with GPUs only to test the quality of boost

I agree about the 'drama queen' aspect of Crypto.  But anyone who has ever done tech support of any kind, and done it well, knows about what a vast time suck technology can present.

However, I fall on the side of "they are well-intentioned," this isn't a scam, but yes it is late.  If you want to raise constructive red flags in the future, I think that is a good thing to do.  But with so many real scams out there, why go after a project where you suspect the people behind it are well-intentioned?  I don't quite follow that.  Of all the targets you could pick, why this particular one?

Yes, if I recall he spoke out against the Zcash group for saying "fork!" and then "hey, we won't fork."  I understood that better.  I have gotten quite worked up about certain scams.  This doesn't seem to fit in that bucket. That's what I am wondering about.

Edit:  If you buy what d57heinz is saying, we are all wasting our time (and our money).  Whether you are looking at other ASIC hardware, or other FPGA solutions that are shipping, ALL of it will come to nothing-I think that is his point.  But I notice that people are very much exploring other options.  Not much excitement about any GPU that I can find, but all kinds of threads about new hardware.  If it will all prove to be an enormous waste, then I can think of better targets than this one.  So I am left head-scratching.  That's all.

Yeh, there are a lot of people on these mining boards of late, saying that mining is stupid, pointless and worthless.

Maybe they are right, but I don't go down to my local Ford showroom every day to tell them how terrible their cars are... Methinks they doth protest too much...

for me  if they had the software I would want one to play with.

My fingers are in a lot of pies.

but  waiting  for gear in this day and age  no longer works for me.

I can get  all kinds of gear in under 10 days.  with cc or paypal  and I have a large credit line with paypal six months zero interest.

So buying a gear in July and waiting to August  was a stretch for me.  Multiple postponements for the gear to come and I did not ask for refund until one day I realized gear would come without software.  I did not want the annoyance.  And got a refund 10  days  before btc tanked.

I was luck but it was not for the money  this was to be a fun buy a toy to play with.

Was not meant   but I will buy one once it has software.

Your preaching to the choir, I decided that these fpga's were not worth the risk to pre order.
I've seen too many of these things fail as well.
I have no clue how all these retards pre buy games from large corporations and then cry when the game is shit and they can't return it.
And then they do it again the next AAA title, sheeple I'll never understand them.

This is mining gear though and not some extremely accessible videogame. How many times has the first run be affordable and then the demand goes insane and the cost is nuts to try and jump on? I guess I take Gamble's with hardware.

Everyone's risk tolerance level is different as long as you know what it is before making a move then you are doing it right.

I was making a extreme example of the foolishness of the masses.

Mining hardware pre-orders aren't very fairly compared to video game sale pre-orders.

Anyways, Acorns are a proven working item for solo mining, so I am still confident that they will be GPU assist mining as well.  With the downturn in the market who knows how long the ROI may be, but that's something that applies to all mining hardware in the past 6 months.

Phil
What I’m “anti” is bullshit.  Remember the days of you shilling for bitmain.  I kept asking why you kept promoting a company that was extremely harmful to this whole project.  Course I was the bad guy for shitting on your way to make a few bucks.  This meant more to me than just making a few bucks. (Yea that’s a good part of it but truth is far more worth than what this could ever be valued in paper) I have a longing for truth.  The way the world works manifested by capitalism make a logical reasonable person go crazy.  Maybe that’s the point.  Sales are easier when the people are ignorant.   I did speak out against ASICS for sia.  But after realizing this is supposed to be a “free” market I said hey let’s let them have what they want.   Now we can all see how that played out.  Crypto is like running a company with 1000 bosses all have a brilliant idea of how the company should work.  Now let’s find consensus.   Seriously. I feel like such the fool.

Willj

Well intentioned in the idea of bringing fpga to the smaller guy.(later to find it was all smoke and mirrors)  I sure as hell wouldn’t dump 5k on a graphics card. Well intentioned in trying to step on the big guys that can dump a million on ASICS gpu fpga etc.  some semblance of decentralization. (They won’t bother messing with this kids stuff) Like I’ve said and I’ll say it again. Unequal resources tariffs etc will cause crypto to centralize into the hands of those it’s thought to defend against.   Yes I’d expect a reasonable critical thinking society to disregard this as nothing more than a “hype” ledger;). It duped me too. What bitcoin solves isn’t for the masses it’s for the rich and powerful.  Less middle men so that we aren’t needed. Is that it?  Is that the end goal?  Robots can’t question authority. Remember this folks.  Where do you want your future to end up.  Something to think about!  What’s more logical?  Millions having our own personal robot assistants Or millions of robots owned by one?  Leaving people hang out to dry   What greed does is clouds you to the fact that we do have to share this planet.  I suspect within the next twenty years greed will be looked upon with the same disgust as cancer.  Of course my idealistic world and those blinded by capitalism have a long way to go before meeting in the middle.  Anyway willj. I’ll say that was quite the contradictory statement I made.  I’ll do better next time!   Thanks for calling me out. That’s how people make the most significant changes in their life.  Being called out for their BS!

That’s how people make the most significant changes in their life.  Being called out for their BS!

BR

BR, I wasn't calling you out for any sort of BS.  I was more just trying to understand your view and your argument.  I am hopeful for mining, I may be wrong, I just don't happen to have a crystal ball.

PM me if you haven't, I have some questions that would be better addressed via PMs.

Christmas is here. 7 month since the first post with the GPU accelerating specs.

All the fear about the FPGAs kicking out the "normal" at home miner guys....

Back then a GTX 1080 Ti had 15 MH/s ... now its a GTX 1070 reaching that hashrate.

Are your accelerationrates from june still up to date or was the gap closed by better miner software like t-rex for X16r e.g.?
Any statements to current acceleration values for X16R?

ill answer your troll.

i shut down my gpus a couple weeks ago, they are just losing money at this point. so all those miner improvements for gpus are moot to me, they all lose money. only mining with acorns and a bcu1525 right now.

x16r is supposed to be available for the bcus in january. who know really though. sqrl acorn gpu boost miner? soon? maybe.

i also have faith that the sqrl team will deliver new bitstreams and the sqrl gpu boost miner. is that misplaced faith? perhaps. but until then, i also have popcorn.
