I've attempted to contact Mr. Takei through Facebook and Twitter. I'm pretty sure he has read my messages, although I know he is getting so much of it that some may slip past his eyes. I have not received a reply which is not a wonder. There were problems between the original TAKEICOIN project and Mr. Takei, or perhaps with the production company through which the developers had their discussion with Uncle George. In addition to the fact that being able to respond even to a fraction of the messages Mr. Takei must receive daily, I'm sure he wants to be sure there is nothing fishy going on. To be more specific, that no-one is trying to rip off anyone using his name.
I'll send Mr. Takei yet another tweet, asking him to come and read this thread. I would appreciate it if all of you TAK[EI] fans who feel like doing so could write a short (or long;) message in this thread, in which you tell Uncle George something personal about yourself, why you support TAK and what's your general take on crypto currency. It would be great if you could provide your insights into how you see the TAK can advance Tolerance, Acceptance and Knowledge to spread in the world, and how you see that all connects Mr. Takei and the characters he has portrayed over the years. I believe for most of us here the connection is made through the principles Mr. Roddenberry loaded Start Trek full of.
To do my part, I'll share with you the fact that I'm a 40-year old entrepreneur who has pretty much f*cked up everything in his life. Not everything, but I'd say most things. At least the most important ones. I've been through a hell of a deep poverty, which many would question since you can see me here in the Net so I can't be as poor as someone living under a boat. Poverty, however, is always a subjective thing that depends on the surrounding environment. I live in Finland where the temperature is below -20 degrees Celsius almost half a year, so just moving to the forest simply isn't an option. Also, I have had the incredible fortune of having few loving and supportive people around me - most importantly my parents, but many others as well. I've been kept alive by their support for years already, while I've been trying to put my show together after going through a bankruptcy, being crushed to the ground through disappointments in the area of love, starting to loose my health and finishing the deal by smoking (or, actually, vaporizing) rather huge amounts of pot over the period of about seven years.
I've been miserable, doing everything I can to get my businesses back on track in a virtually impossible situation, where all the money I have had has come from some of my closest relatives or friends. I've saved from everything else, including my health, in order to be able to keep the tools I need to be able to support myself again. Those tools are in my case a bunch of computers and the Internet. So I'm here, but so poor that I can't afford basically anything else at all.
After years of failed attempts where the most significant victories have been that some of my ideas have been stolen by rather visible people and companies - the first thing that has given me any hope are the alternative crypto currencies. There are many ways how I can use the skills I've trained during these past years of desperation to make things happen on the coin scene. Everything is moving towards better now for me, and although I'm still struggling to get even the most basic necessities of life, there is something sensible I can do to enhance my situation.
Several extremely interesting projects have kicked off in a very short amount of time, and the hopeless feeling that I've had about everything is fading quickly. So although perhaps not the most typical case, I still am one living example of how alternative crypto coins can significantly better the life. There are
so many other ways I really don't know where to start listing them.
TAK[EI] coin could be
the currency for funding and financing operations that bring people not just Tolerance, Acceptance and Knowledge but also hope.
I hereby propose that the TAK community creates a fund; a wallet where everyone who owns TAKs can transfer the amount of their choosing. The collection will be open from 2014-010-11 to 2014-11-11, on which date the wallet and the key to it will be given to Mr. Takei. He then has the possibility to choose, if he wants to give the funds in his possession the power to actually enhance people's lives. By endorsing the TAK Mr. Takei can give the coins in his wallet a power to, for example, create schools (perhaps named "Starfleet Academies") to areas where they are needed the most.
Currency gets it's value from people's trust and appreciation.
Mr. Takei, you can make TAK a real currency that can be used to do lots and lots of good - simply by endorsing it.
We'll provide you with the coins, it's your call whether or not you wish to give them the power to change the world.
