Crypto ATMs in Sofia Thwart Stubborn Banks, But Change Is On the Way in Bulgaria

Bulgaria has been through some lean times recently in crypto space due to bank crackdowns, but perhaps the rise in Bitcoin ATMs in the country’s capital Sofia may invigorate local enthusiasm at least.
Bitcoin News reported recently how banks have taken a largely prohibitive stance towards the trading of cryptocurrency, partly due to the failure of the Bulgarian government to produce any forward-thinking legislative policy in this space.

Crypto Insurance Industry is Expanding, Insurers are Keeping it Quiet

Several industry insiders have opened up about the hush business of cryptocurrency insurance, but they are not sharing much, and many more aren’t sharing anything at all.
Substantial premiums are attracting the most prominent providers.
While they may not want their names attached to cryptocurrency insurance, AIG, Chubb and XL Group have all been proving insurance for stolen assets. With the blockchain industry exploding, and Bitcoin gaining more mainstream acceptance in its wake, insurance companies are betting the substantial premiums of protecting digital assets may outweigh the potential costs. By capitalizing on the crypto industry’s arguably undeserved ‘bad reputation,’ underwriters are reportedly charging business five times more and beyond for coverage.

CoinMarketCap has been recording the percentage market share of Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies, referred to as the dominance percentage, since mid-2013. According to this data, Bitcoin has always had the biggest market cap compared to all other cryptocurrencies by far but throughout time, its dominance percentage has been changing. The evolution of this reveals important trends in the crypto space, including the rise of decentralized apps and ICOs, and also suggests that a big Bitcoin rally might be beginning.

The British Press and Getting It All Wrong About Bitcoin

How accurate the news is when it comes down to Bitcoin may just depend on where the reader chooses to source the information, especially if reliant on the British press.
Bitcoin is unquestionably a readable topic, whether in the daily newspaper or online; “finger bait” as it’s then called. But where does the reader turn to for accuracy? Clearly, judging by reports, not the British press.

Australian Women Leading the Way in Blockchain

Women in Australia are making strides in the blockchain sector and turning the tables on their male counterparts.
Technology sectors have long been dominated by males, as evidenced at the ratio visible at conferences and funding rounds, where although success stories abound, they have been historically lacking in those which report women moving the industry ahead to bigger and better things.

EU: Central Banks Crypto Adoption Would Broaden Markets

A recent report on fintech development commissioned by an EU committee reveals that central banks adoption of a CBDC would alter competition levels cryptocurrency markets.
The European Parliament Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (Econ) reports that there would need to be some kind of realignment in the market which would broaden the number of players in the market, and if this were the case it would not necessarily be beneficial to Bitcoin. The latest G20 summit, held on Sunday in Buenos Aires, came to the conclusion that cryptocurrency is not a threat to global financial stability.
Cryptocurrency is considered a drop in the bucket still, with the collective market capitalization of the entire sector worth less than 1% of the world GDP, even during December 2017’s peak.

Mike Novogratz Says Institutional Investors Are Stampeding into Crypto

Expert cryptocurrency investor Mike Novogratz said during a speech at Blockchain Week Korea that “a herd of institutional investors” is moving into the crypto space. His opinion is shared by other experts, like Ethereum co-founder Charles Hoskinson who says tens of trillions of dollars will be invested into crypto from institutional investors. If this is accurate, it could lead to the biggest crypto rally in history by far since the total crypto market cap is still below USD 300 billion as of this writing on 23 July 2018.
