DUSK's use case is not just for the payments only. So, monero and dusk differ in many ways.

That's correct, Monero is mainly used for payments while we will offer much more! Dusk network is a network and as such has a very sharp focus on confidential data transmission. This means unidirectional atomic transaction (transfer of value), bidirectional atomic transactions (purchase of asset - you give money and receive an asset in return) and bidirectional time-unbound transactions (basically streaming, audiovisual calls and conferencing, etc)

Would you say that Dusk is to Monero what Ethereum is to Bitcoin?

It's not quite right to ask this question now. Monero (as well as ETH or BTC) is an already completed and working platform, and DUSK is only developing, its future is a secret for us now. Moreover, those three are just coins and DUSK plan to be more than that.

This is a good comparison, if I understand the concept correctly.

This sounds just a right comparison. As discussed few post back this is planning to be an improved version of monero, something more.

Last week co-founder of DUCK Jelle Pol took part at Blockchain conference in Kiev and talked about privacy.

https://twitter.com/DuskFoundation/status/1044519338324250624

And today Emanuele Francioni (Project and Tech Lead of DUCK) took part in conference in London

Would you say that Dusk is to Monero what Ethereum is to Bitcoin?

That's an interesting comparison, although on Ethereum it's possible to launch ICO's while on DUSK we're aiming for the STO's. Launching smart contracts on Dusk Network is something for the future and not our main priority as of now.

Regarding smart contracts on Dusk Network;
"Providing support for smart contracts translates almost directly into adding support for Turing-complete scripting on a blockchain. It is a very daunting task. Smart contract platforms present order of magnitude higher complexity than focused propositions because they need to support unforeseen use cases and need to scale by doing so. This is why smart contract platforms have geological release cycles, need outrageously high investments. We think that focused propositions with limited scripting capabilities are way more agile, especially if they follow the comparability principle of interoperation"

This is definitely a trustworthy review, Jelle explains Dusk in a somewhat easier to understand way.

So, i am puzzled by the roadmap and trying to figure it out.... The wallet comes before the testnet... I thought you needed a testnet for a wallet... How does that work? Also what is a devnet?

You're correct! The wallet will be used to test the functionality of the network and will be lacking a GUI for now as there's no need for an average user to use the wallet before mainnet launch. A devnet is required to test the core features of the platform before the launch of the testnet/mainnet to make sure the critical sections of the platform are secure and bug-free.

You can read more aboutt ICO's vs STO's here! And yes, DUSK will start out as an ERC20 tokens until the mainnet launch where the ERC20 equivalent must be swapped to the native DUSK token.

That is very understandable, I'm sure the devs would make the necessary testings before they release the mainnet to avoid any untoward issues.

Of course, if there are those kind of problems once its working the damage would be much bigger.

In the script, what is the forecast for launching Mainet for testing, is there any kind of volunteer participation for this to happen?
