I honestly think that they are playing a different game altogether. There are lot's of ways to use distributed ledgers and ETH is not the one and only solution.

Dusk Network Development Update - October

A monthly development update series created to embrace the transparency and inclusivity that we strive for at Dusk Network.



Development
An eventful month for the development team at Dusk! With the core cryptography module almost done and dusted, we are slowly starting to ramp up our work on the most unique module of Dusk Network - the consensus module. Our cryptography module consists of Ristretto curve, Bulletproof, MLSAG and Pedersen Commitment implementations alongside helper cryptographic functions. Parallelly, our developers have been working on a wiring module - the artery of the platform. The wiring module, otherwise known as a networking layer, includes Secure Tunnel Switching (STS) and Garlic Routing.

We are on track to launch the devnet in December 2018, which will enable the community to see the project’s core modules in action and allow the team to assess the performance metrics on a live network. More details about the launch will be revealed later.



Research
The addition of Dmitry Khovratovich, the co-creator of Equihash, Argon2 and Guru algorithms is crucial in our mission to innovate. With his help, the team is researching alternative mechanisms to non-interactive verifiable secret sharing, which can potentially increase the throughput of the consensus while continuing to conceal the blind bids. Apart from the aforementioned research, Dmitry is helping the team to improve our cryptography library.

Our team is in the process of reworking the Dusk Network technical documentation. Having improved on a few major technical aspects of the original whitepaper, we think that it is the right time to update the outdated documentation. We are scheduling the release of the updated whitepaper and a brand new SBA⋆ technical paper alongside the devnet launch in December 2018.



Community
With the announcement of our partnership with iFinex, Dusk Network has secured a dual free listing on both Bitfinex and Ethfinex, as well as becoming the first token to be offered through the Ethfinex Token Sale platform.

After a successful conclusion of the Telegram AMA with Richard Sanders, the co-founder of CipherBlade and Dusk Foundation Advisor, the team is working hard to plan similar events with other team members and advisors.

Yes, the code is going to be audited in modules by a 3rd party before being made public.

The cryptography module and the wallet are going to be made public quite soon.

so the value of the hard cap has been increased at the request of the partners ,nice move the project is going well team have to think big, i do not like that the price of the token has also been increased

What was the reason for the partners to demand the increase? They got a discount and now everyone else should pay more or will there be more tokens available?

Don't (or maybe shouldnt) early investors always get the best deals? They are taking the most risk. As projects get more established, it should cost more to get invested.

Fair enough but more people are likely to tune in to something easy as Telegram. However we'll be looking into Youtube to see what the possibilities are.

I agree. The whitepaper is too technical and is a bit difficult to comprehend for the less tech savvy people including me. If only they could produce a less technical whitepaper for everybody then it could be great.

Well, you can always read about the concept from their blog and watch their videos, they have been useful to me as i am not fluent with maths and coding.

I don't think they are plannig to update the whitepaper as they think that the technical part should give an extensive idea about the project.

even if i do not think they will do it, maybe they should do a second simplified whitepaper that contains only the main points of the project without the technical part, alternatively one is informed by the blog and the videos...

The simple version to accompany the technical one will be ideal therefore ordinary investors can get the main idea without the need to read something that they don't understand.

Yes, 25 ETH is obviously the minimum purchase. This is still quite a lot, too much for me at the moment.
