What are the specs of your machine?

I experienced those problems with both a Pentium D 3GHz and an Atom D330 1,6GHz system. Both were only running with 1 GB of ram, and both did not have this issue when fitted with 2GB of RAM, but in fairness I have switched a lot between Windows7 and Linux Distro's on those machines so I do not know if that extra GB fixed it.

AMD E2-1800 APU 1.7 GHz. 4 GB RAM.

Question: Why does the program need much of the processor/RAM?

I did not find anything like

"Add file from URL..." in your client, usually under "File"

in my wallet program.

Anyway, I do not own many BLK and do not want to go too much into detail, I will just exchange the BLK in some other altcoin and probably forget the problem. If some blackcoin supporter wants to solve the problem, go ahead... I thought the system and the black halo wallet (or whatever it is) was interesting, too, but had problems with the program (64 bit version), too. So probably, I give up and turn to one of the 10000 other altcoins...

Thanks

After BTC38 another exchange with BLK/CNY pair and some volume, was around 30k USD some days ago. 0.1% fees if i am not wrong, check it out:

http://www.jubi.com/coin/blk/

Jubi is currently the exchange with the most volume for BTC as well.

According to coinmarketcap http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/#markets , it has the most BTC vs fiat volume for fee-collecting exchanges  (Fee-free exchanges are excluded from the ranking).

Also it seems to be a chinese only exchange.

New coins are only generated via staking at 1% interest/year (compounding if you are staking 24/7). Current coin supply is 74,816,158 BLK.

find a list of software and online wallets, exchanges and FIAT retailers at http://reddit.com/r/blackcoin/ (all linked in the sidebar).

Details about BlackHedge.co have been revealed:

Original post and discussion: A brief introduction to Blackhedge : blackcoin

Quote
There has been lot of queries regarding Blackhedge. As one of the founders of Blackhedge I thought it would be proper to put up a brief primer on Blackhedge explaining about ourselves and our services and how you can profit from it before it fully goes functional. Those of you who have not visited our website yet can visit us at http://www.blackhedge.co .

In short Blackhedge is the world's first Altcoin centric proprietary trading firm. That is simply we trade all fiat asset classes ( forex, stocks, commodities, bonds) and also crypto currencies with company owned shareholder funds and pay dividends to our shareholders in purely BLK .( This is unlike some bitcoin based hedgefunds who only trade bitcoins)We also finance BLK centric crypto projects and promote blackcoin technology.

Most of you by now are probably thinking that we are yet another crypto scam site who will disappear with the money overnight. Most of you might question that is it even legal ??The main issue with most cryptocoiners is trust so far I understand and we are not even asking you to trust us.

We are a proper registered firm managing our company owned funds and also acting as a money manager for three very reputed and regulated brokerage houses. As I said you do not need to trust us to make money from us :-). All you have to do is open an account with one of the brokers we are affiliated under and copy our trades in our account. So you do not have to pay money to us directly. You have full control of your money and you may withdraw it anytime you like minus our performance fees which varies from 15 -20 % which the broker directly debits from your account in case of a profit. We also accept clients from U.S and Canada.Sounds interesting ?? Read on.

For Non U.S clients

Minimum investment :- 100 USD Minimum top up :- 20 USD Performance fee:- 15 % Withdrawal penalty :- Nil Deposit :- Bank Wire/Credit Card and various e-currencies Broker :- Fxopen ( regulated in New Zealand) To open an account all you have to do is to click the following link and invest under our trade signals https://pamm.fxopen.com/en/Pamm/Blackhedge6

For U.S/Canada based clients Minimum investment :- 500 USD Performance fee :- 20 % Withdrawal penalty :- Nil Deposit Mode :- Bank Wire/Credit Cards Broker:- Tallinex( regulated in St. Vincents and Grenadines) To open an account please click the following link open an account http://www.tallinex.com/open-account?i=127745&s=127745

Also note we are not responsible if the broker does not open your account because of the lack of documents on your part or because of their anti- money laundering policies. We also do not provide tax or financial planning advise to clients availing this service. Need futher help or clarifications you can email us at info@blackhedge.co

Also note a major percentage of the performance fees will go towards financing BLK projects and development of the blackcoin eco system.

Further questions you might be pondering upon would be - 1)Is Blackhedge a ponzi scheme ? 2)If it is not a ponzi then is it profitable ? 3)Credentials of the Blackhedge traders ?

1) It cannot be a ponzi scheme because we do not accept any direct money from clients. We manage only our self owned shareholder(member) money .There are no guaranteed quantum of profits.Profits depend upon the performance of our traders.

2) Well you can follow our live trades in twitter at @Blackhedge_ Our trading statistics can be certified and tracked at a reputed third party website http://myfxbook.com/members/blackhedge . Yes we do make money. Need more mind boggling stats ?mail us we will be happy to flood you with more stats.

3)Traders trading our accounts have atleast one international financial certification i.e either a CFA( Certified Financial Analyst) or someone who has cleared all three levels of CMT ( Chartered Market Technician) Program from Market Technicians Association, New York. It is a prerequisite for anyone handling our accounts. We do not guarantee any certain quantum of profits but we do ensure that the trades you follow are done by professional qualified traders. As one of the founders of Blackhedge I have over 10 years of trading experience in the financial markets with both the certifications mentioned.

If one wants to make a more active association with us in the capacity of a shareholder, we are open to private equity placements.Shareholders ofcourse gets their dividend in blackcoins and enjoy superior returns by participating directly in the growth of the company.

Current Status :- Trading is on and interested folks and copy our trades and also contribute to the growth of blackcoin.

Future Plans :- We are working on some other features of our website which will be online soon enough. We are also in the process of developing some pure blackcoin based financial products which I cannot elaborate right now for the sake of confidentiality.

I hope members of this community will support us in this venture and together we can make a great coin i.e Blackcoin the greatest.

Always bet on BLK.

Please share your views with us in this thread/email us at info@blackhedge.co/follow us at twitter @Blackhedge_

Can someone tell me - does Bithalo require you to download the whole bitcoin blockchain?

I downloaded it but I can't see any indication that its synching either on Bithalo or blackhalo mode. I just want to have a play and test out the smart contracts so getting either one working would be ok, but I'd prefer to use bitcoin.

via @phs-forum on bitcointalk!

Here is part of calc on BTC at time of March 2015, maybe expert people do more research into this, from this perspective need of fully POS coins is given by math.

Code:

I updated current Bitcoin electric energy consumption, calculated like here:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2hlwpy/5_terrawatt_per_hour_bitcoin_network/cktv3xl

BTC global hashrate:
360.000.000 Megahash/Second

Source: https://blockchain.info/charts/hash-rate

Current mining efficiency:
Optimistic: 0.51 Wh per Gigahash/s

Source: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=902305.0

Consumption of the network per year:
(360 000 000 / 1000) * 0.51 = 183 600 kWh per hour

183 600 x 24 x 365 = 1 608 336 000 kWh p.a. = 1.6 Terrawatthours per year

Please correct some numbers you know better, even if 10% is real, too much carbon is burning in this moment, possible >1,6 million tons of coal a year, by a software with only 3 billions market cap, what else can go wrong?

Hi

In fact the starting point is 0.51 J/GH, which equates 0,000277778 Wh/GH, not 0.51 Wh per GH/s

This is a pretty tricky conversion to use to go from Joules to KWh and Wh: 1J = (1/3600000)kWh = 1 Ws = 0,000277778 Wh
This can help: http://www.unitconversion.org/unit_converter/energy.html

In addition, the total Hashrate is 360 000 000 GH/s, not MH/s.

Then if you assume 1,842 kWh per ton of Coal following US Energy Information Administration, the estimate would be >870'000 tons of coal...
Source: http://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.cfm?id=667&t=6

See below-
Power Efficiency    0,51        J/GH
Total BTC GH/s    360 000 000,00        GH/s
Total BTC GH/H    1 296 000 000 000,00        GH/H

Hourly BTC energy consumption (J/H)    662 025 974 025,97        J/H
Hourly BTC energy consumption (KWh/H)    183 896,10        KWh/H

Yearly BTC energy consumption (KWh/Y)    1 610 929 870,13        KWh p.a.

Tons of Coal/Kwh    0,0005429        T/KWh
Yearl coal consumption    874 554,76        T p.a.

I've double-checked with the calculator from Coinwarz and the math square. On average, the J/GH consumption may be roughly double of the AntMiner you used as a starting point - so  you have ultimately produced a good estimate of Coal consumption Wink

This is indeed VERY bad.

my resume:DONT mine,buy PoS/coins...woooohoooo  Cool

No it does not. BitHalo uses 3 different apis Blockchain.info, Biteasy and Electrum. BlackHalo does download the blockchain. I may give BitHalo users the option to download the blockchain in the future.

is blackcoin dying? Tongue

Rat4 is still doing commits to Blackcoin. And I'm also making software and working daily on Blackcoin. BlackHalo will have NightTrader decentralized exchange very soon. I recommend people support this amazing coin.

Blackcoin does also have decentralized markets now. The only coins in the world to have this is Blackcoin Bitcoin and Bitbay. Those markets are perfectly trustless, they dont use arbiters and leverage smart contracts. This party is just about to get started.

The markets have been in private tests for several days. There will be a full public release in a couple days or we can wait for all of the "user friendly templates" to be completed. Its up to you guys. The templates may take a couple weeks. NightTrader is one of them. NT may take an extra couple weeks though to get more coins on the exchange and see if i can run spv clients.

One of the many reasons people will want to use Blackcoin over Bitcoin is NightTrader exchange will be able to perform the escrows much faster with Blackcoin as the security deposit. Realize since they are deposits, volatility wont matter at all. You only need BC to leverage the microtrader.

Is it necessary to wait for confirmation(s) before the trade can occur? How big of a risk do you estimate it would be to accept zero confirm collaterals?
