I love how my server basically pays for it's own electricity due to staking, while also providing many more vms.
That's what its all about sorta good coins pay for themselves and then some.

Hello, I have a few suggestions to make. As most of you know, when Satoshi published his whitepaper, a handful of people got really interested into this magic internet money idea. BLK's case isn't different. Main developer/creator is kind of busy with his real life, so it's normal there's not much excitement in general. This doesn't mean the coin is "dead" or not being developed. I've been spending some time on BLK Slack and I've met a lot of wonderful people, who have coding skills and invest their time into this open source project. For the ones who've done open source, you know how non profitable it can be. Being a beggar on the street is much more profitable. So, if you're interested to support this open source project, what I'd like to suggest is: - Encourage people to test BLK, they've got nothing to lose, except download a 3+ year old chain. (zing.)
- Reward the ones who contribute code. There's 76M coins in circulation, I'm sure most of us wouldn't mind to buy a coffee for a friend.
- If the community wants to see "BLK" succeeding, rebrand to a better name. (see: DRK/DASH case.)
- Since most of altcoins are being announced on this specific forum, keep this topic active. More people will get involved.
- If you believe in this coin or just want to make a quick flip, support it by wearing a signature/avatar/title which promotes either the site, or this topic
- Use 1 application/website to gather interested parties. Don't divide. Unite.
- Productive minds think alike. Make a "round table" chatroom only with people who contribute in any way. People who're factors in this project. The ones who do and the ones who say aren't sharing the same views. Detox.
This coin has a very big potential to run towards top 20 market cap position. Something that I hope rat4 / DrDolittle understands. There is a TON of us in QQ and Slack talking about Blackcoin and trying to get something started. Rat4 / DrDolittle, we really need you back and conversing with us at least in the IRC.

Blackhalo has a pretty foolproof way of storing a wallet. Excellent, I agree with pretty much everything you said there. A non standardised way of storing a key in a common data type, hidden in plain sight is the perfect strategy. Doesnt sound vulnerable to the most common forms of compromised data which is often about easily processing simple file types after compromising a system. Just sifting through most peoples photo albums would be such an epic task it'd be too much work for most to bother with an attack. Just a simple deterrent on that alone and I agree on gmail as 2fa and of course thats a well known standard already, great. The layering to access amounts is exactly how it should be yea, unfortunately technology can be a threat in its convenience and efficiency when turned against the user so thats totally how it should be. Any amount of power needs a good brake on it also. I would draw that BLK graph different, a trend line is most significant when it meets the most points in common over time. Could be we have broken a trend (negative) already hence a fairly strong rise. Also that price indicated there would be seem to be resistance matching some previous highs and lows but thats just visual as of course value varies with bitcoin and dollar itself not fixed.

Yes I agree. That second spike is way more relevant than the first one. That first spike is quite meaningless as that was when BLK was coming out of it's PoW phase. It was a hike that most alt coins took right after having been formed. BLK had no ICO, no pre-mine or instamine, and yet still that mining phase was a bit too short for my liking (maybe I'm just bitter because I never got to mine it at all, I didn't know BLK existed back then). Still, out of all the PoS coins, BLK enjoyed the fairest distribution of them all. BLK has been incredibly low for YEARS, not a fun place to be if you like the devs, like the technology while watching other coins steal BLK's thunder. However, that's also when traders who speculate on pure technology alone have a chance to catch up after that PoW phase. On top of that, PoS coins WILL behave differently when they grow big. If staking starts paying your bills it becomes less interesting to dump on new-comers. What you're selling is your dividend (which is essentially what it is) which is a very stable dispersion of coins to newcomers. PoS biggest strength is that it lacks all the miner shenanigans. Something many crypto-fans have been burned on. The point of entry to participate in the network is incredibly low. It may also be why BLK genuinely is averse to strong hype. A wide wallet distribution is more important to a PoS coin than to a PoW coin. BLKers want to see stable staking, their point of sale may very well be never. Just sifting through most peoples photo albums would be such an epic task it'd be too much work for most to bother with an attack. Yeah, back in 2014, the Cambrian explosion of alts, many people used to store their wallet in their email. There were people who were able to hack and have a script search for the .dat files that most wallets came in and simply 'harvest' them. You didn't need to know whether people held wallets in their email storage, just trawl through all the emails you have access to and sift for gold. You can't do that with jpg files because everyone has jpg files stored in their email. Especially if you don't know how many keys the Blackhalo wallet address is stored with. Doesn't have to be two, it can be more. You could even find them all and then realise that there's another key stored in a different account you aren't aware of. Blackhalo is a bitch to hack. And one of the wallets could even be sitting on someone's exposed drive, staking. Completely invulnerable because the keys could be manifold and anywhere.

Beautiful. That's the ease of access people need. Does it require payblk's service to keep working? Is there a way to retrieve a wallet outside the app?

I think it's opensource, so you can always run it yourself. Also, I'm not sure but you might be able to import the seed into multiBLK. EDIT, According to Janko33 the dev: payblk private keys can be imported to Qt client payblk is opensource but needs a server to be able to run.. this tool can compute private keys from your 12 words (edited) https://github.com/janko33bd/bip39/tree/blackcoin

Oh awesome. Thanks. That would at least give you a way back into the system if the app somehow stops doing it's thing.

It's just the rising alt tide. Bitcoin keeps fucking itself and people are hedging against it. Though $0.1337 is nice.

I was here back at the IPO also but there was tons of new coins and I didnt mine this particular one unfortunately not that I can remember anyway, I held some afterwards though. You can always sell and then rebuy even if its higher, I'm trying to change my mindset away from that all or nothing approach. So long as the prospects are good for a coin then you can profit from buying in the troughs and selling at peaks if you are that kind of person who wants to trade. Its the overall direction that matters, if its on a good trend up then just being involved with some holding is fine too imo. Nothing wrong with trading really, free markets have a place in providing free flow of currency and its a positive to have buyers with some optimism when it sells off etc. It seems to be the case that higher popularity with bitcoin benefits alt coins also as each offers various benefits

Just for clarification, there never was a Blackcoin IPO. IPO's in cryptocurrency are unregulated and very prone to fraud. Learned that the hard way.
There was a few months of PoW mining (which is probably what you are referring to) for a somewhat fair but mostly fast distribution of the coin before changing to PoS. Blackcoin has one of the cleanest starts out there. This matters because there are other PoS coins that have a far more problematic wallet distribution.
