if we notice, it is true that there is much event which is happening lately, such as the market continues to fall and stocks continue to decline. it is of course that situation makes many people feel disadvantaged .in fact, there are some people trapped in panic sale because they afraid to losing their chance in alternative coin like litecoin. but if they are be patient a little longer they would not miss this chance.  Embarrassed

People should just chill and hodl. Studies show that hodlers and day traders receive the same gains.

Total noob here.  Ive been studying cryptocurrency and blockchain technology for a couple weeks and I have a couple questions. I wont be starting out with a lot of money tied up in this.  I am only going to start with around $500.  Any suggestions as to dos and donts or any general advice would be nice.

Thanks,

The Noob
idk what risk level you like, BUT if it was me and I had 500 to start with..i would buy 2 LTC cause<3.... then gamble the rest on up comers like Tron and or Stellar/ Verge and try for big gains or losses. their all kinda crap coins but they blowing up today all 60 - 80% up today and they cheap so you can get a lot for 100.

or you could be smart and buy 2.5 LTC and watch it grow...but that's not as exciting as catching a pump..or as painful as getting the Dump. lol

Will Litecoin go down to $100???

No, I don´t think so. But if it does, I will buy more LTC.

Thats right. Because litecoin is actually the only big coin which you can use to transfer fast to another exchange and buy other altcoin with them. So its just a question of time when it will rise again!

No thats not really true. I exchanged some Bitcoins on Bitfinex to exchange them to LTC (about 1.15 LTC) and I couldn't even withdraw them to anywhere, because they only let you withdraw LTC worth of $250 which literally angers me. Exchanged it to some other alts and hoping it'll grow. But still believe in LTC, just the situation Bitfinex offers, isn't the best at all. So if you plan to buy LTC worth less than $250, just don't buy it on Bitfinex, since they also charge a "small" deposit fee of 0.0008 BTC.

I have a question. Bitmain just announced a new Litecoin miner, if you ask me it is the old one but with new name - A3. However this time they will ship it in 10 days, not months like before which means that the market will be flooded with machines. Wouldn't this influence the price of LTC, I think it will.

Yeah, you'd get about $505 a day with the new A3, but sadly it was already sold out after 2 minutes. But seems actually pretty fair with a price of 2375 US$. You'd have paid it in 2 weeks or even less depending on your electricity bill. If you want you can add https://shop.bitmain.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020180116164357365a2ljX8gx06D3 to your favorites and check whenever they're in stock again.

Wow, is a really good bargain at $2300, that's for sure, nomather it was sold out so quickly! You pay about 12 LTC and double your investment in less than a month!

The idea of litecoin was originally perfect-to create a coin 4x faster (time block 2.5 minutes vs 10 minutes for bitcoin)! Plus cheap transaction (much cheaper than bitcoin). Charlie Lee does good, thanks to him, new updates litecoin takes much faster than bitcoin, cause they doesn’t have such leader like Charlie Lee! The question is how they can support their ideas on software level, but for now it's digital silver! Wink

lol, he is to bussy twiting, but price of LTC is undervalued, and also LTC/btc shows great bull is coming back, i sold some NEO when they were only 400 Mio apart, and holding both, lets see, aperantly neo wont just outperform the LTC YET, but if the LTC foundation and charlle doesnt do something new etc it will easly surpase the light and aim to shot over the "roger Van" BTCH and Cardano in reasonable time, i give him 6 month.... aperantly the riple is back and will not move from the third place, but the second he just doesnt deserve. Both are undervalued Lite and neo, light might do more short term.

Correct. Here in US they have been braking record highs all throughout last year and now this year.

Also, the studied that I have seen holders make out a little better than day traders without all the stress. I've day traded and damn it could be really stressful. Did my #'s and holding I would have made much more as apposed to day trading so I barely day trade anymore and just continue to fill my bags.  Smiley  To each his own.

Yes, I can recommend you zpool cause there you can mine other altcoins and get it exchanged to LTC which is way more profitable at the moment than just mining LTC. You could use the Zpool GUI miner, which mines the most profitable coin for you at the moment.

Right now it is consolidating in the current upper range. Bullish? We shall see. Don't read idiots who predict 40 point drops or rises. They are likely part of these fruitless pump and dump groups. Ask them for charts and they don't respond. The market is skittish right now swinging 10 dollars up and down. The bias is if the go signal is given it will explode. I would suggest to hold your ground and if it drops a bit don't worry or add to your position. The drop can only go to 192 points to 0. The up can go to 1000ish and everything in between. Personally I am happy with everything now chart wise. I completely ignore assinine fud posts even ones claiming or looking legitimate. Fun and games.

How is that unprofitable to you? Did you try it? I was mining LTC on LTC pool for a week and I got less LTC compared to an exchange pool, where it mines the most profitable coin at the moment and exchanges it. Can you please tell me why your opinion is like that?
