So...I just searched the population report on PSA, specifically regarding the Ginter X black mini cards, and the results are interesting.

According to the current pop report, a total of 16 non-cryptocurrency black mini cards have been graded. Of those 16 black mini cards, 11 received the high grade of PSA10. That's a whopping 68.75% of the total population of all non-#83 black mini cards! By that average, at least 6 (or 6.1875, to be accurate) of the registered 9 cryptocurrency cards in the pop report should have received the same high grade of PSA10. Strangely, there is not a single PSA10 cryptocurrency card. WTF?!?

Why are all the other black mini cards receiving the highest grades, but not the cryptocurrency card?

I recall reading in a baseball forum that some collectors suggest that the grading companies know which cards are the most desired/expensive, and they grade those cards a lot stricter than any other cards in an effort to keep the 10-grade population low (which helps to control/regulate the collectibles market).

I don't know if that theory is true, but I do find it quite disturbing that of those 9 graded cryptocurrency cards, an average of 6 should have received a high grade of PSA10, but not a single card received that grade. Again...WTF?!?

Confused,
Me

Yes. the mini ginter x black ones should 4 10s at least.  i sent in 22 of the BIG ginter x and got 6 10s!  Something is not right.

I would like to see what a Mini X would come back graded from beckett. The one I sent to PSA looked perfect to me and came back a 9.

Becketts will cost you more, and I can't remember if putting corner grades, centering, and the like, is always on the fronts of the cards, or if you pay for that privilege...collectors like it, and swarm to get the cream of the crop... I sincerely do not think that you'll do better. Unfortunately.

*Some research on Becketts pricing tiers could give a definitive answer, of course. I simply do not remember all the Becketts info.

The high grades that are achieved on older desired cards always bring a high premium since there was virtually no quality control .  For our newer crypto cards a grade of 10 is almost a must on the common cards and on the rarer ginter x mini's a high premium would be expected especially on the mini black.  There will be a few that grade at 10 but, I think they will go in the 3k to 4k range or higher.  I currently think the red mini is in the 4k to 6k range and a grade 10 will probably move it into the 12k to 14k range and the silver will be held so I doubt we will see a price on it.

I read on the baseball card forums that the average new, pack-pulled card is about an 8.5 grade. The 9 grade is a small (arbitrary) bump from the average new card, but the 10 grade is better than the average new card, which is why it's so coveted.

Most serious baseball card collectors seem to feel like PSA9 is an excellent grade, and many collectors say that PSA7-8 grades are so close to the PSA10 grades (difficult to tell any differences with the naked eye) that all they collect are PSA7-9 grade cards. (And that saves them money to buy more cards!)

Personally, I'll chase the PSA10 grades, but I'm thrilled to own a PSA8-9 grade too. Smiley

Regards,
Chris

If anyone that has gone back through their sportscards while looking at their crypto cards I am a definate buyer for a Kings of the city Michael Jordan/Gale Sayers KC06.  Here was the rare print run.  Total of 15 produced plus 4 printing plates.  Will post a photo later

My opinion only is that this is the Michael Jordan of non sportscards and like all cards the more rare and higher the grade the higher the value.  Looking forward to 2019 releases Shocked

Those ginter x boxes that initially sold for $70 now have asking of up to $700.  Even if they get half that, it is a nice ROI.

I think i'll get a few boxes each year. they are fun to open!  Does anyone know the strategy to get one?  i think i remember seeing card sites like Blowout Cards offering pre-sales.  Maybe they have an inside contact on knowing exact moment they go for sale.

It's the card dealers that get the heads up, they pay for the privilege via memberships. So if you talk to your local card dealer, tell him to let you know the minute he finds out, then tell him how many box's or cases to get for you. That way you don't have to worry about missing out, in case you missed being notified for any reason.  Wink
