Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Thanks dolphriends! Very helpful going forward.  Wink

Here is a helpful list of the 20 variations of the #83 cryptocurrency and how many were made of certain cards.  Hopefully this will be helpful to some of you

Not sure if anyone is aware but, the base mini's are nearly gone.  There are no longer any of the rare mini's on ebay.  Will probably need to open packs to possibly find one, good luck to all Shocked

Usually a card won't take off like that as a rookie card until they have a great career and then everyone tries to go back and get the card.  In this case a rookie card was made long after cryptocurrency began so there is 10 years of waiting for this and now it's here.  12K might look like a bargain, I'm waiting for the next issue of Beckett to come out.  The supply and demand factor is currently kicking in.  If you think 12k is a lot, wait until you see the price on my 1/1 printing plate  LOL

My sense of value was exceeded when a gold border went for $200 ( I was the unlucky buyer.  Win some lose some), so this is uncharted territory.

Geez. I passed on a glow in the dark after seeing price fall on gold border.  Hindsight is 20/20.

My opinion based on my experiences the real surge on these rookie cards takes place when the next series of cryptocurrency cards is released.  I would pay 2500.00 in a second for a red mini, even a black mini is 250.00 and climbing, if you can find one.  I have three up for auction here and am shocked the price isn't at .1 already

If there is no next series, then these cards will still be a nice novelty collectible with a steadily increasing worth, IMHO. However, if there is a next series, then I believe dolphriends is right and these first series cards will be surge in price next summer. (I'm banking on it.)

Chris

If you can't go on ebay and find just the base mini A&G back, the rate of buying these is through the roof.  There should be a ton of the base mini's.  I was shocked Shocked

I got a feeling even the $5-$10 base cards will be in the 100's in the near future.

Baseball card collectors don't understand the crazy amounts of 'money' a lot of Bitcoin advocates have; along side the HODL mentality these cards seem like an easy call. Mine are all going straight to Beckett for grading and into the safety deposit box.

That's basically all that is left, the mini black card was estimated at 100 were made but, I think it might be even less..  The regular a&g mini's no longer can be found, just the regular back.

OK, so is it ~100, or is it ~50? I've seen both numbers posted on this thread.

Chris

That is such a tough call, unless the cards are actually hand or stamped numbered.  The glow in the dark is another one I am not sure of.  If you go to beckett checklist that I posted, it shows there is just 1 of the black mini.  We know there are more than that but, not much that I have seen.  Sorry I can't be more helpful
