I’m not sure I understand what you imply because a lot of coins brought a lot of profit in 2018
In 2018 we witnessed over 2000% increase in price
Elf soared to above 3$ twice and even further growth

Artificial intelligence also paved way
Let’s just assume you bought the wrong project or expected too much profit

but you need to be very careful which projects are you going to invest with.do your own due diligence and assess if a particular project is heading to failure or success. there are many indicators or signals that you can look for. youll never know when will they be in the market or better yet, if they will ever get to the market. so one thing i can say, invest what you can afford to lose as everybody says.

I would say that 2018 is a year of waiting. I have been waiting more than 9 month for good entry point and I am still not ready to invest any substantial amount.

Even with the bear market there were many opportunities to make money in the market, it worries me that you say that you did not saw any entry point when there have been several in the market if you watch many coins, it is important that you refine your strategy and look for more markets to trade because it seems that you are missing many opportunities.

We all make mistakes but that is part of investing, there is no denying this year will be the year in which the great profits will be made but only if you are thinking long term and you are willing to get those profits during the next years, this is similar to what happened after the crash caused by mt gox in which everyone thought the market was dead only to discover years later how wrong they were.

Except for daily trader, i agree that 2018 wasn't a good year for making big profit even though there are some coins that roses quite high (BOB and XYO for examples). Since Q4 2018, I have gradually bought more some coins that i considered have big potential to be growth in the future using my 2nd phase of capital.

This is a very bad year for all cryptocurrency investor's. Since beginning of this year day by day market going to the down. Now we can't predict when market will be up. So hold is bad things now. But not anythings now do.

HODLING is still the best option now. There is no market without challenging of up and down. The market down now does not mean it will not rise again. It will regain its bull run very soon. Patience is key.

I use to think that too "HODLing" as the best option, well in some cases or project yes but you really can accumulate even in the bear market which I have done with one particular new project since 2018 which I also believe can be done with every other projects but with different risk factors. I believe trading general is about risk taking and once you learn the ropes and manage your risk, you can accumulate as much and when the market returns to normal, you will rip the gains.
