While Mzansi Super League is still in progress (Today Bay Giants will take on Tshwane Spartans), we have another T10 league starting from 15 in Abu Dhabi. We will daily have 3 matches in  T10 league for the next 10 days. We have too much cricket to follow for the next few days. It will be exciting to watch all these matches.

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

There is too much cricket leagues around the globe and it is really difficult to follow all the matches, i came to know about teh Mzansi super league from you but i am yet to watch a live event and i have to find  an online source to watch the match, i might be watching the T10 league as it is a new format and i would like to see how the match will unfold as everyone tries to smash the ball from the start.

I am watching the Mzansi Super League live on SONY SIX HD in India. I guess there will be more viewers in India for this league, than in South Africa. One thing that I don't like about this league is that there is a quota for the black African players in the playing XI. The rules suggest that at least two black African players should be there in the final eleven. So it is franchise cricket, mixed with politics.

If you remember I used to ask this question often here where to watch the matches lives on the internet. I searched a lot and finally come to know about the facebook group "Sports corner". Here you can watch all the leagues and all the cricket matches live no matter in which part of the world you live.
You can watch Mzansi Super league too here.

So whats wrong is they want to include minimum of 2 black players in each team. In IPL, only 4 foreign players are allowed and rest of the team should be from the Indian nationality. So hows that not being political ?

Because that is equivalent to saying that the other South Africans (Whites, Asians, Coloreds and the original inhabitants - the San) are not equal to the black payers. In IPL, 7 out of the 11 players should be Indians. But there is no requirement that these 7 players should be from a particular religion or a particular racial group. You can have a quota based on nationality. But it is wrong to have one based on race or religion.

I wonder what will be the situation if NBA will be following these quota system, as they need to have Asian and Whites rather than a full black team i wonder what the situation will be  Cheesy. The quota system sucks in sports and it must be according to the skill level, if the board wanted to involve more local players they can come up with a rule to promote young players but to include mandatory according to the race is not that great.

There is a lot of discrimination of black n white people in south Africa, and it is in their law to give certain percentage of seats for the native black people in all fields including cricket. This is different from India or Pakistan where mostly people are treated equally regardless of race/religion.

I believe its cannot happen in NBA as its one of best brands in world and they never need quota like this they have one of best system in the world which helping players those are capable to join they can play for NBA without any color or region this is happening in very few countries those have not good and strong domestic system and want to bring local players which is not helping even creating problems.

I am not aware of the level of these discrimination in that part of the world but if there is a quota system irrespective of talent then i find that discrimination and if they are supporting that in the education system then i can understand because they wanted to promote even the backward class but in sports it should be avoided as 7788bitcoin pointed out you cannot have a quota system in NBA or marathon and if you have the skill irrespective of color you will be included.

Past discrimination can't be used to justify current discrimination. BTW, what justification do they have for the discrimination against the San, Asians, Cape Malays and the mixed race people? All of them also suffered from discrimination by the apartheid government, and now they are facing same discrimination from the black government as well.

I hope they are doing it to uplift the backward and give them opportunities and by doing so they are indeed discriminating if they are not taking talent into consideration, i know the situation with Zimbabwe and why the ICC revoked their status and if there is too much political intervention in sport it is not good for the morality of the game.

I have created  Abu Dhabi T10 League 2019 thread where we can discuss exclusively about this unique T10 tournament. If this format gets popular, we might see more of 10 overs international matches also.

What happened in Zimbabwe was different. The cricket board executives were appointed by the government and these guys stole most of the funds they got from the ICC. The global body tolerated it for sometime, but when the situation got out of hand, they had to act and suspend the membership of Zimbabwe Cricket. So far, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has stayed clear of corruption allegations.

The quota system sucks in sports and it must be according to the skill level, if the board wanted to involve more local players they can come up with a rule to promote young players but to include mandatory according to the race is not that great.

There are provinces in South Africa where blacks are a minority (i.e less than 50% of the population, such as Western Cape and Northern Cape). On top of that, cricket is not very popular among the black Africans, who are more interested in sports such as football and boxing. So the player pool is going to be very small. But still for domestic competitions a certain number of players needs to be black African. This has resulted in many ridiculous circumstances in South African domestic cricket when the teams have fielded players who can neither bowl, nor bat.

The quota system has resulted in many good players migrating to other countries. England is currently home to more than 50 Kolpak players, who have migrated to that country from South Africa (including some very promising players such as Hardus Viljoen and Simon Harmer. The full list can be found here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Kolpak_cricketers

Even domestic teams in countries such as Australia and New Zealand have a lot of South African players, who have moved to these countries to escape the quota system. And we have seen how the quality of the South African team has gone down over the years... this is the number one reason.

Anyone watching the match between Afghanistan and West Indies? Things not looking very rosy for Afghanistan. First of all, they conceded 164 runs in 20 overs, and then they lost the wickets of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran with just 7 runs on board. Now as usual Asghar Stanikzai is building the innings, with some help from Hazratullah Zazai. But the required run rate is climbing up.

The required run rate is climbing but Afghanistan have the batting power to win the match but they lost their 4th wicket, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan and Gulbadin Naib can change the match at any time but Cottrell and Pollard is bowling well for West Indies and if they start loosing wickets then it is game over for Afghanistan.

11.43 runs needed per over and Asghar Afghan got out (doubtful catch) just now. He was the only player who was capable of guiding Afghanistan to a win, and now their chances are close to zero. Mohammad Nabi is batting along with Najibullah Zadran, but both of them are not well known for hard hitting. West Indies is going to win this match. Best of luck to Afghanistan for the next match.

Have not watched the match and only few overs left. I do not think there are much left for Afghanistan here.

Afghanistan require another 54 runs with 1 wicket and 15 balls remaining
They are going to lose and this was very expected. WI may seems a broken team but they are not that much broken yet. A series between WI and Sri Lanka would be nice in this stage :-D
