2 and a half hours are already gone. The pitch is still not ready yet. Now, I am doubting if we'll have a play today and I'm waiting for the official announcement  

I am doubtful whether we will see a match today, it is already late and even if they start the match it will be a T10 or to the max 15 over per side as per the news as there is not much time left and i do not see the match taking place as there is no official announcement yet and i am expecting a decision on the match within ten minutes.

All the matches have cut off time and the match should start within this time. The cutoff time is already over 5 mins ago and now we will soon hear the Match abandon announcement soon. It will be disappointment for both teams and the crowd who were hoping for an Indian Win.

India won the toss and decided to bowl first, good decisions by the captain considering the dew condition and previous batting performance. They are playing with six seemers. This is going to be an interesting match.

The match is delayed by the rain. So there will be no dew factor and the team batting second may have to face a stiffer target in case the overs are reduced.  The outfield will be wet and it will be difficult the bowlers to grip the ball. All these will favor Srilanka at the start of the match.

The pitch has got wet now let's see what happens. This happened while removing the covers, very bad stadium staff. Super sucker can remove it. But, it will play a spoil sports. The match has got further delayed now. The overs will now be reduced.

The more overs are reduced in a T20 match, there is more chances of an upset. No team will remain favorite one and Srilanka could do an upset against India today. But for this, we do not want another delay from rain and I hope the match will resume after the next inspection which is about an hours time from now.

If what you are saying is true, then it will be interesting to watch the current odds of the match.
At the toss and before the rain, the odds were clearing favoring the Indians. Would like to know if things have changed because of the rain  

I do not think this match will happen. Water on the pitch is a big issue, if the match happens the the losing team will blame it on the pitch. I am sure BCCI will try to forfeit this match.

The match is finally called off and the rain spoiled the match just after the toss i guess looking at the team composition because Sanju Samson is still not playing  . They need to stop picking players that they have no plans to play even in a single match as it will affect their momentum too, he is playing well in the domestic circuit and let him play in those rather than warming the bench all the time.

LOL.. what do you expect after scheduling the match at Guwahati, which happens to be one of the wettest places in India. It was known that rains do occur at this time in Northeast India. And at the same time, I am quite surprised that despite being the richest sports body in the world, the BCCI don't have any plans to construct a stadium with retractable roof. They have millions of USD for wasteful administrative expenses but they are always miserly when it comes to the construction of infrastructural facilities.

There is a very huge expectation on this match, but at last, the match has been abandoned due to rain. Arjun Nair of Sydney Thunder got hit for five sixes in a row, during the BBL match against Brisbane Heat (Tom Banton was the batsman). And not surprisingly, Thunder lost the rain-effected match by 16 runs (D/L method). Tom Banton hit the fastest 50 ever in BBL and this match may witness the end of the cricketing career for off-spinner Arjun Nair.

Indore weather is OK, but isolated rains are predicted across North India on 7th and 8th January. The 3rd ODI is to be played at Pune, and as of now the weather predictions point to very little rain in Indore/Pune. That said, I was watching the coverage from the first T20 match. The facilities they have at Guwahati looked like from stone age. Sadly, the richest sporting body can't afford a few super-soakers.

Thanks for the weather update and i will wait for the match to start before placing a bet this time around as i do not want to wage a bet on a match that is reduced and i am expecting India to dominate the tournament as they rested some players but they have the team to beat a team like Sri Lanka and their trump card is still Malinga and if he performs then he can defeat any team.

The fact is that the BCCI is taking care of these stadium duties, the local board in a state will pitch for the match to be conducted and if the BCCI thinks that it maintains a minimum standard then the match is allocated and that is what i understand and the preparation should be done by the local authority and BCCI does not gets involved in those and they share the ticket revenue on a percentage basis and the main revenue always goes to the BCCI in the form of television rights and that is how things work.

BCCI can't put the entire blame on the Assam Cricket Association (ACA). The TV broadcasters had spent a fortune for the rights and with every match that is abandoned, they will face tens of millions of USD in losses. I agree that it is the local board (ACA in this case) which has the responsibility to prepare the stadium. But even then, the BCCI has a supervisory role.
