Lockdown is going on in India now. But the rural people of India do not follow the lockdown rules. So even after the government gave the lockdown, the virus infection is not decreasing. If BCCI had been more aware of the corona virus, this season's IPL might not have stopped. At the moment, there is no possibility of starting the IPL before the virus infection subsides.

Here the second wave seems to have plateaued. The number of infections per day are now in the 250K range, down from the 400-450K figures which we were having a few days back. But that doesn't mean that it is safe to conduct major tournaments such as the IPL and the T20 World Cup. Not just the rural population, but also a large part of the urban population has scant regard for law and they don't follow lockdown guidelines. For the remainder of the year, the situation is likely to remain worse.

It is just not COVID19 that is creating havoc but also black fungus. Almost all states have declared it as a epidemic and the situation is getting worsen day by day. I do not think that the lockdown will open soon in India. T20 World Cup will be rescheduled to a different destination if things go out of control in coming days because of the black fungus.

India is not a very rich country. There are a lot of poor people in India. It is not possible for them to be in lockdown too. From this, the Government of India can give importance to the observance of hygiene rules. If all people use masks and ignore public gatherings, the infection will be greatly reduced. The Government of India should now make all people more aware of hygiene. And to ensure that all people follow the rules of hygiene. Otherwise, the infection will not decrease.

RCB seems to be in amazing form this season which is why them not reaching the finals would surprise me. They are consistently performing well in all departments and expecting them to continue this form if the tournament resumes.

Makes sense. For some weird reason, the cameramen focus on people praying for MI to win in a critical match and everything works out for them.

I feel they are weird coincidences. MI deserved to win the cup on all 5 occasions. However, I don't think they will reach the playoffs this time though due to their inconsistency.

We don't know whether all of the foreign players will be available once the IPL resumes. Many of the important players have already made it quite clear that they will not be taking part in the resumed tournament. And this can have a major impact on some of the teams such as RCB, SRH and CSK which are overdependent on the overseas contingent. The latest news from IPL is that it will resume by September this year.. and that is even more interesting because some of the other teams are having fixtures during that time. So even if the overseas players are willing to take part, they need to chose between IPL and national duty.

Those are rumours, but the league is initially created as a platform of promotion and not to provide opportunity for the young talents. With this there is possible chances of some form of scripting on matches. I don't state every match to be scripted.

Schedule should not be a concern. Because the plans are there to resume the Indian Premier League immediately after the 5th test match against India (currently scheduled for 10-14 September, almost certain to be postponed). And then the T20 World Cup starts almost immediately after the resumed tournament. ECB want the players to attend training camps before the World Cup, and that is the reason why they won't be participating in the IPL.

And the proposal to host IPL in England was not from the ECB. It was made by some of the counties and the ECB has reacted rather negatively.

I still doubt matches or a match can be scripted. This not WWE where everything is scripted. I have heard  and seen spot fixing or match fixing but never heard about scripting. I do not think it is possible in any sporting events.

Two important news coming in from the T20 sphere. First, in the news related to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) a mini draft has been completed to replace the unavailable players. Shimron Hetmyer has been signed by Multan and Zahir Khan by Quetta. Rashid Khan will be available for the Lahore Qalandars. Singapore batsmen Tim David will also be playing for Lahore.

Meanwhile, the CPL franchises have also completed their transfers and retentions. Andre Russell is retained by Jamaica, despite his comments against the franchise. Dwayne Bravo and Sherfane Rutherford will be playing for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.

I would say that the Lahore Qalandars remain as the favorites. Rashid Khan has come back to the squad, in the place of Bangladeshi player Shakib al Hasan (earlier Shakib had replaced Rashid). The other two overseas players are unchanged (David Wiese and Travis Head). Right now it looks like LQ have the best team balance among the six franchises. Interestingly, a few UAE players have been included in the squads. Waseem Muhammad will be playing for Multan, and Sultan Ahmed will represent LQ. Since the tournament will be held in Abu Dhabi, these players will be very useful.

The BCB focuses more on the Dhaka based clubs, rather than investing their money in the outer regions. A complete revamp is needed for the domestic 4-day competition (National Cricket League). One solution would be to increase the number of tours by the Bangladesh A team. But the cricket board has once again failed in this regard.
