Bangladesh vs New Zealand series is starting tomorrow. Anyone considering betting on this match? Stake.com is offering 1.67 for BD and 2.12 for NZ, considering NZ as underdog. NZ has sent a B category team possibly. I haven’t looked at the squad depth yet but that's what I have read few days ago if I can remember correctly.
2.12 for NZ seems quite high but BD recent form against Australia is somewhat to take into consideration before concluding anything. Anyway, though I'm a supporter of Bangladesh, I will possibly bet for NZ tomorrow. What do you think? NZ will get a chance or BD will continue the same form they had against Aus?

Well, NZ bowling squad has some good and senior players but from others, only Guptil seems known to me. Maybe I have missed the new players. So, yeah, Bangladesh is quite favorite provided they had a good series against Aussies.

The Australian government has got very strict with the quarantine requirements, as the delta variant is spreading throughout the country. Even aboriginal communities in the remote outback have reported infections. Now they are reporting more than 1,000 cases per day (for much of 2021, the daily number of new cases was in single digits). Same is the situation in New Zealand, but they are not as worse as Australia. Still, it is a big blow for the overhyped "New Zealand model" under Jacinda Ardern. Despite being the most remote country in the world, they are unable to spread the COVID 19 spread there.

I think you'll find some of the South Pacific countries are much more remote than either Australia or New Zealand (and Brisbane is in Australia)  Same with protectorates such as the Falkland Islands / Easter Island / Pitcairn Island etc.

Some of your other information is almost correct - for example we've had double and triple digit infections prior to the most recent lock-downs in Greater Sydney/Greater Melbourne.

The base price for the two new teams in IPL is just crazy. I still remember when Rajasthan Royals won the bid with $67 million in 2008. The current base price represents almost 6 times increase since then. Still I believe that the expansion was long due. I would like to have IPL with 10 teams, and then each of these teams having a second division league on their own, with 10 teams each. For example, the Chennai Superkings could set up a mini-league on their own with 10 teams from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. None of those senior players (mentioned by you) are included In the squad. Personally I don't have much idea about their current squad but I will prefer to place my bet on team Bangladesh.

Comparing the squads of Bangladesh and New Zealand, Bangladesh team can be considered as stronger. Bangladesh team has some experienced batsmen, they always help the team to win. Moreover, the young players of Bangladesh are now performing very well. Although New Zealand has sent a second tier team, if Bangladesh thinks this team is weak then they will make a big mistake. In my opinion, Bangladesh made the most of their home advantages and that may continue even against New Zealand. In India, the laws are vague and self-contradictory. Gambling is banned officially, but the state governments are still allowed to sell lotteries. And casinos are allowed to operate in Goa, as long as they are positioned offshore. Illegal gambling dens are very common in every nook and corner of India, and the ban on gambling has only made the issue worse. And for the rich Indians and Pakistanis, there is always the option of catching a flight and landing in Macau, so that they could visit the best casinos in the world.

In fact, Bangladesh performed much better than before. There are a few good bowlers in the country who can easily corner a team. Such as Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman .

Of course you are right that only a few members of the New Zealand main team are in the team, all the rest are new faces. However, this is everyone's expectation that New Zealand will play well.

The national boards have almost completely stopped international tours by 'A 'teams and the U-19 teams. As a result, apart from the main 4-5 batsmen, the others don't have sufficient experience of playing in hostile conditions. On top of that, the Bangladeshi spinners have been in terrific form recently. New Zealand board should have at least played a couple of warm-up matches before the outings against the national team. They could have at least got used to the conditions and avoided this humiliation.

@bryant.coleman the possible theory is that they didn’t consider Bangladesh strong enough, and that’s why in their overconfidence they decided to not have any practice matches. Also this failure will serve them well, as it’ll help them understand where they need to be better and hopefully they’ll perform better in their upcoming matches.
