3060
mining on nicehash:
eth is paying about $2.70 right now at 26.
Octopus is about $3.40 at 125 watts, reported by NBminer
Kapow is about $2.84
at $3.40 a day ROI is about 121 days/4 months. not counting taxes and electricity
edit: these returns are with 10 min or less of mining. I will run each for an hour and take note.
So... hopefully someone breaks Nvidia's algorithm.

Nice thanks for the info. I was not selected for the Newegg shuffle either. I had high hopes of getting one of these cards but I guess it wasn't meant to be. 121 days to break even is great in my book.

What's the smallest computer you can get a GPU to mine with? Looking to build small spaceheaters, GPU+PSU+mini board with WIFI would seems a fun idea
Well do you want open board models? any itx mobo from intel will work. in a case let me look for an old photo found that mofo! a 1 card 1080ti I cut a hole in the front for air flow. Cooler master liked this so much they made this newer high air flow case. https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/cases/mini-itx/elite130/which is a riff on my mod. I told them they should feel free to improve my improvement and that is what they did these are good space heaters if you must have a case. Personally this video has a great space heater. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiWpnn5vjrcit is pretty small and quiet but no kids pets or drunks allowed as it is open frame. Open board. My dream board would be like rasperpi size with one PCI-E and Wifi. Looked at some pico-itx from Via, seems a nice solution. Would have so search for good compact power bricks too. What else could you recomend?

Nicehhash reports it will average $3.83 per 24 hour period (even with these dropping prices), which equates to a 107 day ROI. By comparison an RX 470 next to the 3060, running TeamRedMiner on Eth at 29 mh in NIcehash for 10 hours has a predicted $2.80 per 24 hour return.

Octopus to Eth is apples to Oranges.. I know you are comparing $3.83 to $2.80 and while the 3060 cost more than the 470 It will have far great resale. It does not crowd Eth with more hash. So it is helping octopus algo grow. We need that big time. I got the one coining on Tues and am hoping for more.

I agree, I'm only looking at the dollar return and who knows which algo will be higher tomorrow.
It was mining ETH at 26mH stable, so about 10% less than the 470, which means about a 165 day ROI at today's mining price, (which is a lot less than 2 days ago).
It is a tiny little card, just one 8 pin power connector, currently mining Octo at 125 watts as reported by NBMiner
My cost was $412 from Amazon including tax, I would buy more if I could get them.
The 470 was $295 in 2017 and they are still running

I can get a 12 slot riser less mobo and run 10 of these cards on it doing octopus. 10 cards at 400 = 4000 a piece of wood and screws for the mobo 10 bucks the mobo 200 the ram 10 a good server psu 100 I would be at 4330 and making 38 a day even with my power this would be 1400 watts 34 K-watts or 6 a day so 38-6 = 32 a day that is 150 days to have 4800 and rig paid off. but they won't be easy to get they are 900-1000 each on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/EVGA-GeForce-RTX-3060-XC-GAMING-12GB-GDDR6-Dual-Fan/174654442224?https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313&_nkw=274697421234&_sacat=0Does anyone want msi/corsair 1080ti hybrid cards https://www.msi.com/Graphics-Card/geforce-gtx-1080-ti-sea-hawk.htmlI have 4 of them my partner wants to sell them off.

If I am following the discussion on the 3060 Nerfing correctly, these recent posts appear to be confirming that the 3060's are indeed being throttled back when mining ETH. I haven't been able to find anything definitive about whether or not other cards currently in play will be updated to add the mining nerf. I currently only have 1660 and 1660ti, are they in danger of being nerfed and is there anything I can do to prevent that? I don't know if they do any type of auto-updates to the firmware that I can disable? If a guy is lucky enough to score a 3070, 3080 or other such Nvidia board in a store or on the newegg shuffle, is it expected that those will be nerfed as well?

Brand new 3060 = slowed for eth but pretty good for octopus. your 1660 ti should not be altered lowered for eth. I have tested them on octopus they would do 4 -5 bucks IIRC but I would not worry about your older cards. You are using smos so he won't alter the drivers to hurt you.

Phil can you elaborate on what Octopus is? Is it a different mining protocol, or a different crypto altogether?
Do we know if any newly manufactured cards outside of the 3060s will be throttled? I don't know if new 1660 ti's are still being manufactured, for example, but if they are, are we thinking they will be throttled then?

you are smos to nicehash you use phoenix 5.4 to mine eth and nice hash converts to btc. you would use smos to nice hash (a different mining program on smos I think nbminer) to mine whatever the coin is octopus whatever and nice hash converts to btc. I know your current cards will have zero issues (98% sure) I know nothing about cards down the road. other than the 3060 which will be better at octopus. what does it all mean that little rig I sold you will be fine. new 3060's for octopus new 3060ti >> for a month no worries. new 3070 >> for a month no worries new 3080 >> for a month no worries new 3090 >> for a month no worries after that newer cards may be crippled we do not know. I high doubt they can go after old cards in the field. And this could be a huge fuck up for nvidia as amd may turn out to make hay on this. So do not back order months in advance is the safest thing I can say. these cards in this offer will work. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5320394.msg56447050#msg56447050

So I am liquidating most of my old computer equipment. Most of my GPUs are sold. So decided to sell my PSUs however to my surprise they aren't good sellers. Turns out there is no shortage of PSUs, you can buy them everywhere pretty much.
So decided to sell some motherboards however looking online seems they are in stock either. However I decided to try and sell them anyways. And to my surprise they are flying off the shelves. And I am not talking about high end gaming motherboards. I am talking about 10 year old AM3 and Socket 1155 motherboards.
People are buying them like crazy. And whats crazy is they are buying them with the cheap Sempron and Celeron processors. Why?
Well it turns out that motherboards aren't in low supply, but the CPUs for the newer motherboards are sold out. So why buy a motherboard that you can't use because you can't get a CPU for it.
So if you guys got any old motherboards laying around, even a decade old, throw them on Craiglist or FB marketplace and you will get top dollar for them.

This is the best moment to sell hardware, compared to 2017 this is bigger than before I bought a 3080 MSI but with 3 power connectors and huge card, I decided to sell, I paid 1150 USD, and sold in a few hours for 1750 USD, 600 USD just for a card, no need to mine, configure or wait Yesterday I put a 5700xt to sell and they offered me 925 USD, so I decided to sell, it's months of profits. I'm thinking of selling 50% of my cards, be in a good profit and continue to mining with 1 or 2 small rigs. I think we are in the peak of hardware prices, don't know yet about cryptos prices

I did do a listing here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5320394.0if I was to get 2100 it would be about 140-160 days of what these would earn.

Supply is gonna dry up some next month but in order for it to go much higher I think we need those $1,400 stimulus checks to come. Last week I sold the 2 $599.99 Asrock 5700xt's that I got from Newegg off a link in this thread for $900 each. I likely could have got more $ as others were asking over $1,000. I wanted a quick sale and that covers this month's electric bill. I didn't think it would sell quickly but I got $1175 for a Gigabyte Aorus Master 3070 in less than 1.5 hours. Over $1k for a MSI 3060 TI sold in less than 30 minutes and the buyer thanked me for a reasonable price. Crazy but he was right. Others are listing at $1,300 Last week was the first week I wasn't able to score a 3000 series card. I scored 5 1660 supers which I plan on selling. In some of the discords I am in the bot's that are actually working to get cards are now selling for $3,000 for a single key. The market is saturated and it's tough to get a manual order in right now even on Best Buy drops or last gen cards. You need to be good with setting up and managing a bot to even score cards now. I ordered a 1000 w Seasonic PSU which will replace a 750W corsair and allow me to add 1-2 more cards to my 6 gpu open air rig. One thing that is different on this last drop of BTC is that we did not see a jump in ETH to BTC ratio like we did last BTC drop. Don't know what that means going forward but people taking BTC profits didn't rotate it into ETH this time around. A jump to .04 btc for eth would keep hardware high.

Do you guys sell these GPUs at these high mark ups in person or online? I don’t think I would be able to sell them in person at a high mark up. Online it’s different. But when you are doing the transaction in person I couldn’t look the other person in the eye while charging him 50-100% mark up.
I would feel ashamed for taking advantage. And if I was a buyer paying a high mark up I also wouldn’t have a pleasant look on my face knowing that I am paying a huge premium to this individual who was lucky enough to find some in stock.
