LOL, this bullrun looks pathetic for GPU miners haha

last cycle: we bought the biggest and baddest GPU (1080ti), and then we scratch the buying/building itch by buying one after the other.

this cycle: shuffle on mid range GPU?  Grin

Actually this is better.  So far it appears to have way more staying power this way.

I rather a forced slow gear acquirability for miners than too much too soon.

I think the gpu shortage and chip shortage it preventing the diff from growing to 650th

Last I looked we were at 437th on Sun the 7th of march 2021

On June 8 2020 we were at 185th
from below
https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrate

so 437/185 = a factor of 2.362

prices from below

https://etherscan.io/chart/etherprice

march 10 2021 =  1795
June 8.     2020 =   244. a factor of 7.356

gas from this chart

https://etherscan.io/chart/gasprice

41 gwei June 8 2020

134 gwei March 10 2021.  a factor of 3.268

so 3.268 x 7.356 = 24.03/ 2.362 = 10.177 x  better to mine now. Than June of 2020

Cards accordingly became more valuable.

I listed this sale in marketplace to illustrate either poor forward thinking or good forward thinking by Bitcointalk miners.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5320394.0

I am basically offering a free 1080ti along with an expensive 3080 no takers so far.  The deal would be 2100 to 2200 hundred vs 2900-3100 on ebay.

I listed this offer and no one took it.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5308136.0

The 5700 xt xfx is now pretty much a winner. Since it has mined for 60 days  making 4.50 profit each day or 270 back.  So people were not confidant in buying it at 600 vs 900 on ebay.

So a poor decision by the market on the xfx 5700 xt offered by me.

Fear of losing out by paying a mark up hurt someone that could have grabbed it.

Back to today no gear for you is the general message all over the world.  I think this will extend the run a long time. As it creates the perception that value exists.

2021 will be the most amazing bull run we have ever seen.

yesterday day a grabbed an evga 3080  3897 for 1300 six months to pay.

https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=10G-P5-3897-KR. it is 880 plus 61 tax or 941

So I was marked up 359 usd is this stupid on my part. well in 40 days I will have earned the marked up back and in 100 more the card is free.

I laid out 0 cash have 6 months to pay it off. I would buy this card again if offered this deal.

I say keep the card shortage going.

Well it is easier to think this if you have 60+ cards mining with most fully paid off.

And if you still have some older generation cards running, it takes more time for them to become phased out/out classed/not profitable/not worth the space and time-due to higher efficiency/hashrate of "new generation" cards.

Awesome Phil!  I totally missed it.  I haven't shopped at Best Buy for years before this but them keeping their prices at MSRP has me impressed.  Back in January I was able to snag a 3090 Founders Edition from them at MSRP of $1499 and a 3070 for $560.  I guess this was before the 25% tax took place perhaps.

Pny cards are decent. I have a 3070 model. I have to go to brick nj  best buy about 10 miles from my house to pick it up on  the 20th. of march.

Also this purchase put me over the $3500 threshold for 2021  to be an eliteplus member for the whole year.

That means 45 day returns.  So if all gpu mining crashes in 44 days or less I can return the card.  A small hedge.

To be clear I have spent enough with them in

2016
2017
2018
2019
2020
2021

so I am a six year elite plus member I think I have done 3 returns in 40 days in those six years.

it is better to have two instead of one bigger intake industrial fan, when one of them fails at least the farm can get by while the other one is being replaced or repaired.

- always have spares
- always have extra capacitors, they are easy to replace
- it is better to have those industrial fans running at full speed, because even when capacitors fail there is a higher electromagnetism(at full speed) to get the rotor to start rotating, if it did not rotate it can burn the windings or just trip the thermal fuse. in any case it is always better that it keeps on running. the only time it will fail to start is if the bearing is in degraded condition- the higher electromagnetism can't slowly rotate the rotor.  (happened in my farm, so that's why GPU temps are getting suspicious here hehe)

that fan ran for 3-4 years all through out the bear market and in the later part i knew the starting capacitor is dead, but the bearing is okay so i just left it. will try to replace the bearing and capacitor, but if it becomes a nuisance for repair i'll just throw it away.

update:

the culprit was the gearbox with hardened grease inside and weak starting capacitor, fixed it by removing the gear connected to the rotor... now it is just the three, stator, rotor or bearing, who will give in first? hehe...i knew a failing bearing will have some weird noise but none so far.

didn't replace the bearing, although it is not in pristine condition anymore, i think i can squeeze a good 2 or 3 years more from that.

removing bearing needs a press, hammering might compromise the frame or the new bearing or my hands LOL...might bring it to a machine shop in bear market when i have time.

I have a QuietCool attic fan in the garage window.  It came with a variable speed thingy and thermostat.  I have it plugged on a normal smart plug that I can program on/off times.  https://quietcoolsystems.com/attic-fan/  Bought it on ebay, the green one.  although its better to have the normal red one I think and add your own thermostat / on / off system.  Although they seem to have added that on their new models ?  Made in USA, nice fan, good build quality, actually pretty quiet, low wattage.  so far 3 years almost 24hrs/day except 2-3 months in winter no problems good as new.

Those fan and ventilators don't have a gearbox since they are fixed in one direction, not in my case..by removing the gear connected to the rotor, it becomes a simple fixed direction industrial fan..weak link removed hehe.

Anyway i have a spare coming, will remove gear too.

At full speed, starting capacitors don't matter much unless the fan is hard to turn at the start.

Anyone heard of Linus tech on YouTube? Basically it’s a very popular and technical computer channel. I always liked his content.

A few hours ago he released a new video sponsored by Nicehash called “start mining now before it’s too late”. These types of videos posted by Normies usually indicates a top is going to form sooner or later.

The guy has like 13 million viewers and it should make getting GPUs even more difficult and the difficulty will rise even further since many non miners will start to mine. Especially how easy it is to do on nicehash.

I also remember in 2017 there was another YouTube channel which was geared towards Automotive content. Basically it was some 16 year old kid driving around in a Lambo and showing off his vehicles, called JR garage or something.

Icing on the cake was when all of a sudden his channel took a drastic turn from automotive content into financial advice. And basically instead of investing in quality coins like BTC and ETH they promoted shitcoins like Pac-Man Coin and the like.

They also knew nothing about the mid cap coins they promoted like ADA or XRP. They basically said and I still remember this to this day “Ripple is the most decentralized coin on the market, more decentralized than Bitcoin”. I think like a week or month later we hit the market top.

But when we start seeing chefs, mechanics, and hair stylists promoting crypto on their YouTube channel. Means we are nearing the top one way or another.

I like your logic...his channel seems like another clickbait YouTube channel...but he gets views.
