Today I have received my AntMiner S2. Nice package, nice device, nice smell, seems to be working well for 8+ hours... I did not performed a firmware upgrade because of non-guaranteed power (it's Russia...), I will do it later, when I'll place it to the place of free electricity... Now my miner is: Kernel Version Linux 3.8.13 #1 SMP Fri Jan 17 23:04:23 CST 2014 File System Version Thu Apr 10 19:08:42 CST 2014 Cgminer Version 3.12.0

Is there a similar form factor s4 coming soon? Really wanted to finish off this server rack with something similar to the s2, but using 28nm chips of course

Upgrade boards for the S2 were mentioned in an OP from BM, but no word yet. I would presume those boards and an S4 product would release pretty close to the same time, as they may be the same cards!

Late september would be fine with me… I can't picture any S2 owner wanting to upgrade right now because not even the batch 1 units have been in the game long enough to ROI… So with that said you would be throwing away money unless there was a way to use the old cards .. It would be nice to see if someone could come up with a Pi mod or BBB mod to use the old boards.

I'm not sure what the upgrade is... But I've heard firmware, just can't remember where... If that's the case it wouldn't be replacing anyting in the old unit.
Although - Increasing its hashing by .8 - 1.0 TH with simply firmware seems a bit of a stretch. So, I don't know.
Guess we'll just have to wait for another announcement! I'm sure now that the S3 released their R&D team will be focused on the project.

If we could hash last-gen/next-gen in the same box, that would be grand. That may be a pipe dream.

BM said they would be providing upgrade hardware for the S1/S2 owners in the announcement OP of the S3. Not firmware.

I just noticed those funny characters at the top - but they are really there - checked 2 miners Yes I see them on mine too. I'd deleted some of the entries and needed the full list without doing a factory reset, which resets the ipconfig back to static. Really appreciate it. Thanks

Hello everyone, Last Batch of AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner is Sold Out. Will be Antminer S4 ? Could be... S2 is now gone from the website. Maybe they are re-engineering the S2, rumor had it that some people got S2's that hashed at 2Th, so I wonder if the S4 will be 2 Th/s. That would be a start, but they need something to compete with Spondoolies which I think is starting to eat into their marketshare. As soon as the S3 sold out in Batch 3, the SP30 (6Th/s) September batch sold out.

Spondoolies stopped selling it when they got chips, assembled working units, and learned that it would not meet the advertised performance of 6TH/s at 2500W.

What does it say your speed is on the pool? Could it just be a error being reported to the LCD?
Sure it can be a firmware issue while at ozco.in side it shows 1,104.92 GHash/s. is it safe the change of firmware? What temperature you got with that?
At least the process goes smoothly. The temperature of the boards is about 47-50ºC, 54º at hottest (upper in the list) board. All that is displaying in web interface. LCD shows 49.8ºC. S2 is now at my home, this evening I'll move it to my working place where the air conditioner can make an ambient even 19ºC... S2 is discontinued? Sorry, what do you mean? It reboots after firmware upgrade, if you mean that.
