Given that most peoples vouchers have expired, bitmain are going to have to do some serious price cuts.

They sold some in a group buy a week ago (that I missed grrrr) for $1650 so there is plenty of margin in them for a price drop.

Come on Bitmain, got coins, ready to buy, would just like a reasonable chance of a ROI Smiley

Pleas for a decent price have gone completely un-noticed/ignored. I think bitmain must expect us all to just send him the coins regardless of the fact that 3.7 BTC for 1 GH/s is just plain crazy (or ~3.2 with a - by now - rare voucher - still plain crazy)

[edit] still have 1 400$ S2 voucher for sale at 0.15 BTC for the plain crazy who will buy anyway... pm if interested

3.7btc for 1GHs is indeed crazy. May assume that you meant 1THs?  Cheesy

And you do know that pleading with a company to lower their prices has absolutely no effect when there are many other people willing to buy at the current price?

Yes, corrected that in my post thank you Smiley

I'm not sure pleading for a fair price is pointless though - I reckon bitmain reads these posts... sometimes...

Look at it this way... BitMain expects a certain amount of revenue to be generated by sales of their units. As long as they meet their goals and sell as many units as they want, they will not significantly drop their price. If suddenly the demand drops, then they will lower their price.

If there is a second thing that BitMain excels at, it's pricing their miners to sell. No amount of pleading has or will change their formula.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Maybe so, but when the S1 price was 0.9something and I posted a note saying wtf - we need a step change etc - the next day he dropped the price to 0.6something. Could just be a coincidence and part of his pricing plan like you say. But could also be down to the posts saying wtf...

At 3 BTC these should be able to make a nice ROI, assuming you have a well-priced hosting/electrical cost.

2.5 BTC would be more like an ROI imo - which could actually happen this weekend - BTC up 10% nearly today...

I was thinking of keeping one unused ant as a future collectors item, but then again, who knows what will happen later.

I think since the S2's are modular and he has stated he will have a low cost upgrade to 2TH in a few months I don't see why if you runt hem log enough and do the upgrade you cant recover you investment. I think the beauty of the new S2 design is the upgrade able PSU and blades all he needs to do in the future is sell his client new blades with his new chips to increase hash rate per watt as he evolves. personally I think its a great move. Glad I ordered my S2's with the coupon right before he dumped them all from everyone's accounts. So far my batch 4 Units all arrived safe and in good working order one of them even had a metal plate inside to hold the cards in place this was not on my first unit, that one only had the rails which also worked but this design is even better

The UPS guy told me it weighted around 17Kg, it was well packed with the whole unit wrapped in bubble wrap.

That metal plate is genius.  Now all they need to do is include a class 10 SD card.  Now don't tell me they did that too!  Oh Bitmain... YOU GUYS!

OK, I'll bite...  So where are you buying your 1TH miners from?  What price are you paying for them?  (I am sure I will regret tempting a troll with this post!)
