Yesterday I had read somewhere here in Italy that Madrid is asking about to be the city of the final for this Champions League.
According to as.com, Lisbon has overtaken other cities to host the finals, including Madrid and Moscow, although the contracts are yet to be signed so nothing is official as of now. Apparently, Madrid was dropped due to current renovations to the Bernebau and the Metropolitan not meeting the requirements of UEFA.

Yesterday I had read somewhere here in Italy that Madrid is asking about to be the city of the final for this Champions League. Yep, the article that i posted says that right now Lisbon is the main favorite, but the Madrid option is still on the table. Today, the major of Madrid confirmed that there are indeed ppl talking to UEFA so that they take the games to Spain. But, to be honest, I'd rather they go to Portugal, they govt there took care of the pandemic way better than in Spain. Plus, the last CL final was in Madrid, I mean, come on now, two finals in a row? That would be the 3rd CL final in Spain in the last 10 years, Portugal only held 2 finals in the history of the competition Also, Real Madrid won La Decima in the Estádio da Luz, so it's kinda like our lucky charm, you know? =P But i'm more intested to know what you guys think about the one-match format, it practically means that each game will be a Final.

All this clubs, Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris SG etc. became strong and "big " almost overnight because of the same reason. Some reach man with suspicious history wanted public recognition and decide that professional football club is the best way to achieve it. Of course nobody can buy history but they wants instant success and don't care about fair play or fair competition. I hope we will see justice in the case with Manchester City and this will be good warning for others who also trying to cheat with finance.
Yep, I hope City & anybody else who tries to take a shortcut to join the elite clubs get punished. It shouldn’t be possible for a small club like City to get bought & go from being a pathetic club to winning trophies regularly because they’re being used by State funded play money. Clubs like Real Madrid, Barca, Juve, Liverpool, Bayern, Man Utd, both Milan teams etc have done things the right way over decades & decades. Why should a club come from nowhere & break every rule to join them?

I am not here to defend ManCity at all but what you consider doing things 'the right way' can pretty much be summed up by 'taking on debts'. Some of the clubs you mentioned have debts of hundreds of millions euros.

Yesterday I had read somewhere here in Italy that Madrid is asking about to be the city of the final for this Champions League. I read that the final 8 is going to happen in Portugal. What I understand is that they are trying to find a place that COVID-19 didn't hit with a lot of infections. If this is the criteria, Italy and Spain is not the right choice.

So these are the latest news about the CL and how it will proceed once the RO16 games are over (nothing official yet so take this with a grain of salt): - Quarter-finals and semis will follow a one-match format. No two legs. (Barca fans are happy lol)- Games will be played in Portugal in two stadiums: José Alvalade (home of Sporting) and Estádio da Luz (home of Benfica). - Final will be held in the Estádio da Luz on August 23. - No word about Europa League SourceThoughts? I think the ban could be dropped due to some technicality. And by "some technicality" you mean bags and more bags filled with €€$$, right? =P It's already old news 😀 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5163249.msg54552996#msg54552996https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5163249.msg54576907#msg54576907It looks like the EL final wil be played in Frankfurt but not confirmed yet.

I'm Barca fan and despite our painful experience in recent years, I don't like such one-match format. It gives some advantage to weaker teams and luck factor is bigger. I may be wrong, but I'm not sure that "weight" and value of 2020 Champions league trophy will be same as all other previous trophies. Even after 10 years we will probably remember that it was pandemic season where games were held in neutral grounds behind closed doors, what makes big difference.

Think about it like a world cup game. Teams have to concentrate and score because there is no second chance! Of course two matches are the best choice especially for bigger teams but given the actual circumstances it is wiser to have 1 match and complete the CL rather than 2 and cut it again due to an infection spike or whatever reason..

If you’ll bother to see then Manchester United is bigger not because of it’s money power, or the trophy’s that they have won, it’s bigger because of it’s history and Manchester City can never achieve it, hence I’ll always consider them as a small club in comparison to Manchester United. The video conference on June 17 will also discuss the host cities of Euro 2020, which has been postponed for 2021. Probably they will now wait until the leagues in Spain, Italy and the BPL have resumed playing. And then they'll have to wait until these leagues have finished the current season before they can think about hosting a Champions League and Europa League tournament with the remaining teams. That's going to be a tough task to organize all these matches. All in all, stressful weeks ahead for the teams from Spain and Italy, which still have to play 10 and 12 matchdays respectively. Good thing that they already know that Atletico Madrid would win the UCL if they have to cancel the remaining matches because they kicked-out Liverpool. How is the international flight situation going? Are we allowed to travel from one nation to another yet? I never checked because to be honest even if it was allowed I do not have enough for a vacation anywhere, but if its allowed that means teams could travel. In case its not allowed to travel from one nation to another, how are teams planning on making a tournament? There is not really all that many games left, so I would assume maybe teams would all get to a place just like the finals but instead way before that and all would play each other until elemination and all the games would be in just one city and one stadium? That way you could have all teams not travelling and get there 14 or whatever days beforehand and be risk free and out of lockdown and training. You have to finish the current season first though.

^^Euro 2021 would be the main talk I am sure, they have very little time to decide where it will be and with that period we are going to both have to make sure in a year wherever it will be is safe and healthy but also ready for nations to come there as well.
The regular football is back already, which means I am sure it will not be a problem for the teams to play but fans and millions of dollars tied to fans are still a question, it is a year away so I think people will be watching on the stadiums as well. You either decide right away and let them prepare like crazy for a year or you just get yourself something not done properly at all. I personally would assume having it ready right now would be priority.
How to conclude the current seasons cups could be something as simple as just giving dates and that's it, as long as teams are allowed to fly between each other I doubt it would be any different than league games that are already running right now.

That is exactly what they are planning at the moment. As far as I know Lisbon is currently in the best position to host the remaining Champions League matches. In this case Istanbul would be allowed to host another final in the future as compensation. For the Europa League tournament it could be Germany to host the remaining matches. Update: Seems like it is confirmed now that the UCL matches will be played in Lisbon and the Europa League matches in North Rhine-Westphalia or other parts of Germany ( https://www.transfermarkt.com/reports-champions-league-mini-tournament-in-lisbon-europa-league-in-germany/view/news/362678)

What would be the reason to separate europa league and Champions league to different countries? It would be safer to do both finals in hehe same country as there will be no fans and no income is going to flow.
