⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 winner - Real Madrid!

I also knew it was going to be a tough match, this is the Uefa champions league final, a one leg game and both teams won’t want to make mistakes on this one, it’s almost the end of the first half and both teams are fairly even I think it’s would remain goalless, even into the second half, but I believe Liverpool has the focus to hold Real Madrid from scoring and possible get a goal for themselves in the second half.

It seems so far both teams are playing cautiously, they are trying not to make mistakes, no wonder no goals have been scored. Unfortunately Real Madrid
was not able to build a good attack, although Real Madrid have Karim Benzema but so far Real Madrid are still struggling to create chances for 45 minutes
in the first half. Liverpool in the first half did play a little better than Real Madrid, they were able to create some chances. Unfortunately Liverpool have not
been lucky, because they have not been able to score goals. I understand it's a final and it's a huge pressure for players in both teams. So both teams
really have to play carefully and can't play too aggressively. It seems very likely the match will end in a draw and will proceed to extra time based on
my predictions.

The first half has ended and so far Liverpool have been the dominant side obviously. They haven't given much chance to Real Madrid in general. But the last minutes were quite interesting in this half. Benzema was able to score a goal after a very interesting situation but it was cancelled by VAR decision after waiting for a long time. It wasn't easy for the VAR referees to make the right decision about this. I was also hesitant about it because the ball came from Fabinho to Benzema. But I must have forgotten about another rule at this point.    Anyway, I'm happy that Liverpool didn't concede a goal there and I hope that they can get ahead in the second half.

Liverpool seems to be a stronger team but in the end, Real will win IMHO.

indeed in this case Liverpool are in control but what they are showing now.

A very difficult match, very... Liverpool have a complete lead in this game, and only one Real Madrid moment that deserves attention. It comes with the understanding that there won't be many goals, it's probably a one goal game, nothing more. I really hope the teams don't get to extra time, much less penalties... Yes Liverpool played pretty well in the first half. Their two stars Salah and Mane performed quite well. Mane had a good chance to score in the first half but unfortunately his hard shot hit the post. I saw that Real Madrid's defense was quite busy keeping the movements of Salah and Mane because these two attackers performed quite well in the first half. maybe it looks like you said this final will not be many goals are created .

Right, based on statistics Liverpool are very dominating they are active in attacking and defending even Madrid only got one chance to shoot

Well don't forget, when it comes to playing Real Madrid in the champions league this season, statistic doesn't matter as the last three opponents they faced destroyed them in regards to the stats but they still found a way to win the game and that's mainly due to experience and fighting spirit in the team. Looking at the first half, you could say Liverpool are the favorite yet they haven't gotten the ball to the back of the net irrespective of how many chances they have gotten.

Real Madrid held only one chance and the ball was at the back of the net but only got called off due to the offside rule which if i was setting at the VAR position, I'll give that a goal. There was an intention to clear the ball by the Liverpool defender and not a mistake as i believe that would have been the reason for the cancellation.

That offside against Benzema just threw away all the rules I know about football,  how the hell was that ball offside??? At this point VAR is the worst thing that happened to football.
From all whats happening cleraly these guys want Liverpool to take it but it won't happen, Real Madrid are winning this much against all odds!

That contestant opportunity for Real Madrid made the night for people to discuss or fight during this first half. The amount of talks about it is incredible. I see people blaming French and UEFA for hating Real Madrid and others accusing PSG owner to bribe them lol. The players themselves don't seem to be offended as their fans!

After the whole Liverpool hype, after 5 shots on target by Liverpool, Real Madrid scored 1 goal already. There is still 20 minutes to the end of the match, anything can still happen. But if Real Madrid won this season Champions League, that will be 14th won season. It has been an interesting match to watch up to this point.

10 minute left, the game is almost over. Liverpool have to do something offensively and it looks like Real only want to defend. Another chance to score is just a coinflip, so Real Madrid are now extremely defensive and win the cup. If that happens, then the game was very boring.

The second half of the game has been more enjoyable in my opinion. Finally we watched a goal in this half. Real Madrid found the goal and got 1-0 ahead. They are still maintaining this lead against Liverpool but it is really tough for them now. Liverpool have begun to increase their goal attempts a lot in these minutes. Real Madrid are just having a defensive play now and looking for counter-attacks. They have just found a very critical chance but they have wasted it. Courtois has been incredible by the way.

What are you expecting though? Real Madrid to keep on pressuring eventhough there are only few minutes left and they are leading with 1 goal? thats not happening. Real Madrid's luck was that Thibaut Courtois defended his goal very well, many chances from Liverpool but Thibaut Courtois was able to parry all the ball kicks from Mohamed Salah and the other strikers.
I really hope Liverpool can match the scoreline to make the game more interesting, but Real Madrid's goalkeeper and defense are very good.

Real Madrid have their goalie Thibaut Courtois to thank in this final, he made many important stops for Real Madrid and definitely deserves to be recognised as the Man of the Match. Real Madrid have really had a good run in this competition, they have not played the best football but they somehow always manage to get the job done. Real Madrid took good advantage of their chances, not so many attempts but playing more confidently in this second half has earned them the win.

Congratulations Real Madrid and Karim Benzema who most definitely is the most eligible for the Ballon d'or.

Congratulations to Real Madrid for qualifying as champions, despite the Handball controversy you have witnessed. In fact the final whistle has been blown. It was incredibly stressful and we saw for the umpteenth time Real Madrid were champions again.

Liverpool turned out to be unable to avenge him, Mane looked bad and barren. So we will see Benzema as the best player this season.

At the beginning of the second half of the match, the tempo was a little slow. Honestly, I expected the Champions League final to be better. After Real Madrid scored, there was some movement in the game. But Real Madrid dominated the game as they wanted. They didn't play good quality football, but they knew how to win. In games like this, the most important thing is to win. Real Madrid managed to win. Congratulations to Real Madrid and their supporters.

Absolutely gutted. Honestly, man of the match has to be Courtois without him we would've been running away with the tie. Well, a brilliant season for Liverpool regardless, which unfortunately will be forgotten due to the only silverware won being the cups, which Klopp, and us fans have pretty much not cared about in the past. While, I do like winning them, there's nothing like winning the Premier league or Champions League. Just a disappointing end to the season. Well done to Real Madrid, they aren't the team they used to be, i.e attacking, and exciting, but they're pretty damn good at what they do.

real madrid play very calmly, this is what makes them true champions. Liverpool looks very ambitious with a win, this can be seen from the "shot" that Liverpool did, it's really a lot compared to Madrid. once again congrats to real madrid and fans.
