Dammit dude, I really need to up my quality I guess. I feel bad and I'm only at 200 posts, some of these absolute legends are at 2k+ and have less than a 100 merit.
I'm really trying but I just don't feel like I deserve anything after seeing how much these guys have contributed. I just need to figure out a topic I can provide some insight into that hasn't already been done...
You could likely provide insight to any topic that is of interest to you. You follow such topic or even create threads on such topic, and thereby, even if there are 100s of members that know more about the topic than you, you can still provide value based on your own perspectives, opinion, view of facts and logic.
You don't even need to recreate the wheel or create another coin or ICO in order to accomplish such.
For example, this forum has bitcoin in its name, and a whole hell of a lot of members are interested in bitcoin. Sometimes they pump other bullshit projects in order to acquire more bitcoin, but still, in the end, they might be pumping some baloney bullshit while really understanding that bitcoin is the kingdaddy.
So, whether you are enthusiastic about bitcoin or some other coin, you don't necessarily have to discover something novel, because if you really explore your own interests and attempt to genuinely provide your own insight while attempting to be responsive to other members, likely merits would follow from that.
Finally, there should be no reason to necessarily judge other members by their number of merits, but of course, a lot of merits would likely demonstrate that the member puts a decent amount of time and thought into forum contributions - but there surely are a lot of members who might not have a lot of merits, but they also might feel that it is NOT productive for their own use of time to spend a lot of time on the forum or their contributions.
Edit: By the way, I just did a quickie glance at some of your recent posts, and you do seem to have a tendency to post a lot of bullshit, just short posts with hardly any substance nor analysis contained therein.
So, yeah "upping your game" could be a beneficial thing for you, in terms of possibly inspiring other members to merit your contributions,.... not in terms of the quantity of your posts, but instead attempting to provide better quality per post that might come from reading more and attempting to actually provide content that is responsive to a member's or multiple members' concerns that you might be able to identify in the threads that you read (beyond just reading the title of the thread or whatever other random thought that comes into your mind that might of might not be relevant to any point(s) raised in the thread), if you were not seeming to bounce around so much from topic to topic in such a short period of time.
Surely, I would not be arguing that all posts need to have high quality, but if you have a few posts of decently high quality, you might find that some members become inspired to send you an smerit or two because they gain confidence in your contributions (or abilities to contribute).. Sometimes, I will send smerits to low quality posts, while recognizing that the member has a tendency to provide decent quality and/or insights to the forum, but not necessarily good quality in the post that I am meriting.
