If Smith isn't there, they still got Labuschagne who got 50+ runs. He may not be as good as Smith in building partnerships but still he performed well so Aus too have a chance but still rain has a better chance. :-P

It is raining quite heavily in West Yorkshire (where the Leeds cricket ground is located), but the weather predictions are saying that things will get better after Thursday. So although the first day of the play may get disrupted by rain, the chances are that the next four days will be free of any such disruption. Remember how close was England to a win (the injury suffered by Smith played a large role though), despite almost 150 overs were lost to rain during the Lords test.

That said, Steve Smith has attracted criticism from medical circles, after he chose to resume his innings despite the head injury. Check this:

It was "incredibly dangerous" for Steve Smith to resume his innings in the second Ashes Test at Lord's, brain injury charity Headway has claimed. Smith was hit in the neck by a 92mph bouncer from Jofra Archer on day three but passed an initial concussion test and returned to continue his innings.  With concussion, the vision can be blurred and the brain can be slow at processing information. That leads to delayed reaction times and is just incredibly dangerous.

I don't want to comment on this, but I thought that without Smith resuming his innings, Australia could have lost the match. He added some valuable runs and prevented England from leveling the series 1-1.

If I were to bet then I would go with this:
India vs West Indies: Draw no bet India to win @ 1.15
England vs Australia: Draw no bet England to win @ 1.57
New Zealand vs Sri Lanka: Draw no bet New Zealand to win @ 1.86

The reason going with Draw no bet is the rain. In all three matches, we never know rain may play big role and in that case any match could draw. You do not want to risk much when you are playing multibet.

Majority of Cricket tests never end in a draw even if the weather conditions don't help out sometimes. Australia could have lost the recent test match and survived barely even after consecutive days of rainfall recently.

Also, the number of tests which ended in a draw this year are 2 in 20 matches which is why draw no bet is a bad option in Cricket. It is a much better option in Soccer though.

I don't want to comment on this, but I thought that without Smith resuming his innings, Australia could have lost the match. He added some valuable runs and prevented England from leveling the series 1-1.

I have a mixed feeling about this event. i can understand why he resumed his inning after the incident but i am sure no one want to witness unfortunate event similar to "Phillip Hughes".

It was a really unfortunate incident and death during sporting events are rare and heart breaking, first was Raman Lamba case where the ball was stuck in his head while fielding and then a Pakistan player died on the field during a friendly match, i have not seen any of these matches live and more of these accidents occurred during domestic matches including Randall from South Africa and Phillip Hughes, Steve Smith should have rested after being hit on the head after all it is a sporting event and not to take risks like that, glad that he will not play the next test and he need a proper rest after a blow like that.

But when someone take long break then it is very hard and almost impossible to get into the playing squad again in the team like Australia that is why he want to continue his good career but we need to consider our life more than our career.

But on Archer part it was really not a sportsman spirit he had showned and as a courtsey he should have went stright to the Smith to check if he is fine like other England players had gone after he had fallen down.

True. Test cricket used to be boring before because team were too defensive but now teams are more attacking. I think T20 changed this mindset.

Weather is no one's control and even i have seen predictions about weather have gone wrong. So there is always a risk involve in betting in some places like UK where rain is always around the corner.

For the third test at Leeds which will start from Aug 22, i wish rain stays away in those 5 days so that we may see some thrilling cricket. By every passing day, England are becoming better, lets see if they manage to win the next match.

Smith's incident is part of game and about Archer behavior its nothing new we have many examples in past many bowlers done this and they never excuse so now we have cricket game of gentlemen is only in papers not in ground and its almost kill spirit of cricket too much money is involve and we are losing all good and gentlemen like Amla and many more.

LOL... That is definitely not the case. He was out of the squad for well over an year for that ban from ball tampering and once the ban was over, he was automatically picked for the playing XI. What you said may be true for some of the other players, but definitely not for Steve Smith. I can't imagine Australia ignoring their best batsman, who has almost played like a one man army during the recent matches. What I am saying is that he had the choice of not resuming the innings after he got hit, but he chose otherwise to help the team. And in the end it turned out to be a very crucial decision. England was just four wickets away from a win (technically just three wickets).

From tomorrow it would be an exciting day for test match because their are 3 matches starting on the same day - Ashesh , Nz -SL and third is India - West Indies. All three would be an exciting to watch out for and also as currently no ODI happening so this will keep people busy as well .

I find better value betting on teams outright and don't worry about the draw which usually gives be better odds overall. Use a betting system on top of this and you can make some serious money through test matches.

Exactly my thoughts. If Warner gets back in form, England could be in danger here since we all know how good a player a really is. I feel like he is the left handed equivalent of Steve Smith.

However Australia leads the tournament. This match has got increased winning probability for England, but we cannot expect the match to go single sided. Tomorrow we've got two matches were scheduled, one is between India vs West Indies and the other one is Australia vs England. From my view this time India will win against West Indies and the match between Australia vs England seems to end as a draw.

Sad news, Smith is out from the third Test.

Without him the Australian team is looking very poor. England now has the best chance to come back to the series and equalize the result. I really hope that Smith recovers soon. This injury is not looking good at all.

Anyway, tomorrow will be a busy day for Cricket lovers. three Test from 6 Test playing nations, quite exciting. I will be watching Australia vs England one as usual. I may watch bits and pieces of India vs WI too.

I only heard about Smith that he is not playing in the third match. This is already a very bad news for Australian team. I have no idea about the openers but if they perform (especially Warner) like they did in the first two Test then it will be very difficult for Australian team even to give a fight against English team.

In the last two match, if you take off Smith from Australian team then you will see there were no significant performance from the team. It was Smith who single handily fought against the English bowlers.

Without Smith in the team Australia will find it hard to put a good total on the board as Wade and Tim Head is the next best player in the Ashes in this series for Australia and it is a worrying scene, England played better in the second test and i am sure they will level the series in this test, Warner and Khawaja has to step up their game if they expect to post any challenging score on the board, Toss is another factor as i expect the pitch to turn on the final day and then i will make my mind about placing a bet  .
