'We felt a bit like we got the Ashes stolen' - Justin Langerhttps://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/27521602/we-felt-bit-got-ashes-stolen-justin-langer"The main challenge, the biggest one, is that you know how much work's gone into winning this Ashes series," Langer said. "It's been huge, from the preparation, the Australia A stuff, the selections, everything that's gone into it, and it was that close, we were that close. That's the toughest part of it, we were that close, and we let an opportunity slip. Therefore, when you let an opportunity slip you can dwell on it or you can use it as fire to make sure it doesn't slip next time. I don't wanna say this, but... "after the World Cup, time to steal the Ashes!"

Anyway, India won the match and I don't want to complain too much about Kohli's decision. But he should be more careful in the future. Throughout the series, Indians treated the WI like some club side. It is partially true, as a West Indies team without players such as Dre Russell, Kieron Pollard and Chris Gayle is even worse than an associate side such as the Netherlands. Kemar Roach was the sole international quality player in the entire XI. When they give chances to Rahkeem Cornwall and Shamarh Brooks, you know there is something wrong with the team.

~snip~ India is going to play two series at home against South Africa and Bangladesh and then one away series against New Zealand this is very good time for them to widening gape from tough competitors as they can won these all three and two are two tests and one is three tests against South Africa in my view they can go through 3 - 0 so they will lead for some long time.
No doubt India is fav against the visiting teams. SA lost her charm after the departure of many players but who knows if any new player perform exceptionally and stand out in the series. Bangladesh is a good team, but their record is not excellent against India, so there are some chances to seize some points. 'We felt a bit like we got the Ashes stolen' - Justin Langer~Snip~ I don't wanna say this, but... "after the World Cup, time to steal the Ashes!" Yeah, you don't want to say anything

See even Indian cricket has faced many challenges like this before when the team don't have a proper batsman in the past. It doesn't mean that WI is not strong, International games will always have a proper selection team behind every cricket nation. Some time, every country will face this type of challenges so we shouldn't blame WI.

Jason Holder? Roston Chase? You need to understand that the West Indian team has been performing badly for quite sometime now. Also, Cornwall took the important wicket of Pujara and his economy was good which is why he was a good selection.

From my view they've got big players, but the board and players have some misunderstanding which has gone into controversy several times. This will surely cause some drawback while the player selection is done.

They did not choose any man of the series even though the series got over. They could have chosen Rahane who performed well in both matches.
Virat is now on the 2nd position and Smith after a year ban is on the first with just 1 point more. Hope Virat can perform better against SA as his performance was not so consistent in both matches.

Smith has come back strongly after the ban and continuing his best performance. Virat would definitely want to get back his top form against deadly SA as it would be a tough series for India. WI would have thought of better cricket but just did not deliver it .

At least against weak sides such as West Indies, other batsmen like Ajinkya Rahane are contributing and so they are not overly dependent on Virat Kohli. But I don't know what will happen against South Africa, as they have a good pace attack. Perhaps the Indian batsmen can do better, as flat subcontinental pitches don't offer much seam movement and bounce.

Ajinkya is not bad batsmen per se. Virat didn't use him according to his potential and keeping him in-out from the team all the time (Ex south Africa tour). This kind of uncertainty should not be allowed in the team when it comes to any solid Test Batsmen. Guess he needs some tattoo on the arm just like KL Rahul

The players you mentioned like Russel, Pollard and Gayle and good T20 players but they are not good enough for Test match cricket, the West Indies board has to find good players to represent their nation for Test matches and if not we will see disastrous tours like these. India does have a potent bowling attack that could trouble any good side and with the weak batting line up West Indies had it was a matter of how they could extend their matches.

Australia will make two changes for the 4th test match. Smith will come back into the team with Usman Khawaja making way for him. Strac will also come into the team for the first time this series which I think is a good decision as he could be the big difference late in the test match if it comes down to the wire like it did in the previous test match.

They are excellent T20 cricketers, and decent enough ODI/Test players. In the past they had Test specialists such as Shivnarine Chanderpaul. But nowadays I can't find a single test match specialist within the West Indies side. So they need to adjust with their available player pool, irrespective of their playing style. They may be T20 specialists, but the truth is that these three players are their best. Kemar Roach was the sole international quality player in the entire XI. When they give chances to Rahkeem Cornwall and Shamarh Brooks, you know there is something wrong with the team.

Jason Holder and Roston Chase would fail to be an automatic pick to the playing XI, had they been representing teams such as New Zealand and South Africa (I am not even considering the possibility of them qualifying for the Big 3 teams). Cornwall may have picked a few wickets, but he was expensive. What is the point in giving a bowling slot to a part time bowler?

Guess he needs some tattoo on the arm just like KL Rahul Ajinkya is quite a bit unlucky like Dinesh Kartik. He used to perform regularly but didn't get selected due to Dhoni, if Dhoni for some reason got out of the team, it's Kartik's day. Ajinkya in West Indies tour1st test 1st innings- 81 2nd innings- 102 2nd test 1st innings- 24 2nd innings- 64 With this outstanding performance, he will be kept outside from the team. I guess there's no much politics going on Indian team.

Chanderpaul, Brian Lara etc were legends from the past. I do agree with you with the fact that there are not many players like them in the current team, but calling Russell etc their best test players doesn't make any sense. Jason Holder and Roston Chase would fail to be an automatic pick to the playing XI, had they been representing teams such as New Zealand and South Africa (I am not even considering the possibility of them qualifying for the Big 3 teams). Jason Holder has been consistently taking wickets for quite sometime now which is why he is a great pick and I disagree with you here. Also, they are simply experimenting with Cornwall currently which is why I understand his selection.

The Ashes 2019 4th Test Australia elected to bat and lost their first wicket for only one run LOL. Just tuned and seeing one down :-P Warner failed again! How many more? Smith and Starc back, that's the good news.
My prediction still stands - Australia to win.
Edit: Guys, battle between Smith and Archer is beautiful.

As in the last two test matches, Manchester test is also rain affected. The Series is currently tied at 1-1 and this match is also very important as the winner of this match cannot lose the Ashes and will go in the next and final test with a lot more confidence. Lets hope rain goes away soon and we have remaining full day of play.

Rain interuption actually killes the excitement at times and also when it is ashes you need to have the complete 5 days test match as both teams have being perfoming well. Also after winning the toss OZ decided to bat first and playing well for 107/2 and Smith is on crease batting with 38.
