Soumya Sarkar may gift a victory to Bangladesh today. But the interesting thing is that he hardly got any support from the other batsmen. Apart from his 169, the next top score was 45 from the no.6 batsman Mushfiqur Rahim. And it's not like the New Zealand bowlers were wayward. They bowled with tight line and length, especially Adam Milne, Jacob Duffy and William O’Rourke. Adithya Ashok, on his ODI debut did a decent job as well. Still, a Bangladesh win is not confirmed yet. The pitch looks good for batting.

Despite Soumyo Sarker's massive collection of 169, Bangladesh failed to give away the 300+ target. I do not see any improvement in Bangladesh's batting order. Soumyo played well today. But Bangladesh's top order is weak as usual. Anamul Haque 2, Shanto and Liton returned to the dressing room with 6 runs each. If these 3 experienced top order batsmen could bat well, Bangladesh could have given a target of more than 350 in today's match. I don't think 291 is enough to beat New Zealand.

Bangladesh teams top orders are always failing to collect good start, it’s their common weakness for the long time. Yeah, only 2 batsman taken good runs Soumyo Sarkar 169 (151) & Musfiqur Rahim 45 (57), it was surprised to BAN team Soumyo got century after 5 years it’s a brilliant come back. Without top orders batsmans runs they will never reach 300 runs, so it’s not a fighting scored to New Zealand, they will win because they have strong batting line up.

Bangladesh has been looking very weak since the Cricket World Cup and it is not clear when Bangladesh's weakness will end.  This is the failure of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.  They could not form a good team.  On the other hand, I saw in a news that Shakib Al Hasan, the all-rounder player of the Bangladesh team, is going to vote for parliament, so my question is, if a player is busy with politics, when will he pay attention to the game lol... op I agree with you. Because they have not been able to get out of the batting failure that Bangladesh has been suffering from since the 2023 World Cup. Bangladesh had a fairly good run in the second ODI against New Zealand. Soumya Sarkar came into the field after five long years and scored a brilliant century. But Soumya Sarkar's 169 could not give victory to Bangladesh. But as the reason why Bangladesh lost in today's match, I will see that the batting was fair. But Bangladesh could not bowl well due to which Bangladesh team lost today.

I would say this is one of the reasons for Bangladesh's bad batting. We have seen Bangladeshi batsmen score 300+ runs in very few matches. This team can't play well against big collections either. Bangladesh should change their batting strategy. Finding hard hitting batsmen. The population of Bangladesh is very large and the people of Bangladesh are also very interested in cricket. I would say that you have caught the main problem of the Bangladesh team.There is no question that Bangladesh team cannot play well against any country on foreign soil especially if that pitch is pace bowling friendly.
The few series that Bangladesh have won against big teams have been on Bangladeshi soil and on spin friendly pitches.Playing on spin friendly pitch Bangladeshi players are deteriorating their batting day by day even they can not play pace bowling well.
If Bangladeshi cricket wants to improve, then they have to constantly gain experience playing on pace-friendly pitches.

While I agree with you that in 50 over format, anything above 300 runs is a good target. That does not mean that 291 runs were not defendable by the Bangladesh team. The lack of experienced and effective bowlers has been an issue with the side, and it will continue to haunt them. New Zealand were always a good batting side, and they proved today once again that they can chase runs. Two more games left in this series and I am not expecting much from the Bangladesh side.

If Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed were there, then things could have been a bit different. But that doesn't change the fact that Bangladesh doesn't have any world class pace bowlers. They have minefields at home which offer disproportionate support for the spin bowlers. This in turn discourages the pace bowlers. I would rather say that after the retirement of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Bangladesh never had a world class pacer in their squad. Well, that will work when playing in the subcontinent. But while playing in SENA nations, it will come back to bite you.

But if he stays at the crease, he can play big innings. Farzana remains unbeaten with 20 runs from 46 balls. At the end of 15 overs, Bangladesh women's team managed to collect 56/1. If Bangladesh women team can give a target of 260-280 today then I guess they will win today's match as well.

Bangladesh has not been known in the world for any other sport except cricket, they have been able to represent themselves globally only for this cricket. But suddenly their performance has dropped a lot and they are showing bone in almost all the matches.  Bangladesh lost to New Zealand in two consecutive ODIs. They have their third ODI on December 23 and the way they are playing it looks like they will lose the match that day as well. The reputation of Bangladesh is falling from cricket day by day

The third and final ODI between India and South Africa will be played at Boland Park in Paarl tomorrow. At this point, the series is tied 1-1, so whomever wins tomorrow's match will be the series winners. India won the first match in a comprehensive manner, thanks to some spectacular performance by Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan. But the Indian batsmen disintegrated against Nandre Burger in the second match. For the third match toss is going to be important, as those who have fielded first have won both the matches so far. Also, Sai Sudharsan has impressed everyone in his debut series. So far he has 117 runs from 2 matches.

OP I agree with you. No other batsman except Soumya Sarkar could score good runs in the second ODI against New Zealand. If one or two players like Soumya Sarkar could have scored a century or a fifty, then maybe the score of Bangladesh would have been a little bigger, then Bangladesh could have won this match very easily. But I think the main reason for losing today's match is Bangladesh's poor bowling. We missed Taskin a lot in today's match. Bangladesh bowlers could not bowl well, Bangladesh set a target of 292 runs to South Africa. If Bangladesh could have bowled a little better then maybe Bangladesh could have won this match very easily.

On this pitch, a score of 291 is definitely not safe. New Zealand successfully chased it down with 22 balls remaining. The total set by Bangladesh was never enough. Unfortunately, Bangladesh lost both the match and the series against New Zealand. It appears that Bangladesh's poor form will persist for a while, and there's no clear date for their recovery. Despite claiming to be good at playing ODIs, Bangladesh ended up losing all the ODIs they played in Mirpur, both at home and away. Bangladesh is falling rapidly, and they need to abandon their delusions and change their approach.

OP I agree with you. No other batsman except Soumya Sarkar could score good runs in the second ODI against New Zealand. If one or two players like Soumya Sarkar could have scored a century or a fifty, then maybe the score of Bangladesh would have been a little bigger, then Bangladesh could have won this match very easily. But I think the main reason for losing today's match is Bangladesh's poor bowling. We missed Taskin a lot in today's match. Bangladesh bowlers could not bowl well, Bangladesh set a target of 292 runs to South Africa. If Bangladesh could have bowled a little better then maybe Bangladesh could have won this match very easily.

The match of New Zealand vs Bangladesh was won by New Zealand as they did a wonderful performance. Strangely performance by Soumya Sarkar , he made 169 runs in 100 strike rate alone, the players who made these runs in the test match we thought that he is a very good player but Soumya Sarkar made 169 runs in ODI in 151 balls, he is an unbelievable player.

These 169 runs by him could not made possible this victory otherwise they couldn't have lost this match even worse, and he also hit 22 fours and 2 sixes. He is a very good player and if he play like that so he takes the place of Shubham Gill in the ranking. However, despite all this, Bangladesh end up on the losing side.

After the first match bravado, it was only fair that Indians failed in every department. 
The likes of Arshdeep and Avesh already took enough wickets in the first match and it's okay to go wicketless in the final match as well lol

I think they were in a relaxed mode and played with a bit overconfidence after winning the first match very easily. I'm not going to blame the bowlers though for today's defeat. Indian players haven't batted well today. As an opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad isn't doing well in the ODI format. Some Indian player plays a lot better in T20I and IPL matches, but their performance isn't good in ODI format as expected.

IMO we shouldn't throw the word "Overconfidence" so loosely. This is a new and young team and everyone is trying to cement their place and wants to perform so being overconfident and staying in their comfort zone is the last thing on their mind.

Proteas just outplayed them and there is no shame in accepting this. So far Rutu is not clicking but he's just 6 ODI old in this format and deserves a long rope because you want at least 4 good openers (including bench strength). Gill and Jaiswal (WIP) are almost set, need a couple of more guys at this slot.

The management and selectors have been under a lot of pressure due to the inclusion of Soumya Sarkar and repeated chances, but the selectors have put their faith in Soumya Sarkar and Soumya Sarkar fully repaid the faith in the second ODI against New Zealand. Soumya Sarkar played a brilliant innings of 169 runs against New Zealand which is the second highest individual score in ODI cricket for Bangladesh. Soumya Sarkar's innings of 169 runs defeated Bangladesh on the day but one of the biggest takeaways for the fans is Soumya Sarkar's return to form after a long time. Undoubtedly it was great moved to Soumya Sarkar but don’t judge him only based on one match, you know he has been out of form for the last a few years even he did not get a chances in the 2023 World Cup squad, so definitely he is of form player. And i think for today's big scored he got licences for the next 10 matches, if you agreed or not i think the team management gave him the most opportunities in the Bangladesh team but he could not give enough services to the team. So for the team selectors, it must be very stressful to give him a new chances in the team squad.

325 would have been good, but the pitch was offering support for the batsmen as well as the bowlers. And New Zealand had experienced pacer in the form of Adam Milne (who went for 74 runs in his 10 overs). But it was the inexperienced duo of William O’Rourke and Jacob Duffy who broke the backbone of Bangladeshi batters. Soumya Sarkar was the lone player who offered resistance. If he had received some support form the other batsmen, then Bangladesh would have easily made a total of 300 or more.

325 would have been good, but the pitch was offering support for the batsmen as well as the bowlers. And New Zealand had experienced pacer in the form of Adam Milne (who went for 74 runs in his 10 overs). But it was the inexperienced duo of William O’Rourke and Jacob Duffy who broke the backbone of Bangladeshi batters. Soumya Sarkar was the lone player who offered resistance. If he had received some support form the other batsmen, then Bangladesh would have easily made a total of 300 or more.

Bangladesh's mediocre batting continues. Every match they have to depend on a single batsman to play an extraordinary innings or they can't get a good total on the board. Today even though Soumya played a good innings, the other players couldn't do anything, they just went to the pitch and got back to the dressing room.

It was not a bad pitch for batting, Bangladesh needs severe improvement on batting. None of their players seem to be stable these days for them.
