Barcelona kick off their 2024 campaign against Las Palmas in what is a must win game. they are currently at 5th place, ten points of the top two and really need a win to move up to 3rd and stay within touching distance.

Xavi has named a strong side for tonight's match and so have Las Palmas who are looking to defeat Barcelona for the first time in more than 30 years.

The match was quite tough for FC Barcelona, but Barcelona managed to beat Las Palmas in the dying minutes with a penalty kick. With a win over Las Palmas, FC Barcelona has recorded a second consecutive win, extending their unbeaten run to 3 matches in the league. Barcelona has moved to the third position in the La Liga table after defeating Las Palmas.

Barcelona managed to achieve a crucial 1-2 victory over Las Palmas after Gundogan successfully executed a penalty perfectly in injury time. This victory also saved Xavi from fans criticism for Barcelona substandard performance. Barcelona game was very bad even though they managed to win over Kas Palmas, there were a lot of notes that needed to be improved, starting from ball control, passing, crossing and attacking vision that had no direction.
There needs to be a change to Barcelona very disappointing performance. Xavi seems to have a tough task to solve all these problems, if he cannot fix all the negative records that are still preventing Barcelona from achieving positive results, maybe his position will be replaced by another coach next season.

Barcelona and Xavi knows what the problem in the team is.They were the best in the league last season,but since Madrid bought some players and have blended very well in their style of play,Barca have been made to stay behind two teams that are ready  and are eager to lift the tittle this season,and those teams are Girona and Madrid.Madrid brought in Bellingham,and immagine how only one player is able to transform a whole team the way he has done.He is to me the best player in Europe this season,and if I'm to list five players that I can vote into my favourite team,I will chose Bellingham,Rice,Rodri and Haaland as my best players this season in Europe.whie Emery will be my best coach of the season.

Barcelona managed to get the 3 points from Las Palmas away with a penalty in the last seconds.Although they started really well this season, there has been a drop in form in recent weeks.We can almost say that they almost left here with a draw. In the 12th minute Las Palmas managed to take the lead, but unfortunately they couldn't hold on to it.In the second half Barcelona increased their dominance and equalized in the 10th minute.Barcelona need to get their act together.I don't think they can progress much in this way.They didn't play very well.If Las Palmas had been on their game they might have won this match.

Barcelona's game yesterday was fortunate; if it weren't for the fortunate outcome, Las Palmas would have defeated Barcelona. By the seriousness with which Las Palmas approached the game, it was evident that they meant it. Later on, Barcelona responded with a goal from Fran Torres, but it took them some time to score another goal before the game ended, even though it was a penalty. I believe that the reason for this is that Las Palmas players' red cards. If not, it will be extremely difficult for Barcelona to win the match.

When Xavi wants to change players, he needs to know what kind of substitution he will make. If he keeps doing this, Barcelona's performance won't change. I heard a Barcelona fan complain that real Madrid isn't playing well enough to satisfy the fans. The fan made the big mistake of claiming that Barcelona always plays to please the fans. I don't think the fan truly understands what football is all about; real Madrid always strives to win a match, no matter how challenging it is, so we can't compare real Madrid to Barcelona.

Barcelona were very lucky to get 3 points against las Palmas. However, compared to the previous matches, Barcelona players have performed very well in this match. However  Las Palmas players were  confident in the home match. They  were able to attack a lot in this match. Las Palmas got a 1-0 lead in just 12 minutes of the match. Barcelona could not score any goal in the first half. However, Torres scored the first goal for  Barcelona at the beginning of the second half. Gundogan's performance was good throughout the match. After 90 minutes, Gundogan did not score from the penalty opportunity. And Barcelona won the match 2-1.

Xavi Hernandez will not be sacked afterall, Barcelona was lucky enough not to end the game in a draw tie, alot of mistakes was done on Barcelona side, but any how they manage to win the match. However, Las Palmas was the team that messed up big time, a match they were leading with 1-0 have suddenly changed to a draw tie and also they couldn't hold on much longer because Barcelona keep pressing and another goal was netted injury time after Las Palmas player was issued a red card, that weakened the entire squad that was planning for atleast draw tie.

Winning one to nil was okay at some point for Las Pamas, how can they miss all of those chances they had? So they be expecting to win the game that way? They should have won though only if they had raised the bar to two goals..
Xavi Hernandez won't be sacked, rather he should get a defensive midfielder and make sure that midfied doesn't leak no more. Las Pamas pressed Barcelona and they was the better side at home yesterday. Even the goal scored by Ferran Torres was a by chance a big luck.

That was a clear penalty, and the red card wasn't enough, that player should be suspended how can he push such a player on air that way? Glad IIkay Gundogan converted the penalty anyways.

Im still seeing it as a bad result. barcelona is far above palmas in all of aspects. Winning with small score was not a big deal for barcelona., the club should have won with big scores against palmas. Barcelona was almost getting draw as the final result which is very bad for me as a viewers. Even though three points acquired by barcelona but the performance from the club was very bad. No team has ever won a title for beating Atletico Madrid or Barcelona. I can't remember that the La Liga trophy was handed over when a game ended for a team with a win against any of these two aforementioned teams.

If Girona wants to prove that they belong to the position they are now in, the proof they have to deliver is huge. The proof means to outcompete any team behind them over the next 19 games, 50% of the season still to go. If they are then still ahead of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, I agree that by then the time has come that nothing has to be proven anymore.

I doubt that Arsenal thinks that way about last season when they led the table for so long, as if they didn't have to prove anything anymore. They lost in the end. The same can happen to Girona.

What happened to Arsenal last season could happen to Girona or it might not. Girona are showing consistency and that is the most important thing. Even if they don't win the league at the end of the season they have made a statement that they are now among the big boys in the Laliga. In football we go one game at a time and getting the right results and that's what Girona is doing.

Yes but the timing is that they are playing against Real Madrid for the rest of the season and Real Madrid's clinicalness is striking at the moment. In almost every game they have some moments when it seems as if they might not be able to win it, but by now everyone understands that they are fully prepared for this one shot on target to convert the chance into a goal. That's what they do all the time and for as long as they are not dropping any points, obviously it will be a hard nut to crack for Girona to overtake Real Madrid in the table.

I was already losing confidence in Barcelona, believing that a draw would result in a drop in their league position and points difference with their closest rival Girona. Girona have already set a good pace after beating Atletico Madrid this week, demonstrating how serious they are about winning the title this season. They are now level with Real Madrid at the top of the league, with only a goal difference separating them. Barcelona would have been in a different state if they had lost the match because of how close they are to their opponents below, which would have result to only one point separating them. They should consider themselves fortunate to have won the match, I always thought the match was going to be easy for them but it turned out to be something different.

The reason is that the Sevilla team is far behind the Athletic Club team in the points table.

Barcelona has great talented players in their squad right now and they need a good and experienced couch to make things work out. The presence of Jao Felix alone change game but Xavi is benching him. The defense too is nothing to write home about currently. The defense is very porous, midfield is not clicking at all and the attack is not creating enough and when they manage to create one, they are not clinical. It was a narrow escape and nothing impressive from the performance. If things continue like this, we can conclude that it will be walkover for Napoli in their UCL tie.

Las plaums vs Barcelona was a game full of interesting and great attacks between these two teams. Both teams attacked brilliantly to win the match but Las Plaums lost to Barcelona until the last minute. Although I think Las Plaums played better than Barcelona because they were one goal ahead at the start, but Barcelona took control of the game in the second half and it was a draw. However, the game was a draw until the last moment in the loss time at 90+1 minutes when the player of Las plaums got a red card and left, then the team became somewhat normal. And using this opportunity, the Barcelona team scored another goal in the 90+3 minutes to win by 1-2 and snatch the points. Comparatively I think the Barcelona team didn't perform too well with Las Plaums, however Barcelona go to third place in the La Liga points table. However, they still have a long way to go to reach the top spots, and it is not so easy for Barcelona to beat teams like Real Madrid and Girona. So if Barcelona hope to be La Liga champions this season, they must improve their game and win the next few matches brilliantly.

The general performance from Barcelona last night wasn't encouraging, ask me who was the better side and I'll say Las Pamas. If they had been more clinical and taken more of them chances in that game, they wouldn't have lost the game. I can recall how they did brilliantly against Atletico Madrid at the earliest stages of this very season. But failed to do same yesterday.

I agree with you, it was the late winner from the penalty that helped decided that game.

He needs a good defensive midfielder, why am I the only one seeing that leak?! Since Sergio Busquet left they've struggled to find balance, not even Frankie De Jong has also done impressively in that role.

Barcelona's victory was not achieved easily, it could even be said that Barcelona was lucky in this final minute of the match, despite the epic play of host La Palmas, but for me this is a bad sign for Barcelona. Starting from undirected passes, to players who easily fall when they receive the slightest touch from their opponent, in the wrong position. On the other hand, Lewandowski's performance is also questionable, recently he has been performing poorly, in my opinion he has to miss several matches because he cannot score goals in several matches, Xavi has to use other players to find deadlocks. I don't think Xavi will be fired from Barcelona, but Xavi needs a serious warning from Barcelona management so he can work harder. Players and coaches must learn to complain less and play more effectively rather than relying on ball control alone.

Barcelona has been in decline recently, not being able to win 1 out of 3 consecutive matches in all competitions. Barcelona this season is not a good investment channel for me with many recent matches. Facing a not-so-strong Las Palmas team, Barca experienced a very tense away match. Barcelona soon received bad luck in the 11th minute when Joao Cancelo was injured and could not continue playing. Barcelona did not play well in the first half and deservedly conceded a goal in the 12th minute.
At a time when it seemed like Barca was being held back by Las Palmas, Gundogan won the penalty and successfully scored it to help the team win. Barcelona seems to be struggling lately. They beat Las Palmas, but it wasn't easy. Joao Cancelo's injury compounds their problems. The injury spree is complicating Xavi's life.

Gundogan's penalty save is worth remembering! Game-changer. They're barely hanging on. I know it's about points, but their playstyle is boring. With their current form, catching Real Madrid and Girona seems unlikely.

I think Xavi should be creative. Maybe prioritize La Liga and rest key players for the Copa del Rey and Supercopa. They must step up their game to overthrow the elite.

But looking at Barca's match, La Palmas was clever enough to create an offside strategy. They made a high defense. But for the second half Xavi made changes, Barcelona was more patient and dominated the ball a lot. This proved effective they can make 2 goals and win.

It's terrible stats from sevilla. The club was owning the ball even often than bilbao but it's only making two goal attempts. It seems sevilla will be trapping at the current position for years. The club needs to rebuild its financial first after it was paying a huge debt.
The new coach was not giving a good impact to the sevilla as it was also going out from UCL earlier. I can't even believe how the financial problem was destroying the club like makes it back to be a mediocre club again.

Im putting all of my respects toward mendilibar since he was able helping sevilla to get the europa league this season. I believe that if sevilla would not get it without him but the management was sacking him too early without even gave him the second chance to play. Im not even satisfied with the stats owned by sevilla and it must admit that if bilbao is far stronger than sevilla. The nuance is sevilla likes a mediocre team this time. im not mocking sevilla but just said bsaed on what i have seen from the result of previous matches. Sevilla is shit now and it has no chance anymore to get back to the what it used to be.

It takes years for sevilla to rebuild the club to be the same like before sevilla was putting all of its key players for sale. Glad to see bilbao has managed to get three points from its opponent.
The club is not wasting opportunity to score two goals against sevilla even though there were many chances were missed.

I don’t think they should sack Xavi considering how he is doing, he did not have any financial backup to recruit new players and as you guys have said, they don't have any proper squad depth. They rely on young players and they will get injured if the schedules are this tough. To remain at the top, these days financial backups are very necessary. Xavi is doing very well considering what he was given by the Barcelona Board.

I won't blame Xavi if he does not win anything this season. After all, injuries are not in his control. But he should be doing better than this. He is struggling against some weak teams which should not happen. Barcelona camp currently lacks motivation I believe, everyone's motivation is down. He should at least finish in the top 4 to play in the UCL next season. Athletico Bilbao are right behind them and they might snatch his top 4 spots if they mess up.

The last time Barcelona won by two goals or more was in September (if all competitions are taken into account), that's more than 20 games ago! It's surprising that they are still contenders (even with small chances) for the title, and Xavi is still the head coach. In fact, Barcelona has ceased to be a “dangerous top team” at all, at the moment it is an ordinary club from the top of the standings.
