I wonder how this thread would have evolved if it wasn't opened in the alt coins section where all the little "devs" are defending their shit coins and where people who are really interested in real crypto development rarely enter.

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

greececoins looking more like an out and out scam by the minute;

50 000 coins transfered from the premines to multiple address', some theorized for bounties, however I've been in contact with several forum members who where offered bounties for their work, none have been paid nore have they even had replies to the emails/pms to the dev in days.

interesting, very similar to eac premine story.

So this revolution started 4, 5 days ago now? What's the score? How many shitcoins did you kill so far?

Lets see.... Where is H2O at the moment?

No idea, never heard of them & don't care.

When are you going to attack any of the bigger scams? Don't get me wrong, I'm a supporter of what you're trying to do, just impatient to see some action.

Right. I NEVER see anyone in the Bitcoin threads "wishing" and "hoping" that the price goes up. No wild ass guessing either. No FUD.

One things fer certain, I have NEVER heard an altcoin developer say that a certain amount of coins "leaked out".

One major problem is the moderators of these boards being paid to remove coins and posts. This is being investigated and a full report and proof is due shortly.

I have noticed a lot of people try and influence new members of the crypto world to specific coins. This is okay I suppose but it doesn't give people a lot of oppotunity to figure out on their own that there are a lot of weird coins on the market.

Anyone that I have introduced to crypto I have taught them how to mine and that owning bitcoin is the ultimate aim, if they the choose to mine pizzacoin or whatever it's down to them.

Has anyone thougt about wat would happen to the 'better coins' if all the little/new coins didn't take any of the network? The coins I would like would surely become to hard to small miners ( Like me ) to mine.

I think having all these coins on the market can be a good thing, the potheads will probably mine/but some POTcoin as this is what appeals to them.

I Min'e a few old school coins as I have been around for a while.

I think trying to influence people or saying coins are rubbish is the wrong way to go. Perhaps taking time to teach people about these coins and that most of them are direct copies of other coins will help.

Nope,

there are many new coins that are threatening old investments from older members. Many of these new coins are scam, but some of them , like aurora has a dev behind them who could dump and make more than 1 000 000 USD but did not. So as far as we know auroracoin is not a scam. Yet it is listed here because smart people who support this topic put their money on old coins and were to stupid/lazy to withdraw and move their money to more profitable coins (read as ride the hypes of aurora, spaincoin, counterparty, darkcoin, blackcoin).

Yet I am looking forward to this because I want to see their DDos protection. As far as I know it is almost impossible to protect pool. I sincerely hope that Bcex will show some magic and wont end up like saruman smelling his farts of grandeur on top of his bitcoin tower.

P.S.

There might be some fanatics who support this idea, but the vas majority here are the wolves ,-)

What if I told you that you could mine NXT while getting rid of crappy alt-coins?

If you're interested you can check it out here.

http://www.hashrate.org/

NXT is pure innovation... This is a win-win situation, no?

I completely agree something needs to be done about this problem. Having been a member of this forum for over a year now and having surfed it since 2012 I can testify to the fact this problem has escalated 10,000 % the last few months. It is giving crypto technology a bad name. Must people I try and share Bitcoin & alt coins with quickly state "you let yourself get suckered in to that Ponzi/pyramid scheme."

We are not going to change this main stream attitude when we keep getting bad press from regurgitated blatant lies such as the Maza/Maplecoin fiasco and soon to be Aurora "Flop." This is giving all of us a bad rap. Something needs to be done.

Just look here at the Mazacoin/Maplecoin data. They both are hosted on the same server in Kansas, with damn near the exact same website layout. This is pathetic:

Mazacoin Site: http://www.mazacoin.org/
Maplecoin Site: http://www.maplecoin.info/

Same ISP:Admo.net LLC located in Kansas.

It is outrageous to claim you are the "official" crypto currency of Cananda and not even bother to host it in your own country, unless you are obviously not from that country and are just looking to make a quick buck. Maplecoin should at least be launched by a Canadian and hosted in Canada!

I am sure there are many more easy connections to be made between several coins if people started digging. Another thing that needs to become the norm is for coin developers to come clean about who they really are. Why hide if you are trying to make an honest sincere attempt at launching a coin that is to be taken seriously?

For starters, yes, I am the founder of DigiByte, yes my name is Jared Tate & I am from Idaho. I am doing my damndest to do things transparently, honestly and professionally with DigiByte. I released my identity here: https://www.linkedin.com/pub/jared-tate/90/9aa/257

Noblecoin is another coin that has been very transparent and my hat is off to them: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/NobleCoin-P2P-Digital-Currency-7449332.

Everyone knows who Big Vern is at Cryptsy. They know were to find him, and this is also the reason it is still the #1 exchange. People some what trust him. And they have an avenue for recourse if they get burnt.

Everyone knows the Bitcoin core developers, everyone knows who started Litecoin. But how many of these pump & dump devs actually have the balls to come clean and face the not very forgiving and dare I say vindictive crowd we call a community?

DigiByte is the one and only coin I have ever created, plan to create or am working on. We have publicly posted our 0.5% premine (Which is now down to about .2%) and it has been genuinely used to further development of DigiByte and will continue to be used to do so.

In the future I don't mind helping other coins I believe in if I can be of any service like when we helped Dogecoin implement DigiShield. I do not think crypto technology is going to be a winner take all scenario. There is room for a handful of coins in different niches. But I have no plans of launching any future coins. DigiByte is great name & brand and I will continue to work as hard as I can to make it the best possible coin for the betterment of everyone.

Before the last few months most new coins were an honest attempt to improve crypto technology or fulfill the demand in certain niches. I am still a fan of several coins besides DigiByte that have now been overshadowed by pump & dumps. It is ridiculous how screwed up some of these launches have been. Any coin that tries to duplicate this 50% premine "airdrop" crap should be shunned right away. There is no way it will turn out good for anyone. Cryptos will continue to get more bad press as soon as this air "flop" occurs.

So count me in. This might not be the best approach but at least something is getting done. This is a movement by the Freemarket and if a group of people get together and start forking coins then I guess they were not meant to be in the first place (DigiByte included).

I am all for starting the Purge!

Edit: I am in support of informing the community about blatant scam coins and I do not believe mining to test the "security" of a scam coin that results in a fork to be illegal. However, if other illegal activities such as DDOS attacks, extortion attempts & malicious threats are taking place on here then I do not want to be a part of this or have anything to do with this movement.

I feel that getting this discussion started is very important to the survival of the alt coin community. This is the 1st place I see it taking place.

simply stated altcoins are not what is causing btc problems

it's the community surrounding btc that has caused its problems, because of stuff like this "operation"
