Nearly all coins have testnet option (since it is in the original source) and a few of them have actually mined some testnet blocks while testing connections as per Shakezula tutorial.

More serious devs have even changed the testnet address byte from the default 111 (=m).

one thing to consider, which of these coins have working testnets? either as a built in option by setting the --testnet flag, or a separate repo branch to get around any technical hurdles of the defacto testnet mode. IMO, if the developer went to the time to atleast implement testnet, it might not be a pump and dump.

I took the trouble to bring up testnet for Planetdollar.

Mostly because I needed to test the FB claim capability ahead of launch, and this was the best way to do so without impacting the "realnet"'s blockchain.  So yeah it's pretty useful, and seeds can run on the same nodes as the realnet seeds..

That said, i still feel it's really dangerous even touching the coin after launch.. and frankly i'd rather not do it unless absolutely necessary.  Instead i think it's more interesting building web services around coins.. that's the only real way to monetize your efforts anyhow.  There's not a lot of money in coin developing...

You're missing the point.  If it were managed by consensus, how are the extortionists running this "Operation" going to get their money?

This whole thing has NOTHING to do with cleaning up shitcoins.  It's about scamming people out of money.  Scam coin creators like the OP clear out the competition.  Pool operators get sheep to DDOS competitors.  And the extortionists collect their "registration fees."

It's not about cleaning up anything.  It's about criminals working together to expand their enterprise and conning fools into doing most of the work for them.

Well, Bitcoin has dropped to 480 as I post this. The Bitcoin threads are all saying "great time to buy" like they always do when the bottom drops out.

Pick the price where YOU would get back into the bitcoin market, and then it reaches that price, get back into the market.

I guarantee you the "Old Timers" here who bought in when Bitcoin was $0.01 have no better Idea than you or I of when it'll stop dropping and when/if it goes back up.

People get called scammers for charging 1% markup on legitimate services, where they add value and so on. Every new project or website is called scam anyway, no matter who released it or what is on.

None of them has stated that they are against altcoins, just the scam one's.

Been following AUR discussions over the past few days. The dev's were warned since launch to use escrow for airdrop which I believe would have provided significant merit to the them and the coin. They chose to ignore the warning and now see what's happening. (Still on the fence on this one. Mined a few via multipool but not holding any)

Using AUR only as an example but I'm sure there are few others that need to be targeted.

The escrow part has been discussed a lot between BCX and me (or actually, addressed by me and ignored categorically by BCX).

Basics behind the AUR DEV not participating in an Escrow solution is the main question: "Who would this be?" None of the members here can be trusted with it since they are all anonymous as well (like Dev). The only logical Escrow would be a well known publicly know figure that has the status and means to lose a lot if things get screwed up. This person, if we can find him, then has to withdraw himself from public, because for sure all the governments, banks and other criminals will go after him and his 1 Bilion cashable coins.

It's so easy to claim it's a fraud because there has been no Escrow, but if you really want that, come up with something that works (sensibly!). So far, BCX hasn't even replied to all my efforts to address this!

I would like indulge BCX and invite him to personally pick up that task. To do so, he does however needs to come foreword publicly. I will pay for his ticket and 5 star hotel if he is willing to come to Reykjavik and publicly identify himself. He can then open up a wallet and Balduro can transfer all pre mined coins there. He then has to stay reachable during the rest of the airdrop and make sure everything goes well. Hell I even pay him 1BTC a day for it!

pure bs i can find reputable escrow service.. i dealt with one yesterday as a matter of fact.

This is what I find hilarious about this whole drama. All the naive Aspies who spew venom at Altcoins are in the same exact boat, a shadowy mysterious developer who won't reveal himself, distrust by the general public that what they are running is a pyramid scheme, attacking alts for "having no infrastructure" or "wide merchant acceptance" when neither does Bitcoin really (sorry but a shitty little wordpress storefront selling giftcards and GPUs doesn't count as "wide" merchant acceptance in my book), and a majority of the coin wealth owned by an elite few (the top 1% of bitcoin holders hold 80% of them, and here we think a 1% premine for a developer is greed).

Mark Karpeles and Charlie Schrem did more to betray the trust of crypto in the eyes of the general public then anyone and they were "one of the boys" around here and put on a pedestal. Most people who even have the vaguest idea of what Bitcoin is have no idea what Litecoin is and certainly have no clue about alt coins, so to blame alts for the state of crypto is disingenuous.

I think what really upsets some of the "old guard" but that they won't admit to, is they are upset that many noobies are not wanting to pay the $500-$1000 "tax" to buy a bitcoin and join their elite club and instead are gambling on these penny stock coins hoping to get rich. Well guess what fellas, you created this madness when you yourselves speculated Bitcoin from dollars and cents to $1000 a coin almost overnight (Litecoins rise was even more meteoric and questionably boosted in only days) What did you think would happen but attract a new breed of investors looking to get rich quick like you did?
