You guys do realize that ethereum needs to go up 7 times higher while bitcoin staying still in order for it to go up right? The price is 204 dollars right now, which means it has to be close to 1400 dollars while bitcoin not moving a single bit. If you think that is possible and could happen I can say nothing to you and good luck with your investments.
However, if you can think with logic and come up with absolutely no reason for ethereum to go x7 higher while bitcoin not moving, you are smarter than the person who opened this topic. There is absolutely no way ethereum goes x7 while others stay still, this is not some obscure small tiny new project token we are talking about, this is ethereum and even doubling was a major deal for ethereum so there is no way it goes x7 let alone do it all by itself.

Hard to believe that Ethereum would take the place of Bitcoin for being the top crypto knowing how huge the gap is between their market prices. Also, if we would observe at this moment, the market value of ethereum is falling more than Bitcoin's market value. Not to mention that there is an anticipated halving for this year which is expected to boost the market price of Bitcoin, its advantagr in this case. I believe that there is a chance for other cryptos to overtake Bitcoin but I doubt that it would be this year. Ethereum has been steadily on the rise for a good while now, and this first half of Q1 2020 has proven that they have brought that same energy into the new decade. They have started 2020 with a bang, more than doubling in value in just 2 months. In my opinion, too much time is needed for ethereum to be number 1 in terms of market cap value. Investors still trust Bitcoin as a long-term investment and the value of Bitcoin daily transactions is still far compared to ethereum there is some reason why ethereum could not be number 1 in crypto market. simple example was ethereum supply that bigger than bitcoin and also ethereum has no scheme like bitcoin halving. ethereum will stay on top 3 in market in my opinion for long time or even another coin will replace ethereum place. There was an increase in its market price before, same with Bitcoin but it was not able to do the 'overtake' because most of the cryptos' market value is parallel to the market price of Bitcoin. And with that being said, huge change is needed in order for a crypto to be able to take the spot of Bitcoin in this industry. |

indeed I see it is very difficult to beat bitcoin because ethereum is somewhat not have a demand as high as bitcoin and maybe the influence of bitcoin and ethereum supply are very different so that makes bitcoin prices more expensive and difficult to be defeated by ethereum. |

Ethereum is only the king of altcoins and that’s what it’s going to be and nothing else.
I don’t see it taking over the position of Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the main leading cryptocurrency as a whole, and Ethereum follows it.
Ethereum has been doing quite good this year but didn’t you see the recent fall in the price where it crashed after reaching $251 and dropped below $200? It’s doing well but not the extent where you will be able to compare it to Bitcoin, Bitcoin is far more ahead of it and topping the list constantly. But, anyone that invests in ETH will make profit as well when the time comes.

The last few weeks given me a new hope that the Ethereum will return to a better destination. I mean, the price of Ethereum will touch at least around 500$. But we can't imagine that anyday Ethereum will remove Bitcoin from number one position. Maybe Bitcoin can go further down in coming days but, Ethereum will never be able to replace Bitcoin from it's current position.

In as much as nothing is impossible in the space ,I doubt that Ethereum can over shine bitcoin which is the number one coin. Though the year started so nicely with Ethereum,it's upward movement was so swift, hopefully it's still maintains that coupled with Ethereum 2.0 in view.

That's the reality as no coin ever had a chance to close with bitcoin, by looking at its dominant rate, we can tell how strong bitcoin and that it will continue to dominant the market. Every major altcoins had a good run this year before the Covid-19 panic, but that is not solely due to them, that's because of the fact that bitcoin is bullish and altcoins were just affected, we can clearly see basing on the history of the market that people are eyeing on bitcoin first before altcoins. |

Ever since I have been in crypto couple of years back, I have only seen ethereum overtaking bitcoin once and this only lasted for some hours. May be there were other time I did not witness. Ethereum never managed to attain the top position in 2017, when the ICO craze was at its peak. Now there is hardly any chance for ETH to reach the previous levels it once achieved. The development has been slow, and even the rollout of Ethereum 2.0 was postponed many times. On top of that, there are newer security issues and bugs being discovered in the platform.

Why people still believe that ETH can ever take the 1st place from Bitcoin ? You influence a lot of people to make buys you know it right ? In my opinion , Ethereum will secure 2nd spot for a long time and maybe forever if something new won't appear that will re-shape the cryptocurrencies but for now Ethereum is solid and makes tech improvements all the time so its a good investment but don't hope for de-throne Bitcoin.
