Difficulty is growing steadily the last 2 days even though we had a stable/slightly decreasing price. Seems like miners are positionning themselves.

A little bit of PR and some relatively good exchange such as poloniex will be the starting point for the coin

I'm surprised this coin hasn't caught on more.  Everyone scared of the ASIC monsters coming to eat up the profitability of their GPUs loves new algos, heat and power use is low, and GPU mining is only like 5-10x more efficient than CPU.

I think the marketing on this coin is just shit.

First off, the name is god awful, no one knows how to say it or spell it.  Just because it is the name of the algo doesn't mean it has to be the name of the coin.  Look at Skeincoin.  Seems like a solid coin and algo, name is shit, no one wants to touch it right outta the gate.

Secondly, no one is playing up the fact that GPU mining is only 5-10x more efficient that a CPU.  This may not seem like a great thing at first, but gives a perfect way to market itself to miners.  "CPU/GPU miners united together, against the ASIC hordes!"

Now I hate this cliche and I never use it myself, but seriously, the devs have got to be autistic.

You have these really cool aspects of the coin, yet you are promoting it with a link to the Grosestl whitepaper?  NO ONE IS GONNA READ THE FUCKING WHITE PAPER!

Seriously devs, make a new thread, stick my slogan about CPU/GPU miners united against ASIC in the title, and BOOM, interest in the coin rises 10x overnight.

Your welcome.
Wholeheartedly agree with this post. I think this coin has really great potential but it needs more widespread appeal.

I personally like the name & straightforward approach but I realize that this probably won't appeal to a broad audience. Having a clear selling point as sixteendigits proposed will help differentiate this coin from the rest of the pack & this needs to be done ASAP so that people can still feel like they're getting in at a good time. If a month goes by and the block reward is significantly less than what a handful of miners were getting at the beginning then calhil will end up being right in the end.

It's clear to me that the people who know about this coin have a strong interest in it. The coin has had the highest volumes on NXT-E of any coins listed on the site for a little while now and there has been fairly consistent buy support in that time. We just need to reach more people!

I have been voting regularly for the coin on Mintpal, but I think that getting the coin listed at Bittrex or Poloniex, both of which seem realistic to me now or in the near future, would be a great step forward. And yes, cleaning up the website & sprucing up the overall marketing is imperative. Let's get the word out on this coin before it's no longer worth it for newcomers to join in.

I'd also be interested to see specific comparisons between GRS/X11 coins, GRS/MYR-Groestl, etc, beyond saying that they are "really nice, low temps, use less electricity."

GRS currency is good, but the operators of this currency business is garbage, dog feces.
Marketing should let more people know how to operate it, to expand its influence, I hope to start within a week. Look now finally force prices continued to decline. I am very worried, according to the current state of development, this currency will soon die. I believe more and more people will lose confidence. Insisted it would not last long.

If you have a plan, we recommend that the first page is described in detail, so that more people know you, support you.
If you do not plan on subsequent days, I will give it up

The logo is a Scrabble™ game piece.

I thought it was clever, but  I'm not sure if Milton Bradley's lawyers would approve.

A little harsh, but to the point. :-)

Developer, gruve_p, sent me a personal message saying that he currently doesn't have much time to devote to this coin. He would like us to set up a team of developers to promote and improve the coin. He will be supervising and recommending ways to improve.

If you are interested, please PM me, or gruve_p, or just post to this thread.

Also send through your recommendations. I did set up a trello account and set up bounty of 10,000 GRS for improved website design and a post about GRS to some well known forum.

C'mon it's part of the fun!

PS: I myself don't have experience in promoting coins and only started crypto mining/investing in December. But... I'm lead software architect (3D/C++) in a large computer firm, I've got BTC/GRS and time to devote to this. Last year I played clash of clans and and spent about 300 usd on gems :-) This is even more interesting! We're making future! I've gor 4 R9 290 all mining GRS and 3 200ghs AntMiners with which I buy GRS that you dump on nxt-e :-)

LINUX manual -COMPILE the WALLETd in the CLOUD

now also with details for Groestl coin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=460178.msg6048404#msg6048404 (posting #23)

* your wallet in the cloud, 24/7 on
* just buy yourself a 5$/month VPS droplet:
* digitalocean http://tiny.cc/digocean NL USA Singapur

* Debian 7 (or Ubuntu 12 but then you'd support the Unity spyware)
* you can also run other tools like block explorer, CPU-miner etc.
* for an easy start into the linux world, safer & less NSA backdoors?
* to learn for future coinstarts: already have a wallet when windows user don't have a wallet yet
* a walletd uses ~ 1% cpu power, you can have many on one VPS

Any hint to improve the manual is highly appreciated.

    -GPU-miner for pools(windows, AMD)
       https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9cvOfoOekSdM1BLVlY1NWRzQjA/edit?usp=sharing

still 4 (false?) positives for the gpu-DwarfPool-grs.zip miner

Code:
SHA256:	5a6334cf65a0bdd7e48f5b27badec5dd388e0f6e9dd8895c75977720c96497b2
File name: gpu-DwarfPool-grs.zip
Detection ratio: 4 / 51
Analysis date: 2014-03-26 04:07:07 UTC ( 1 week, 1 day ago )

three of which discover it is a miner *g*

Code:
AntiVir APPL/Bitcoinminer.Gen 20140326
DrWeb Tool.BtcMine.141 20140326
ESET-NOD32 a variant of Win32/BitCoinMiner.BF 20140326

but one speaking of a "TROJAN":
Code:
TrendMicro-HouseCall TROJ_GE.48818833 20140326

And that one appears not only in miner software: TROJ_GE.48818833

Not suspecting anything malicious ... just checking ...

I'd like to know what relationship (if any) gruve_p has with the authors of the Groestl paper. Are the authors aware of Groestlcoin and do they support it? Since you are currently the point man please ask him for me.

thanks

btw can gruve_p please post something in this thread to reassure me he is still breathing. cheers.

Directly scanning the executable, we get this:

https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/4b379c93d3f712fbc48687f672ee517a3034ad5a9bd48905744aa87371517d7a/analysis/

File name: sgminer.exe
Detection ratio: 3 / 51
Analysis date: 2014-03-26 04:08:11 UTC ( 1 week, 1 day ago )

with two detections of a miner:

Code:
AntiVir APPL/Bitcoinminer.Gen 20140326
ESET-NOD32 a variant of Win32/BitCoinMiner.BF 20140326

and a heuristics hit:

Code:
McAfee-GW-Edition Heuristic.LooksLike.Win32.Suspicious.J!88 20140326

which appears often, also, but not only, in cgminer:  Heuristic.LooksLike.Win32.Suspicious.J!88
