If you're curious how to pronounce the coin/algo, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EES0uLvq-Og#t=16s

A subreddit was made very recently, feel free to post new threads/subscribe/etc. http://www.reddit.com/r/groestlcoin/

Also if there's anything wrong with or should be added to the About thread please let me know, I'm still pretty new to the crypto scene and don't know all the technicals yet. Just trying to help spread the word!

Finally there's an IRC channel where a few of us have been hanging out in, #GroestlCoin on the freenode server.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

With my miners happily hashing away I figure why not do some hashing of my own?  A recipe for traditional Austrian Tiroler Gröstl. If you listen close you can hear the chef say the magic word. Im still waiting for my good looking Austrian Fraulein to teach me the pronunciation though - somebody get a vid up! (see below).

And now here comes you'rrrrre………… Gröstl!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EES0uLvq-Og
EDIT: Just noticed cyghfer posted same vid! lol ^^

"Some say Groestl, some Grøstl, some Gröstl. I just call it Hash."

PR IDEA

Anybody here who knows a good-looking Danish or Austrian (or German) girl willing to upload a cute, breezy vid clip to help us pronounce the word Groestl would be helping out immensely!

I may go to Austria myself in a couple weeks to try and get some footage of people pronouncing Groestl from the streets of Vienna. I am hoping it will be a playful introduction to this green algo. I will also source the finest Groestl in Vienna for eats Cheesy

Anybody based in Austria or Germany can start doing this NOW

Anybody in Denmark / with Danish connections can do the same

Between the Russian forum, the French miner who posted test results, the Danish core dev and Austrian flavour we have an interesting european crypto twist. Possibly the Austrians will warm to Groestlcoin Smiley

I'm curious if I could run to instances of ccminer using my 4 - 750ti.

1 instance calling 2 cards to run GRS and 1 instance calling 2 cards to run on FC.

I honestly have no idea if this is possible.

no promises but it might just work by default. The other night I accidentally (quadrupal?) clicked my Groestl_start.bat and went to bed. The bat launched twice.  so when I went to look in the morning, I had two ccminer cmd windows open, and each one was reporting back half my expected hash rate. It did take a reboot to get one single instance running back at full hash however.

Maybe Chris B can weigh in. There must be a way to indicate which GPU threads you want to use.

I've heard some chatter that running two miners at once can be beneficial.  I haven't investigated this or know which miner / algo they were talking about.  My guess is it didn't hinder you at all.

The GPU callouts are in the ccminer readme.  It does work.  I also accidentally called out 1 GPU by mistake once.  Looking at precision x and the config it became obvious.

I'm going to try it later today and see what happens.  I now have no reason to doubt it wouldn't work.

Just a reminder : Groestl algo looooves HD5xxx cards. It's a matter of architecture i guess.

For example :

HD5870 : 6.5MHs
HD5970 : 13MHs..
R9 280x : 7.5Mhs

Those cards can be easily found used for a low price. If you plan to set up a rig for Groestl, it can be the best solution.

wen Asic dominate Scrypt the price of GPU will Crash !take this in Mind.

This is already happening.I bought a used Radeon 7970 in December for $350 USD off ebay. Just yesterday I sold a New In Box R9 280x for $275.

This is happening for 2 reasons:

1> ASICS are already here
2> Nvidia's Maxwell architecture is better than Radeon in terms of cost vs performance

Nvidia 750ti cards are about $150 new and will run scrypt out of the box at 265KH on 35 watts! A modest over clock pushes it to 280KH and flashing the bios to boost wattage up to 65 will push the card over 300KH. I bought (4) such cards and put a pair into two separate systems. With modest software OC, I am over 6.5MH with Groeslt and a whopping 180MH with Fugue - from each 2 card system.

My buddy built a 4 card system and he is seeing just under 1.2 MH total for script @ 35 watts per card!

Radeon is dead for GPU crypto and doesn't even know it yet. Nvidia has stolen the crown because it is now an energy "sipper".
lol 750ti is at 70 watts on scrypt not 35, but it cant handle new algos. radeon 270x mining x11 about 70-80 watts,
and FYI ati treasure island 20nm architecture is about to hit the market in Q4 2014 or Q1 2015 with 65% performance boost and 40% less power consumption.

should clarify that 35 watts was the reported TDP

this article has very good info about actual power consumption:
http://cryptomining-blog.com/tag/gtx-750-ti-litecoin/

And who says the 750ti can't handle new algos? does just fine with scrypt, groestl and fugue from my testing. What algos can it not handle?

Hey, you can learn how to set up a pull?
how do you make that stratum worked with the new algorithm?

I wrote COINDAEMON_ALGO = 'scrypt'.
But sgminer not working
