Summer of GPU Love incoming.

What Groetsl has that x11 does not though is some massive NVIDIA lurve too (3x performance incoming, see below). Nasty! Cheesy

I expect equally impressive AMD improvements and further bumps to CPU ops.

well the thing is: if everyone's got triple hashing power, and everyone's pulling twice the electricity... what's the point Wink

Cheesy

Hi Christian,

If you have time could you answer the following:

Do Bitcoin ASIC's use a table-based approach or specific explicit computations? I guess it's the latter. And can you speculate on how a Groestl ASIC might vary from a SHA-256 ASIC and the possibility that Groestl might offer a reduced ASIC advantage compared to SHA-256?

AND

When can we expect your new NVIDIA code to be released?

many many thanks

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

http://grs.cryptohunger.com/ (fees go to coin promo)  - U.S.
https://www2.coinmine.pl/grs/ (+50 GRS for 1st 100 blcok finders) - Europe

Thanks!  Smiley

3) maybe on 64 bit ARM platforms with 4 and more cores, using wide 128 bit SIMD operations (NEON?). I am not very familiar with ARM, so I can only speculate. In fact, our alternative approach would also apply here (and to Intel SSE2/AVX2)

ARM NEON implementations of Grøstl:

http://www.groestl.info/implementations.html
http://www.iaik.tugraz.at/downloads/public/projects/bachelor/krypto/neon-groestl.pdf
https://online.tugraz.at/tug_online/voe_main2.getvolltext?pCurrPk=67985
http://www.google.com/patents/WO2013095493A1?cl=en

We need somebody to try mining on ARM!

funky coin but little interest ?!

A little quiet after a very busy week for Groestlcoin.

cbuchner1's NVIDIA optimizations should take care of that soon enough Cheesy

Not to mention my fiendish plan to get someone to develop an efficient ARM miner for Groestlcoin.

Myriadcoin does not use "pure" Groestl so I guess we're the only coin atm to see cbuchner1's optimizations and explore ARM mining.

Like X11 it runs cool but unlike X11 I believe it can be implemented of different platforms with relative ease.

Should be an interesting summer  Cool Smiley

Hey guys, decided to make the jump to Groestl, seems like a solid future coin for now  Grin

I didn't have time to read the entire thread, but few pages back seen mention of something related to improving the sph-sgminer to get more hashpower. If improvements will occur, will the power draw be affected? I really like how cool and quiet my gpus run with Groestl.

If you're running NVIDIA cards cbuchner recently posted a 3x hashrate increase for only 2x power draw!  Shocked But this will be for ccminer I believe. AMD cards will get optimzations too I expect but I dont have a time-frame (I'll do some digging).

how fast is the NVIDIA card?
if it is too fast and not open source,it will kill the GroestlCoin.
many people leaves,price decrease

Just opened new pool (proportional, 1% fee) - for 100 first miners fee will be 0%

https://www2.coinmine.pl/grs/
Primary Node: mine1.coinmine.pl:3000

feeleep

Guys - we are finding blocks so its time to promote the pool Smiley

For next 100 blocks I will pay 50 GRS to block finders

feeleep

We still have plenty GRS for block bonus - spread your hash power and join us (also we are so far lucky pool)

Indeed I don't know why the interest suddenly died down after the quick pump. I think this coin will be the coin of the summer.

I bought a lot of GRS with those prices btw.
I bought ~40k when it was very low on NXT-E, and make a x3. I know that we are far far away of the real price.

Don't complain for the low price, it's a chance to invest.

x3 hashrate for 2x power.

It's gonna mean NVIDIA cards compete with / outperform AMD for a while…

… I fully expect AMD optimizations to follow when other devs trying to mimic cbuchner's technical brilliance on AMD.

This NVIDIA development will just raise the standard for Devs working on and optimizing mining software. One of the reasons I'm into Groestlcoin is because the algo better suits these sorts of developments than any other imo. This is the sort of news I want for Groestlcoin. AT  the cutting edge of mining!

It'll be interesting to see the market reaction bit I dont see any doom + gloom here.
Just some healthy disruption to the staus quo. I think we're all into that here! Cheesy

yes but if the algo takes more power, it will be just like all the other non-scrypt coins like those based on keccak, for example.

not true
groestl main advantage isnt power saving
part of powersaving will be lost with optimized mining isoftware

groestl isnt a mixup of as many algos as possible which create more security riscs and performamce troubles than a single algo
we will see x11 x13 xy99 algos poping out like mushrooms

groestl isnt a cryptocoin construkt its a serious cryptografic algo for multi purpose
beeing able to utilized in many hardware/ software enviroments

fast hashrate to secure network without security riscs and a few more months broad coin distribution without asic owner get all the diamonds was our reason to choose groestl

ok but what's the difference with keccak?
"fast hashrate" doesn't mean much: distributed hashrate is what counts.

Thanks Smiley I have AMD R9 280X cards.

I see Groestl has disappeared from WhatMine.com charts, what happened? It was 2nd or 3rd last night.

Is there a bounty for AMD optimized miner ? How much ?
How much is the bounty for ARM ? (i think it will be pointless to mine with arm, but it's for the buzz, right ?)
Is there still a bounty for a mining guide / algo comparison ?
I can donate a little for those bounty.

Popularity is a great part of the success of any coin.

Can someone write an article and take contact with differents crypto blogs, or ask some to write about Groestlcoin ?
