I am agree with your statement that television plays a key role in eldery people's choices. Lots of them still do not understand that TV is just a huge mechanism of manipulations. Sometimes even in case people among elders use computers, Internet and even online means for payments or so, they still used to believe to the news and statements of government representatives. But I saw and met among elder people lots of who are very deeply involved into crypto world and even always hold their finger on the pulse on the new directions in crypto like DeFi, different new projects and so on. In my opinion it is better to choose people who are active in life in general. Because those elder people who prefer stating at home and watching TV, live only for payments from the government, they will not be ready to leave their comfortable armchairs and to accept changes even with some perspectives. It would be easier to explain the topic of Bitcoin and crypto, because active people in life in general are more open to the new views and information, they are not afraid of trying something new and to change something in their usual life. And first of course - it is better to show them new opportunities that may appear in their lives in case of using crypto and Blockchain.

TV ads about Bitcoin could greatly induce the elderly into knowing more about it. However, such efforts could be in vain as most seniors aren't into the latest technological breakthroughs. All the "technical jargon" surrounding crypto/Blockchain tech, makes everything look complicated especially to non-tech savvy people. The elderly are better off using physical cash for daily payments, as it won't be going anywhere soon. It might take decades before the world's economy fully transitions into a cashless one. While we're in the "transition phase", physical cash will still be a relevant payment method. I'd expect the elderly choosing physical cash over Bitcoin because of its easier learning curve and price stability. Only a small minority will use Bitcoin as an alternative financial system for their own benefit.

All in all, young people will be the ones that will adopt Bitcoin to a full extent. It's evident that old people are reluctant to change. They're accustomed to the traditional way of making payments via the legacy financial system. While it's not that hard to make the elderly understand how Bitcoin works and how to use it, most of them will continue living with Fiat. There are many educational materials available on the web right now that you can use to carefully guide old people into the "crypto revolution". In all ends, the decision of joining Bitcoin will ultimately lie on the person himself. Just my opinion Smiley

That is actually a great idea BUT placing it on public advertisements means that it won't just be introduced to the elderly. It would also present Bitcoin as an usable Currency that people can gain money from. It would go through lots of processes before making it into an advertisement since networks won't advertise what they do not understand. It would still be a good idea to just show results and outputs from what can we benefit from Cryptocurrencies. In that way, people who are only interested would be entice to ask necessary questions.

Are there any TV ads as of now about bitcoin? Cause I think ads about this technology are only available online and in the internet, example are youtube ads, blogs, and social media ads. Never seen one on a TV because of the cost maybe of an ad per 30 sec on TV. And also maybe because our country doesn't even care about the existence of bitcoin, and its kinda weird to see one about it on TV tho.

One problem also is how would you create an ad for bitcoin that will not look like a scam, cause you already know by now that bitcoin has this image of being used as a scam and for illegal activities. There are also a lot of spammers in the the internet posting copy paste bs about bitcoin. The ad should look professional and interesting. That's really a problem for all products but somehow there's something making it harder for bitcoin to be trusted.

Agree, only the neccessities are being advertise on the tv so it's kinda weird if you saw a bitcoin ad on national TV. But if they interacted with technology devices such as smart phones or computers, they will probably see ads that's related to cryptocurrency. Actually, tons of influencers are promoting platforms that's related to it and many ads are popping up when watching YouTube.

The only thing I desire for bitcoin is to be adapted by the government so elderly can acknowledge the potential of bitcoin in our society. As of now, bitcoin is threated as a scam asset because of this people who're creating scam and ponzi that involves bitcoin to their greediness.

Scam is everywhere and does not only happen with bitcoin but also a lot of time with fiat. Because bitcoin is such a valuable asset that some people make it a place for fraudulent acts like ponzi and other scam investment.

I dont think ponzi and scam will ruin bitcoin big name and also make it a fraudulent asset because its too extreme to say. One thing is for sure, bitcoin still really need government support whose goal is to prevent abuse that has the potential to tarnish the big name of bitcoin itself, such as money laundering and also narcotic and other illegal transaction.

Why not make an app or a website that has an easy interface that can be used by the olders.. Its sure not just helping the olders to understand how to used bitcoin but also helping a lot of newbies that wanna joined bitcoin also.. Some olders might be have no clues at all how bitcoin work but if we can convince them to try to used bitcoin im sure this will make thing different.
The biggest obstacle to your suggestion is that many of the parents don't own a smartphone...
old people will be easily offended if taught new things by young people so I think the best way to tell them is to patiently guide them, for example by buying them an item using the money generated from selling Bitcoin or buy using Bitcoin then they will automatically believe that the Bitcoin is very useful.
It is unlikely that we will be able to teach the older generation to use Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. It should be admitted that this is no longer their technology or their time. It is generally accepted that a generation changes every twenty years. Another ten years and the new generation will be completely ready to work with cryptocurrency, and the old generation will gradually leave for another world. Therefore, nothing needs to be changed. Let everything take its course.

I think the first step is to explain how their local currency works, and why fiat currencies have no intrinsic value.

If people don't even know how to use e-mail then there is no chance of them using bitcoin.

The best thing to do is wait for newer generations to come who are savvy with this technology. So better to have constructive coversations with elders why their local government's currency is flawed. They lived long enough to witness the steady inflation too so they will understand this quicker than a younger person.

I don't think that the old ones can easily understand what is going on here in crypto world and what crypto currency is. Come to think of it, when using technology like computer, laptop or any other gadgets they are hesitating because they don't know how to use those gadgets and it is really difficult for them to understand how does those gadgets work so much more on studying about crypto currency? It will be difficult for them also.

If that is the problem that you are seeing, then there is a solution for that. They can always start with the easiest part where they can be learn on how to use social media platforms, etc. Especially right now, old people tend to have something to do since they can't go outside due to the pandemic. Over time, they will be able to use this technology as long as there is someone or something that can guide them like youtube where they can watch tutorials or anything that can increase their knowledge.
Old people are always willing to learn, they are also competitive when it comes to new things like technologies, they are only being left behind because no one is guiding them.

That's certainly true, mate. Since old people are reluctant to change, young ones will take the world by storm. As time passes by, most (if not all) people will have heard about Bitcoin (or know how to use it). As you've said earlier, we need to let everything take its course. Needless to say, there will be some old people that will find Bitcoin interesting for their daily lives. They will take their due time to study all about crypto/Blockchain tech over various educational materials such as Books, Magazines, and even videos on the Internet. The hardest part is making old people believe in Bitcoin, instead of making them understand how it works. Being accustomed to physical cash for a very long time, will make you think twice before changing your way of life.

In the end, young people will become the "technological generation" embracing digital payments in every way. This will make governments' and central banks' lives easier as everyone will know how digital currencies work. With this, CBDCs will be able to launch without any hassles in mainstream adoption. Ultimately, the old generation will be "phased out" with the traditional monetary system backed by cold, hard cash. Just my thoughts Grin

Make it simple. I explain by "You remember back in the day you paid for everything with cash, and then sometime in the 1980s you got that plastic thing called a credit card? Bitcoin is like the next credit card, except there tons of new cool things that you can do with Bitcoin that you can't do with a credit card". Then I continue by "I'm interested in crypto because I don't like the way the money system is due to its debt". I didn't really go into detail about bitcoin, because I personally don't want people to invest in bitcoin.

It seems like it's quite difficult to teach old people about bitcoin and is it useful for them? do they need it?
if old people want to invest they will prefer to invest in things they have known for a long time such as gold and property.

Its not quite easy to teach older people how to use or understand Bitcoin they are used to the traditional ways of transacting  although not all would lack the understanding of it cause there are still elderly people who a quick to learn and understand... but if they can't understand  suggest a long term investment ...

There are big differences between old and new generation people. It is not easy to make an old person understand a technology that he/she doesn't care or isn't even curious about it. It is not just about Bitcoin. There will always occur new things and it will be much harder than before to make old people understand them.

It is not just an age related issue, ergo me changing the subject line...
Considering just how many folks here in the Forum seem to think that any cryptocoin is "Bitcoin" a good place to start would be making it clear that only BTC is 'Bitcoin'. All others are alts and of course most (but not all) are pretty worthless...

Depends on which age group and country/culture you're talking about. I feel like in my culture the only right thing to do is avoid explaining anything to them and turn all this energy towards open-minded young people that happen to be ill-informed in cryptosphere

Actually it's not easy to make people understand about Bitcoin, because Bitcoin is quite complicated. Moreover, people who really
do not understand technology, definitely more difficult to understand about Bitcoin. Even I, who is still young and understands
about technology, it took several months to fully understand Bitcoin. It must be that old people over 50 years of age have a harder
time understanding Bitcoin. To be able to make old people understand Bitcoin easily, we can start by comparing Bitcoin with real fiat
or gold, which is better known by old people. Once they understand, we can explain how to buy and sell Bitcoin. And most importantly,
explain gradually, because we know that old people has a weaker grasp of understanding something.

Hello to all. Why are "old people" referred to the category of people who need to be explained something. The older generation, at least in the vastness of the former Soviet Union, having a secondary education, knows a lot more than some graduates of today's higher educational institutions. I think that on this forum, more than half of young people hardly understand Bitcoin - they only use simple preferences that cryptocurrency gives. Do you think an old man needs to understand a lot about Bitcoin? He just needs to explain the advantages of cryptocurrency, and old people will figure out the technique of handling cryptocurrency faster than a schoolboy.

Because people have the notion that most old people don't know how to understand new technology, and crypto is one of them. But sometimes the reason why they don't care is because they are already happy for what they have. They don't care anymore about advancements in technology. So it is really hard to explain to them if they are not willing to adopt it. But if they will try to understand, they surely can.

I'm surprised to notice it's almost every where it could concerns, not saying because one country is technologically developed so theirs is already solved. Our old folks also need to know how to make little participation in cryptocurrency if we would agree to make it a global currency. The first thing I will say is, it is our responsibility to teach them to whichever extent they can know and help with anyone beyond them. Trying to create a simpler wallet or modus operandi cannot be trusted, because wicked young ones are many out their who are still lazy and wouldn't mind to still get into their little token.
