The only good player defensively last season was Konate, the rest flopped big balls. Yes, they have what it takes to challenge for the Premier League.

Gunner's had them best season since Arsene Wenger left them for good under Mikel Arteta, but they flopped as we saw Manchester City coming from behind to beat them to the Premier League tittle. They don't want to see same happening, they have made improvements because they're now involved in the Champions League and there'll be too many games and competition for them. Because it will help a club have enough quality players for a long season, new players have enough time to adapt to a new coach and team mates or don't have enough time from pre-season training. It can reduce injuries of players or cause many injuries in a long season like Liverpool experienced in the last season. No club will want to have bad preparation which results in massive unwanted injuries of their key players.

Pre-season preparation and friendly matches won't be enough to conclude what team will lift the trophy when a new season ends but it is important to have overview on strength and readiness for that coming season.

For Liverpool myself, I am optimistic that next season's performance will be much better and more stable. At least Jurgen Klopp has learned a lot not to relax even at the start of the season. I’m reading that Danjuma will join Everton. Isn’t this the same player that snubbed Everton after completing medicals to join Tottenham in January this year or is this another Danjuma?  Because I could remember that he had agreed to join Everton in January, even undergoing a medical, only to change tack when Frank Lampard was sacked as manager and he signed for Tottenham.
