This season might be the season that we'll see some disappointing performance from Cole Palmer, although the game against Manchester City was the first game but it seems like this man Enzo Maresca is not really giving Palmer the position he needed to excel in the game, the fans wasn't impressed with how slow he was in that game against City and to be honest Enzo Maresca is some how killing the team with lack of understanding of the players positions, he doesn't know what to do when he's under pressure and because of that the sub he makes ain't suppose to be.
It seems Palmer needs more time to adapt to the new mechanism. Palmer was isolated in the last game when he played as a left winger, and i'd prefer to see him play at Enzo F's position. This is because Enzo F looked so garbage, and i think he shall be untouchable this season. Every time Enzo F plays, we rarely get a positive result.
Or there's also an alternative option to replace Enzo with Nkuku to play as CAM. Maresca made some adjustments to replace Enzo with Palmer/Nkuku. That will solve their problem.
This is the time to blow the minds of the fans but the coach is the obstacle behind Chelsea's success, without letting the key players do their thing then I don't see the Blues doing well, he should let Cole Palmer be at the middle of the game because you already have Nkunku running from the wing, to say the truth about Palmer, he's not going to be as sharp as he was last season.
The new system still looked unfamiliar to key players like Palmer. I think he can do better in the upcoming games. And as long as we put Palmer/Nkuku at CAM, then get rid of Enzo from the lineup, i'm fine about that. And again, i have the same thought as you about Palmer's productivity this season.
I don't expect him to score more than 20 goals like last season.
