everyone should get a chance and I will try to do the best with my coin
That's fine and I wish you the best, but should you not be promoting osmiumcoin in an osmiumcoin thread?  Huh

I've noticed a pattern of coins mimicking UNO the past several months. Quite a few coins recently with 90k-300k coins or so. This useless FLY coin which was *supposed* to be a swap of ROScoin. Blah, JINN, SHARKFUND, etc. but none of them are good coins. Now we have this, a direct attempt at a knockoff of UNO. Flattery and all that, people will create them. Another year or two under the belt for UNO and these coins will flash in the proverbial pans.

On a somewhat funny sidenote. 8-9 months ago I had a serious plan to make a fun coin and call it Ununpentium, after the extremely rare decaying synthetic element. I couldn't figure out how I could make coin supply decay in a fun, fair way so I never got around to it. I also would not want to detract from UNO, but it was going to be a for fun thing.

There is only one UNO.

While it may be easy to mimic the technical specs: 3 minute blocks, limited issue, short inflationary phase, long mining reward phase;

it is difficult to mimic the fair part: Fair launch. No premine. No instamine. No hidden reward.  Nothing held back for the dev team.  Benevolence is where all of these other coins fall far short, and one of the reasons that Uno has been so difficult to duplicate.

Now longevity and an interesting history is part of the Uno equation, part of what makes it valuable. No one can just launch a 2 year old coin today. That part has to be earned.  We know what happens when Uno is put through a trial:  the community rises up and helps it through.   Many coins launch to great fanfare, lofty promises and high expectations, but few make it to their first year, and virtualy none make it through their first serious bout with doubt.

Uno:  Fair. Rare.  Resilient.

Amen to that FK!

Hi Unoverse!

@Pnoch,@Cryptapus - you guys are active part of the dev team! Good work!

I remember the time when Apple ban the btc app from their store.  Now i see many new wallets apps there. I just downloaded btc app and Digi Byte app wallet and is so cool to have it on my iPhone and iPad. I wondering it's going to be so awesome to have such for Uno! Is it hard to do that kind of app wallet for Uno? I will have one even if cost $10. And  also this is a good way you devs to get payed. And great and easy way to promote Unobtanium for future ....

So anyway . . .

I had a strange conversation with an Australian crypto geek whose primary position is:

Bitcoin will fail. [Scalability issues, and simply too complex]

What if, I argued, we considered ‘Bitcoin’ to be the top 500 extant cryptos – would that solve the scalability issue?

He conceded that it would.

Then I tried ‘the arithmetic of Global Economic Production’ on him:

Could cryptos take 5% of GEP?

No.

1%?

No.

Well . . . 0.5%?

He conceded that a ‘mere’ half a percent was possible. (I think ten times that much.)

Outcome?

Mr. Pessimistic thereby allows that Unobtanium (all 250,000 units) may eventually be worth . . .
a penny under $3,000 each.

"Bitcoin will fail. [Scalability issues, and simply too complex]"

agree/disagree

1. how many 'noob' users can get over the wall of downloading the btc blockchain?
2. instant digital cash ... please wait 55-90min for the transaction to confirm.
3. hyp hype hyp hyper ... the btc buzz will eventually fizzle ... then come the alternatives.
4. oh we'll just fork Bitcoin to handle more transactions and bigger block size .. LOL!  Speak of a kind of world war III.

What will happen?

Fork impossible.
Solution raise the fees.  (which is democratic/miner side and does not require any implementation of new code)
Microtransactions say hello alt coins.
BTC is basically gold.  Everyone knows about it but the elite few will actually do business with it at the blockchain on my desktop level.
sub$200 BTC (someday ... likely to suck the last few pennies from the street level suckers ... but BTC is institutional big bucks already ... it is not going away ... but it is NOT an investment ... it is the currency and it will fluctuate).  So say hello to stable low inflation coins too Wink that is if you would like to retain your wealth.

Could cryptos take 5% of GEP?

Why not?
Settlement in minutes.
Freemarket. Global 24/7.  Uber low overhead.
Public accounting in the blockchain.
Yeah.  First to benefit are not the first world nations.  Likely the 3rd world will adopt top tier cryptos as their informal official currency. Ex. East Timor, Cuba, Laos.

Again where you gonna store value?

Looks like Cryptsy altered their wallet procedures again, the 'mega-wallet' appears to be back to cold status. They're using some kind of stealthy system; I bought and withdrew 16 coins, they came from an address with 30 coins, the other 14 went to another address which was emptied several hours after.

We hit a 1-year low today. Any thoughts on where this thing is headed? Will we see 0.004's? 0.003's?

It doesn't matter though, I'll continue buying and stimulating projects. Happy to see that BN and IMZ are taking this Exchange initiative to the next level.

the answer is $ 271.83
that's BTC price
so all alts are stuck in a slump as many are dumping to ride btc
if BTC goes above $300 ...  i'll be shocked and UNO might go under $1 cuz btc will want to test $500s ... but watch for btc to drop hard if it can't crack the $300s

Essentially, percentage wise, all the UNO that is going to be mined in your lifetime, has already been mined.

Just 250,000 Uno will ever be mined over 300 years
http://www.unobtanium.uno./

Right old UNO family there is on page 536 on 10/17/2015

Is that a good thing in the long run?  I haven't checked on MZC's inflation in a long while, but it seems to be a primary difference (strategy) between these two coins; one with slow inflation rate and the other with rapid...

You know what I said about Bitcoin back in April 2013 when I first got in?  I said, it's like a giant game of geek jenga.  Later; It's as good as crashing a model airplane into the ground.  ...

Ladies & Gentlemen, tighten your seat belts...
