In Cycling South America is shining on the part of Carapaz, after having won the first Olympic gold medal, since the 1.5km could not reach it, good work for Carapaz:

Richard Carapaz brought home the gold medal for Ecuador in the men’s Olympic road race in Tokyo on Saturday in a pulsating finale that saw the climber drop his main rivals on the last two climbs.

Carapaz made his first acceleration with 25km to go in response to a move from Brandon McNulty (USA) before dropping his breakaway companion and soloing to the win with 5.8km to go.

These Olympic games are starting with great strength, so far everything is going very well for Tokyo and with a great work on the part of the athletes and coaches, it is strange to see without the presence of the people cheering, but what does last is that Olympic spirit .

Before this tournament, I hoped that Croatian tennis player Cilic could finally win an Olympic medal.
However, after a very strange and unusual first match against Menezes, and a tough win after 10 unused match balls, I am no longer a big optimist.
His next opponent will be Spanish tennis player Carreno-Busta and if he does not raise the level of his game, Cilic will not have any chances in that match.
If nothing else, at least Djokovic started very well in his quest for the golden slam

Nice win for Carapaz but I am a little bit disappointed that Van Aert didn't won. With a little bit more support, Van Aert would probably have finished first but congrats to Carapaz for one of the biggest wins in his career.
Looking forward to the time trial also as Van Aert is also the nr 1 favorite there to win the title.

Today's tennis game between D. Medvedev and A. Bublik was outstanding and Medvedev won in style while  Djokovic also beat H. Dellien. Tomorrow A. Murray and A. Zverev will face F. Auger-Aliassime and Y.H. Lu respectively. For people that believe the Olympic game to be an easy winning for Djokovic, you guys are wrong.

That will be really tough obviously but a free bet is still a free bet.

There's also a 4-3-Free bet between Japan and Mexico in a later's tip-off at Group A. Mexico is coming from a dominant win against France 4:1. I doubt the host Japan can handle them.

It's still too early, I have not seen the USA on the list yet but I think they'll catch up in the medal tally competition although it's possible that China will bag the biggest number of medals in this Olympics. I'm following the event already as I have subscribed to our local cable provider and I will not anymore miss a single action of my favorite games.

Even if it just the first day it is still kind of surprising, the US most of the time dominates from day one and it does not appear even on the top 10 which is quite surprising, obviously I still think they will dominate at the end of the games but it is still interesting what is happening.

There is no easy tournament when you see top players from all over the world trying to win the same medal but I don't blame the other members here for saying that. I may not like his style but what can I do when he is that good of a player?

I don't expect the USA to top the list but they should be ranked higher than most countries on the list after a couple of days.

Let us not overreact, there are only a few medals that are handed to the winners, we have more competition in this event and I also expect that the USA will suddenly rise to the top, based on the past Olympics, USA has been so dominant, so I don't see them not being dominant again this time.

I would say it's way to early to draw any conclusions. The "main event" of the olympics the track and field competitions haven't even started yet and we all know that the US will definitely win some medals there, and probably way more than China. Also China is still benefiting from the 2008 Olympic Games at home. Before such a tournament in their own country, extreme efforts are always made to promote the sport in the country and accordingly win as many medals as possible. Of course, China is still benefiting from this infrastructure. The same happened in Great Britain before the 2012 olympics.

Don't worry, they just started great in Men's 400m Individual Medley and do the double. Chase Kalisz swam too relax and led the whole race. Jay Litherland finished second and got silver medal. It's funny these guys born in Greece and Japan but swim for USA, though that's a common thing in Olympics. We'll see more gold medals for USA in swimming.
We can see USA lead gold medals in this Olympics in the end as well, China looks strong too.
