It's physically identical to the existing hub, but uses a high-efficiency central regulator instead of several lower-power ones. That means there's no more "6A per port pair" limit. We also put 3.5A PTC resetting fuses on each port for safety.

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!

Looking forward to getting my hands on one.

Um, any PC PSU over 100w that has at least 1 6-pin PCIe connector...

Yeah if you want to run more than a few sticks, you'll want to use the 6-pin for long term reliability.

I earlier reported that you could run up to 15 sticks on a raspberry pi 4 which is true however 14 stable seems to be the magic number.

It doesn't appear to be a CPU limitation as the CPU is cruising around 25% however so I am not sure why but 15 start up and 1 of them always craps out...

Switching ports on the USB hub or switching compac f sticks doesn't matter.

So for you enthusiasts out there stick to 14 Compac F's on a Pi 4...  Grin

Didn't read all the sub pages, can anyone please give me a quick review and simple reply to following question/s:

- which USB miner is the currently latest and best mode with best hashrate and what's a cheap source for purchasing it?
- can I run that USB miner also on any Linux OS, eg my desktop Linux computer or Raspberry Pi 2 ?
- what is a realistic overclock and hash rate for 24/365 use for that particular USB miner ?

thanks to everyone in advance!

Um, since this thread is about the Gekkoscience Compac-F guess what the answer is....  Roll Eyes
Where to buy it is last paragraph in the 1st post.

 Roll Eyes THANKS
Unfortunately the shop here in Germany does not have them in stock. I am interested in a single GekkoScience Compaq-F USB miner to get my first experience with mining. I am not sure if I need active USB hub for a single USB miner like this, but please tell me if so. If anyone of you would like to sell a fully functional Compaq-F including the necessary fan for overclocking it, please send me an offer via PN. I live in Germany and therefore EU. But I can also buy from USA.

Again, please take the time to at least scan through the thread. All your answers are here...
That said - a standard USB port can supply only 0.7 to 1A so yes a powered hub that can supply at least 2A per port aka a 'charging hub' is REQUIRED to run at a decent speed and a made-for-mining hub is required to overclock as the sticks can easily pull 3 or more amps.

The FTDI usb-serial driver might be causing some of these problems.

the dealer 419miming.com now has the compac f sticks for $215 instead of $249.
so a great opportunity to get the red ferraris cheaper at the moment Wink

Really excited to hear about this! I burnt one of the slot pairs whilst pushing the sticks to their limit.. A hub that can handle a bunch of Ferrari's overclocking sounds like the perfect christmas gift.

I don't know why he doesn't update the listing photo. That's from the very first batch of hubs four years ago with the plastic case. Now they're a very snazzy aluminum with a three-color clear vinyl decal label. Way sexier.

But yes ASICPuppy should have the new hub in stock now. Pay attention to the new underside label, because there's new information for the new design. Most importantly how the self-resetting fuses on the ports behave and that if you're pushing it with more than about four sticks you should give it a bit of airflow through the case.

now i have a total of 6 compac f miners, which are splitted on 2 gekkosience usb hubs. unfortunately i have my problems with the 1622 stick on the other usb hub as well... have already tried everything and also turned the adjusting screw several times minimally, but unfortunately without success Tongue
looks like something is wrong with this stick and maybe a small detail is broken?
is there maybe someone who could/would check and repair these sticks? Roll Eyes

if i am honest, the performance is even lower Tongue

Everything's tested for hitting at least 220GH at 400MHz across 24 hours before it ships. Peformance beyond that is expected but not guaranteed.

Weird they're underperforming at 400. Have you any kind of meter with which you can read the core voltage? Factory is 1.48V from the USB jack to the marked side of the block in the top half center with the stick plugged in but not hashing.
