If Microsoft was honest, its antivirus software would delete Windows 10.

Ping to braiinspool and slushpool ip work fine but cgminer can’t connect to slushpool it will connect to stratum.braiins.com. I emailed braiins about it I’ll let you know what they say.

There was a change in the USB connector from the original batch to all successive batches (2022 models). In testing, I've had *fewer* issues with mechanically reliable connections with the new jack than the old one, and if there's an issue in testing it gets replaced. I have no experience with the issues some are seeing, and no solution except using a different meter.

sidehack could you indicate a model of usb meter that you know works on newer compacF models?

Thanks

I do find it really odd that a Windoze update would block a URL/IP Address.  Troubling if true.  Let us know what you find.

I can confirm that the only windows machine I have that can still connect cgminer to us-east.stratum.slushpool.com:3333 didn’t successfully update defender antivirus definitions last night

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I am not really sure how to post correctly. Sorry if this post is misplaced.

I bought 1 Compac F and a 7-port USB hub. Things didn't work for me so I am trying to figure out what the problem is. Here's my setup:
- 1 GekkoScience Compact F
- 1 7-pot USB hub from bitcoinmerch.com with individual switches and blue LEDs per USB port
- Ubuntu 22.04 laptop
- cgminer (I tried novak and kanoi versions from github)

I plugged my mouse to the USB hub. It works. Blue LED lights up.
I plugged my keyboard to the USB hub. It works. Blue LED lights up.
I plugged the Compac F device to the USB hub. No Blue LED light. No Red LED light either on the Compac F.
I see messages in dmesg when I plug and unplug the mouse and the keyboard.
There are no messsages added to dmesg when I plug and unplug Compac F. I made sure the power switch is on.
I used hardinfo app in ubuntu to check the list of USB devices. It shows the same behavior as dmesg.
I've tried running cgminer (both novak and kanoi versions). Both say no device detected.

Is this an indication that I received a defective Compac F device?

Please help. Thanks!

How solid is the USB jack? What's the version number in the bottom corner?

Weird. Have you plugged it into anything besides that hub to see if the red light kicks on?

Yes I did. I have two powered hubs of the same brand (bitcoinmerch.com). No red LED on both cases. All hub ports are working with my mouse and keyboard.

Have you provided external power to this 7 port hub? That would be in addition to the USB connection.

If the hub's got power and the jack isn't messed up, could be something went wrong that torched the noise filter resistor (that functions as a fuse). Did you buy from a reputable seller?

Poonasor, what's your cooling setup like?

I bought my compac f and hubs from amazon.com.

Who was the seller on Amazon?

Edit: the only one I see on Amazon if from someone called "Eyeboot"

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?

Eyeboot is reputable, has been an authorized reseller for years and will take good care of you if there's issues.

Thanks for the help.

I have tried what you suggested, "increasing the --gekko-compacf-freq by increments" without success.  I changed the frequency up to 560 and decided not to further increase.  Let me know what the max I should attempt to use as I can continue.  I am curious if this is the issue in red:

cgminer version 4.12.0 - Started: [2022-02-13 12:21:39:514]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(5s):93.2G  (1m): 94.58G  (5m):70.48G  (15m):34.34G  (avg):82.2Gh/s
A:7680  R:16384  HW:96  WU:1463.3/m
Connected to us-east.stratum.slushpool.com diff 512 with stratum as user xxxxx.geko
Block: 5f2313d3...  Dif:26.7T  Started: [12.21:39:515]  Best share: 11.9k
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
U]SB management [P]ool management S]ettings [D]isplay options [Q]uit
0: GSF 10051399: BM1397:01+ 200.00MHz T:200 P:1904 (21:32) | 100% WU:100% | 98.2G / 86.2Gh/s WU:1484.4/m
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe this maybe related to old drivers for the miner.  Is there anyway to check to see if there is a driver update for the new COMPAC F?  If there is how would you go by updating the software to support the new driver?

In the mean time I have placed an order for a new hub (Bitcoin Merch® - 10 Port Powered USB Hub ONLY 120W 12V 10A) just incase this is power related.

where do you enter this command ?

I do have 3 x SiPolar hubs that can't seem to handle even 2 Compac F's above 2.5A so I am happy to replace hopefully all of them!

Im not sure what you mean but i use 5x sipolars 120w hubs, all populated same way with 3Fs & a fan on each hub and all running btween 525Mhz to 600Mhz. that i believe is a power range of 2.7A to 3.3A. I havent perfected the art of tunning them all to run at same freq so i left them to run that way for now..

My observation is.. Even Sipolar has a fake.. while i was shopping for sipolar hub i noticed the fake one from the real , they called it Sip0lar - where the o was replaced with numeric zero -0. so i went straight to the source to order , which means goin back all d way to china.
Unless my results below doesnt count .. I stand corrected.
